“OK, let’s turn it over…”. Love your bravery! 😂
In the early 2000s, there was a movement of "quilt from the back." I loved it. You would pick a busy backing. For example, I made a quilt in fall colors and picked a backing print with all kinds of leaves. Then, as a beginning quilter at that time, I picked a few leaves that repeated a lot, and and free motioned around them as you did your daisies. It made a real pretty design on the front and I didn't have to be exact as I copied the leaf shapes and curved a line from one to the next. Thanks for sharing this.
Very artistic, very brave and very liberating from the "quilting police". LOVE it!!! ... oh, and above all, very beautiful!
So cute and inspiring. Drawing can be intimidating for some people. A good resource for children’s quilts is. Coloring books!!!
Absolutely! And it can be traced onto pattern paper then pinned onto the quilt front or back and sewn right through & just torn away afterwards (I have a roll of thin doctor’s office exam table paper that’s the right weight and see-through-ness so would be perfect. Tissue paper would work too)!
Great idea, Laura! I haven’t tried anything but straight lines so far, quilting for 5 years only and age 85.
Thank you for your suggestion of quilting on the back of the quilt. It was so “freeing” and I was able to quilt my daughters queen size quilt without problems. The pattern on the front was so busy I felt like I couldn’t see where I was going or if the pattern was too busy. But doing the back I could concentrate on the pattern and knew right where I was all the time. It came out beautiful 😊.
Very cute Laura! Good job🧡🧵
I love how you thought outside the box! It's absolutely perfect. Love the daisies. I always learn something when I watch your videos. Thank you so much
I would never have thought to put the backing on top. I love how this turned out.
This has been fun watching you with your daisys quilting
I made musical notes on the back of a baby quilt for a musician. I drew it on blue flannel with chalk. After sewing I just brushed off the markings.
love the way it turned out
Thank you for this idea! I am president of a small friendly quilt group and am viewing your videos for great ideas. Sometimes, we watch your video during a meeting and have someone bring in a few displays that they made from your video. YES, you are our “go to” presenter. ❤
I want to thank you so much for showing me the fool-proof way to make quilt binding.
I used this method for a lap quilt and it was a lot of fun and turned out looking similar to another quilt I had professionally quilted. I will definitely quilt from the back again! Thanks to Laura for giving a new way to confidently finish a quilt.
This would work with so many themed quilts. Spider webs, fall leaves, pumpkins, snowflakes, poinsettias, candy canes, stars. Thanks for great video
Laura I LOVE it… it certainly takes the stress out of the process🥴. 💐
How fun & sweet! You make it seems so “doable!” Thank you! Looking forward to your next fabulous TH-cam! Thank you again❤
Sandra Cedar the captions are available, Laura is really good about including them for her videos. If you are watching on an Android phone as I am, there's a gear ⚙️ icon, click on it. You'll get a drop down menu that offers captions. Hope this helps you. I don't have one but if you are on a laptop, look for the ⚙️ icon in or near the description area, below the video.
I’m totally trying this! Great idea, I love fmq..
Absolutely adorable 🌼👍🏻💖
Great concept and results. Thank you
This was an idea that I had never heard of! I love the way it turned out! It looks loose and fun loving! It really shows up on the front and mimics those daisies in the fabric! Thank you, Laura!
So cute! I occasionally send a special quilt out to be long-armed, but for economy reasons, I do most of mine on my domestic machine. This is a great idea and I'm going to try it.
Love your idea, quilting from the back. Will give it a go.
WOW! I am new at quilting and had thought it would be easier to mark the back to quilt the pattern, Thanks for the demo
I love your daisy quilting .
So cute his is.
Hi Lucille, how's your day going with you?
What a fun idea! It looks so whimsical. 😍
Thanks love the quilt.
This is such a fun idea. I love the light green thread too.
Thank you for being brave and giving us “permission” to try this, too! 😉 Your quilt turned out so cute!
This is such a great idea, thank you for sharing it!
Never thought to quilt this way but will try it as soon as I get home from the rehab
Enjoyed this video and your idea!
I love this idea especially for a baby quilt. You are so very clever. I just love your video’s
Thank you so much Laura! You have saved the day... I find it so difficult to quilt, but you have made it so very simple and easy...
I love your idea!
Way to go Millie! We miss you today! Congratulations!
I love the results of your experiment. I love the surprise ❤ Beautiful and fun! Thanks Laura 😊
This is such a wonderful idea. Thank you for such a creative and innovative way to finish a quilt. My first thought after viewing this was, wow, I can do this. I love that your instructions are so easy to follow. As always, I look forward to your next video. Again, thank you.
NICE JOB! The quilt turned out so pretty. Quilting technique is inspiring for beginner quilters. Loopie connector lines would look charming too!
Thanks you for sharing and demonstrating your quilting idea. Fabulous!
This makes me smile. How beautiful. Thankyou Laura. Hugs, Chel🌸
Adoreable!!
You have just given me the courage to try actual designs on my quilts. When I machine quilt I usually just do a meander. I may have to try play around on my domestic.
I love it! Magical...
I just love watching the quilting appear! Looks great!
Just WOW. I have three tops that are not quilted, this looks like an easier way to quilt them. Thanks Laura for your insight. Love, Love Notes.
Brilliant idea, so well demonstrated and it turned out beautifully.
You've given me the confidence to have a go so I'm definitely going to try this. Thanks.
Your daisy quilting turned out beautiful !!! What an inspiration you always are. Thsnk you for sharing and caring ❤
Absolutely the cutest quilting on an already cute quilt 😍. Thank you for the video 😊👍💕
I love this pattern! Easy enough for me. I only do easy patterns these days. Thanks for this tutorial. I made this one to show appreciation for military service.
I love the whimsical look of the quilted daisies. Sweet and something I can do, since I’m not a perfectionist at free motion.
Lovely quilt.
Both sides are adorable!! ❤❤❤👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I love the way you quilted it. I am going to try that. Never seen that done that way. Turned out beautiful💖😊
Hi Linda, how's your day going with you?
This is wonderful! Thank you!
LOVE THIS !! no stress quilting ❤️
I love all of the videos you do and the encouragement! Thank you again, Laura!
Great idea!
I don’t know how I missed this video--I LOVE IT!!! Free motion has been a little intimidating to me so I usually stitch in the ditch or 1/4” edge stitching. I am definitely going to try this method . Thank you so much Laura-love all your videos 👍🏻👌
I just rewatched, this is a very good lesson on free form quilting, some great ideas…..thanks for sharing
Nunca se me hubiera ocurrido acolchar por el revés. Hay que probar esta técnica. Gracias por compartir, por inspirarnos y por enseñarnos nuevas técnicas. Saludos desde Venezuela! 🤗
YOUR WORK IS SO BEAUTIFUL. THANK YOU.
That is so cute Laura!! Thank you for sharing, and letting us know, we can do this too, for the first time!!
Wow this makes quilting for me less scary! If I am not quilt straight lines I don't quilt or take it to a shop to be quilted. I will certainly try this. Thank you so much. I always learn from you!
I have made like 6 quilts. nothing fancy, just trips. this technique encourages me more than you know. I have an old domestic machine. I think I might just might be able to pull this off. Thanks for the video.
This is brilliant, Laura! Now THIS I know I can do!😊
What a great idea Laura. You make it look so easy but even with my bumbling along I think I could manage this. Thanks very much.
What A Sweet Quilt, and that Gorgeous Stitching, normally hard to get the back to look as good as the front, but The Beautiful Bernina did a Fantastic job of a perfectly balanced stitch. Great Daisies and love how forgiving it was. 💕
Hi Cindy, how's your day going with you?
This certainly is an adorable quilt. Great Job !!
Love this! Takes the focus off of the fabric and placement of the designs😊
'''WOW,, WOW'' WOW''.... This is a whole new door for me. I have so, so scared of try to free motion quilting... I love this ideal. It's almost like if the pattern that I want to choose the first time might not look good on a quilt. I can change my mind before I start to quilt. I have a hard time drawing. I have even bought different pattern stencils with chalk & I still was having trouble making up my mind before i quilt. I hope that it makes sense of what i was trying to say.. it's a whole new look for me!! Thanks a bunch!!
Hi Frances, how's your day going with you?
This quilt is so very cute. Love your idea. Thank you.
That is a fantastic idea to quilt from the back! Thank you for sharing great idea.
I love the idea of just following the drawing on the back though I've never seen it done before. Good on you for trying it.
Hi Pamela, how's your day going with you?
I love your idea. You have inspired me. Thank you!
I love your excitement over how it turned out. I would be getting a dehumidifier if my room was in the basement. I would be terrified of mildew ruining my things. Especially fabrics
Great idea! I love that you mix up the methods to do the quilting! Keep at it please.
Adorable and looks relaxing and fun. Awesome idea Laura, as always, how clever.
Awesome idea. My granddaughter is so excited and wants to help sew/quilt it now. I am so glad you shared your idea.
I think this is just perfect for my level, just past beginner!
I’m going to try it for sure!
Thanks Laura! 👏👏👏
This is so beautiful! Thank you for sharing !😊
I like to do my own quilting and your idea is perfect!!! What an excellent idea! Thank you :)!
HOW WONDERFUL!
Thank you so much for sharing! Definitely going to try it!❤️
Very inspiring and so cute! Thanks ♥️
Absolutely darling! Love it. So frightened at times to get out of the box but can’t wait to try this technique! Thank you🧵✂️🧵

Love quilting on the back, I'll try it
You make quilting so enjoyable for this novice! And understandable as well. Thank you
Wow! That is just awesome! I love this technique. 😀 ❤ Going to try this fore sure. very new to quilting and loving it! Thanks for sharing this with us!
Lots of fun! Good results too. Thanks.
Looks beautiful! Thank you!
What a great idea 🤩 So many possibilities 👍👍 Thanks for sharing 👏👏🇬🇧
I love that! Thank you, thank you, thank you! This technique, I believe, will help me when I become paralyzed for fear of messing up the quilt. I tend to be a perfectionist with fear, double whammy! You have inspired and motivated me to quilt 3 quilt tops, that have been sitting for over 6 months. 😍
That’s really pretty ❤
OMGosh you’re adorable! 🥰 I love your bravery! You give me courage to just do It! I love watching you fmq and I watch as I’m actually trying fmq‼️
Please continue to share these tutorials Laura ❣️❣️❣️
Fun stuff! I ❤ the daisies and your easy manner. Also, thanks for the insight about quilting on the back. It definitely looks easier.
Great idea and great results.
Love it! My kind of machine quilting!!
Thank you for doing this, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I will be giving it a try. I think it is less intimidating this way. Thank you again, I am excited.
