Sometimes you get the feeling you want to give up when under 1.000 subscribers, it grows really slowly but keep in mind that it is growing. Slow growth is better than no growth.
It isn't easy with ultra small growth when you are coping with ADHD. It has recently knocked me for the past 8 days into not being able to get up the motivation to keep going. I am sure I well get back on the horse, but getting up the energy is really hard and my personal confidence has been knocked.
@@NikkisNosh Ik would like to give some advice as a daily TH-cam viewer (although I'm no expert at all). I went to your channel and the first thing I notice is that your thumbnails are very overwhelming. My opinion is that there is too much going on and for me personally, I'm a bit scared to click on them. I find that a clear 3-word title works best (at most 4 words). A title that says exactly what to expect from the video. Also, on my channel, I attract subscribers with shorts. These days everything has to go fast and a lot of people browse through shorts and when it gets their interest they will go to your channel. Same thing with the thumbnail, people scroll through thumbnails and don't stop to read everything. Therefor it needs to be as short as possible with a photo that catches the eye. Maybe this can help you? It's how I experience TH-cam as a viewer.

Everything has to go fast these days so viewers will not stop scrolling through thumbnails unless they see with one eye what it's about and if it interests them. On TH-cam people (me included) scroll too fast to read the title under the thumbnail so you need an eye catching title in the thumbnail itself. Some advice I learned from watching howto videos is that you have to spend more time making the thumbnail than making the video, you should also start with it because it's the first thing people see. You have to trigger the viewers intrest, make them stop scrolling and click on your videos. Best thing to do for that is a good picture and a good title but be aware of clickbait, that will piss people off.

Your spot on with this. First for me at 1K was a sense of achievement like I finally nailed it. Then after 10K that's when things got weirder. At that point there were days my sub count could go up 1K while I was sleeping which was wild. Did you know the sub count is animated? It ticks like a clock. After 20K things get very very busy. You have to have business time each day and I work 12 hours a day in a factory. You also need a team because you need people handling a lot of the tasks.

I hit 1k subs December 2023, and didn't get my watch time until August. One surprising benefit of getting monetized was that I could finally stop thinking about it. I could stop worrying about how many hours I was going to lose (since I'd had my channel over a year). And it freed up head space for creating.
Thank you for saying this. I just hit 1,000 subs and my watch hours are at 2,400. Previously I was gaining about 100 to 200 watch hours daily but last night I woke up to just 19 more and that got me. Lol. Had my first video up in April. Hoping I'll manage to hit the 4k before then and now focus on Creating more content and add give more value.
It took me 18 months to hit 1k subs and 17 months to hit 6k. The snowball effect is real. No matter how many I have, I want 1 more. I guess that's human nature. 😎
@happycatyoutube I went and looked at your channel, and(if you don't mind) I have a couple of suggestions that would make you pop Stick with whatever games are hot at the moment. That is how game channels get big. Also, you have a happy personality in the videos, and it would play very well off of an occasional partner. Pick a favorite subscriber and stream a game with both of you( one on each corner). Make them guest players and switch off to different people on each video. I know, I am overstepping my boundaries, but I can't help myself. Lol

I don't have a "real" job at the moment so I'm my own unpaid full-time editor currently, but this was one of the first times a sales email has genuinely made me blush. 😂 So dumb
@overthinkingkpop Keep pushing, and they will start offering you all sorts of free stuff. The bigger you get, the bigger the offers will get. Look into the free version of DaVinci Resolve for editing, it's got a steep learning curve but you will love it once you learn it
I recently lost my job of 5 years, wrongfully. I’ve been hard at work trying to be a guitar content creator (while still actively seeking another job of course). My dream/passion ever since I was 15 years old was to make music my full-time gig. Rather it be on stage with my projects: Thoughts Are Nuclear / Josh Purgason or simply just teaching or being a songwriting publisher. It’s what I was born to do, but life has a way of knocking me down every time I gain a little traction. I’m a full-time dreamer, but full-time realist as well. I work my ‘day job’ with full focus and my music the same. Hopefully it’ll all pay off , I believe one day it will if I don’t give up. Anyway, great vid & motivational! Cheers, Josh 🤘

I have noticed that my videos get a normal small spike when released but then they go flat for a while and then suddenly 2 months later they get a nice upward curve. The upward curve is great because that video will continue to receive regular views on and on.
I started my channel in May 2024, aiming for 1K subs in 12 months, but I hit that milestone in less than 3 months (got lucky with one video!). Feels amazing. Now the challenge is staying consistent and improving the quality of the content. Keep pushing, everyone! ❤❤️

Great points, John! Have you considered live streaming? I found that to be a big benefit in going from 3K (I think that's when I started) to 10K subscribers for me. Streaming does a really good job of building community. It is also a massive source of video ideas.
How does live streaming help your channel grow? (Sorry if this is a stupid question). I would imagine only some of your subscribers would be watching, how do others find your channel that way?

I recognize the names from week to week, and I think it reminds people that there is a real human running my channel. From an actual data perspective, I can see that I get subscribers and significant views from my evergreen livestreams. Some people like to learn with a more casual and "real time" video. So if I do a prepared long-form version of a video, I'll often do a livestream version, too. Also, the comments and questions I get in my livestreams really help me understand what my audience wants. I recommend experimenting with it. Maybe it isn't for everyone, but it's worth a try :)

Your video randomly came up on my home page and I’m glad it did. Everything you mentioned was true for me. I got my first 1000 subs within 5 months of starting but my watch time took another couple of months to catch up. As soon as I hit 1000 subs though, my numbers started flying up a lot quicker and I got A LOT of video editors contacting me! 😂 16 months in, I’m now at nearly 4.5k subs and one of my videos recently went over 100k views, which is just mind blowing o imagine that 100,000 people have watched one of m videos. My next goal is to hit 10k subs within the next 11 months (12 months from when I hit 4k). It’s hard work getting weekly videos out when you have a full time job, but I love making and editing them and it’s great to see the reaction and comments from the viewers. To anyone else wanting to get to 1000 subs and more, keep pushing, keep believing and you’ll get there. 💪🏻

I feel like I’ve been growing fast. I got 100 in a month and then 70 the next 3 weeks. For me that is huge since I just started in end of June / early July (3 months). The key is to celebrate every subscriber! Especially the milestones like every 50 increments.

It’s been a slow grind for me. I however don’t upload videos but stream gaming content twice a week and I’m generally really lucky if I get 1-3 new subscribers in a 8-10 hour stream on TH-cam. Can’t wait to hit my first big milestone though.
At 53 years young and starting this new channel just 2 months I am all for patience and consistency. The momentum will pick up. I was at 160 subs in over a month and last 2 days I crossed 500. 4 years to get to 1K and monetized with TH-cam partner program (June 2024). Three months to gain the next 30k. Channel underwent more than one name change, revamp thumbnails and description, visual production quality etc. I did it all without a team to help me. So you CAN do it people ♥️😀♥️😀

Currently on 320 subscribers. The main thing for me is making the best videos i can, being consistent and improving each time and learning more and more. I know 1000 subs will come eventually. The weird thing is my growth just slowed to a crawl after 1000 subs, the last 100 took 3 times longer than avg... and it's barely moved in the last 2 weeks. Had another channel hit 5k, then it just stopped and rolled right back to almost 4k... I gave that channel up since it was hopeless.
If you think of it as a business consider that it normally takes 5 years to get to a point where you make a profit. Most businesses don't make it to 5 years because they owners quit. It can be overwhelming to invest that long. Don't quit.
Extremely rewarding in the long run. Don't rush things and let it naturally happen over time. I just started my youtube channel about a couple of months ago, and did i couple test videos of what i wanted to do. I ended up sticking with Animation, Art and little bit of Webtoons on the side

I hit 1k subs and 4000 watch hours on Saturday, although that includes Shorts, but think will reach 4000 on long format before end of September. Started uploading towards end June.

I found that after 1000 subs my channel was going backwards for a while with veiw count. I've got well over 200 videos now and well over 3000 subs and have only just started seeing an increase in views it's been a long hard slog.

I'm currently hovering around 710 subscribers but my last 5ish videos have tanked hard. It is super discouraging and perplexing to me that you can have a 12k video only like 2 months ago and then not even reach 100 views on a recent vid.
Views are very difficult to navigate and TH-cam is like a moving target. I've found there's a bit of a snowball effect after 1,000 subs. Took me 3 months to get my first 100 subs. I've just gained like 1,500 subs in the last 3 months. I've noticed TH-cam pushes your content out more after being monetized too. Took me around 16 months to get to monetization like yourself. But since I got monetized I'm getting 3-4k watch hours PER MONTH!

First for me at 1K was a sense of achievement like I finally nailed it. Then after 10K that's when things got weirder. At that point there were days my sub count could go up 1K while I was sleeping which was wild. Did you know the sub count is animated? It ticks like a clock.
After 20K things get very very busy. You have to have business time each day and I work 12 hours a day in a factory.
You also need a team because you need people handling a lot of the tasks.

I hit 1k subs December 2023, and didn't get my watch time until August. One surprising benefit of getting monetized was that I could finally stop thinking about it. I could stop worrying about how many hours I was going to lose (since I'd had my channel over a year). And it freed up head space for creating.

Thank you for saying this. I just hit 1,000 subs and my watch hours are at 2,400. Previously I was gaining about 100 to 200 watch hours daily but last night I woke up to just 19 more and that got me. Lol.
Had my first video up in April.

We had 900 subs 2 days ago and one video went crazy and we are at 1,6k now. 700 subs in less than 48 hours. Finally the work pays off

Stick with whatever games are hot at the moment. That is how game channels get big. Also, you have a happy personality in the videos, and it would play very well off of an occasional partner. Pick a favorite subscriber and stream a game with both of you( one on each corner). Make them guest players and switch off to different people on each video.

I don't have a "real" job at the moment so I'm my own unpaid full-time editor currently, but this was one of the first times a sales email has genuinely made me blush. 😂 So dumb
@overthinkingkpop Keep pushing, and they will start offering you all sorts of free stuff. The bigger you get, the bigger the offers will get. Look into the free version of DaVinci Resolve for editing, it's got a steep learning curve but you will love it once you learn it
I recently lost my job of 5 years, wrongfully. I’ve been hard at work trying to be a guitar content creator (while still actively seeking another job of course). My dream/passion ever since I was 15 years old was to make music my full-time gig. Rather it be on stage with my projects: Thoughts Are Nuclear / Josh Purgason or simply just teaching or being a songwriting publisher.
It’s what I was born to do, but life has a way of knocking me down every time I gain a little traction. I’m a full-time dreamer, but full-time realist as well. I work my ‘day job’ with full focus and my music the same. Hopefully it’ll all pay off , I believe one day it will if I don’t give up. Anyway, great vid & motivational!

I have noticed that my videos get a normal small spike when released but then they go flat for a while and then suddenly 2 months later they get a nice upward curve. The upward curve is great because that video will continue to receive regular views on and on.

Great points, John! Have you considered live streaming? I found that to be a big benefit in going from 3K (I think that's when I started) to 10K subscribers for me. Streaming does a really good job of building community. It is also a massive source of video ideas.

@@Liberty_Ranch From an anecdotal perspective, I find it helps build a community with my viewers. I recognize the names from week to week, and I think it reminds people that there is a real human running my channel.
From an actual data perspective, I can see that I get subscribers and significant views from my evergreen livestreams. Some people like to learn with a more casual and "real time" video. So if I do a prepared long-form version of a video, I'll often do a livestream version, too. Also, the comments and questions I get in my livestreams really help me understand what my audience wants.
I recommend experimenting with it. Maybe it isn't for everyone, but it's worth a try :)

Your video randomly came up on my home page and I’m glad it did.
Everything you mentioned was true for me. I got my first 1000 subs within 5 months of starting but my watch time took another couple of months to catch up. As soon as I hit 1000 subs though, my numbers started flying up a lot quicker and I got A LOT of video editors contacting me! 😂
16 months in, I’m now at nearly 4.5k subs and one of my videos recently went over 100k views, which is just mind blowing o imagine that 100,000 people have watched one of m videos.
My next goal is to hit 10k subs within the next 11 months (12 months from when I hit 4k).
It’s hard work getting weekly videos out when you have a full time job, but I love making and editing them and it’s great to see the reaction and comments from the viewers.
To anyone else wanting to get to 1000 subs and more, keep pushing, keep believing and you’ll get there. 💪🏻

I feel like I’ve been growing fast. I got 100 in a month and then 70 the next 3 weeks.
For me that is huge since I just started in end of June / early July (3 months).
The key is to celebrate every subscriber! Especially the milestones like every 50 increments.

It’s been a slow grind for me. I however don’t upload videos but stream gaming content twice a week and I’m generally really lucky if I get 1-3 new subscribers in a 8-10 hour stream on TH-cam.
Can’t wait to hit my first big milestone though.
It is tough I used to stream for 4 hours a night 6 days a week. The. I realised making videos was easier and produced better results
At 53 years young and starting this new channel just 2 months I am all for patience and consistency. The momentum will pick up. I was at 160 subs in over a month and last 2 days I crossed 500. The weird thing is my growth just slowed to a crawl after 1000 subs, the last 100 took 3 times longer than avg... and it's barely moved in the last 2 weeks. Had another channel hit 5k, then it just stopped and rolled right back to almost 4k... I gave that channel up since it was hopeless.
That is unfortunate but you need to to post consistently and maintain it otherwise the channel does suffer

If you think of it as a business consider that it normally takes 5 years to get to a point where you make a profit. Most businesses don't make it to 5 years because they owners quit. It can be overwhelming to invest that long. Don't quit.

Extremely rewarding in the long run. Don't rush things and let it naturally happen over time. I just started my youtube channel about a couple of months ago, and did i couple test videos of what i wanted to do. I ended up sticking with Animation, Art and little bit of Webtoons on the side

I found that after 1000 subs my channel was going backwards for a while with veiw count. I've got well over 200 videos now and well over 3000 subs and have only just started seeing an increase in views it's been a long hard slog.
It can be sometimes unfortunately. But there are ways you can avoid that or minimise the risk of it happening.
It’s taken me 2 years to get to 700 and it’s a hard time. I can’t wait to hit the magic 1000.

I'm currently hovering around 710 subscribers but my last 5ish videos have tanked hard. It is super discouraging and perplexing to me that you can have a 12k video only like 2 months ago and then not even reach 100 views on a recent vid.
Views are very difficult to navigate and TH-cam is like a moving target. You just need to watch your analytics and make adjustments where you can until something works and if you get an outlier, try to double down on that… it’s not an exact science but I find success in this method more often than not…

Thank you very much for this video, it was very interesting. in my case when I reached 330 subscribers this week I was contacted by a company to produce a TV ad for a product ☺️ I sent a casting demo and I am awaiting their final decision ☺️. Also, I have noticed that since I reached 220 subscribers, the numbers have been growing rapidly and steadily, much more than they used to.

Thank you guys so much for 979 ❤❤ small channels gather here we got this ❤ besides right now nowadays there’s this TH-camr right now he just stands in front of a camera does does a bunch of workouts and he just makes thousands of views off of it. Just buy like an old camera his phone and that’s it you can do anything. Put your mind away.

9 months ago I had 63 subs…I just hit 700. I know how overwhelming it feels when you are just starting out but keep chipping away as it will grow. ❤

Amazing, you beat the average amount of time to get 1k subs. It usually takes 3-5 years. ❤😮
I've found there's a bit of a snowball effect after 1,000 subs. Took me 3 months to get my first 100 subs. I've just gained like 1,500 subs in the last 3 months. I've noticed TH-cam pushes your content out more after being monetized too. Took me around 16 months to get to monetization like yourself. But since I got monetized I'm getting 3-4k watch hours PER MONTH!
