For those small content creators like me who think they aren't getting anywhere despite the efforts and hard work, never give up and keep moving forward!
The only way to win the game, is actually to quit it forever, and never come back. I mean, TH-cam is like a hot stove, or a quick sand trap. You're not going to win that fight by tangling it up even more. No, to win against a quick sand trap or a hot stove burner... is to say, you know what, I'm done with you, bye!
“Quality over Quantity” took me a very long time to embrace. For years, I listened to advice about posting more and more and more in the hopes of gaining an audience. The art form became secondary. Bottom line is to be happy with the work and the joy that can be found in creating. If others like it that’s fantastic, but if that’s the only motivation then I feel disappointment will almost always follow. Do it for you first and if it makes you happy then share it. When money, likes, views and comments become more paramount than the art form itself, the art can very easily be lost. Thank you for sharing your experiences in this very useful and informative video.

@AshleySpeaks4U yes! I filed numerous reports AND hounded them on X. Long story short, TH-cam likes to talk about zero tolerance for doxxing and bullying, but the truth is they don't care. The content creator I'm talking about is incredibly nasty and toxic, as well as lying about "having to move" so she can continue to get donations. She's a liar because she even said on a stream that any actions against her by animal control have been suspended. I'm just hoping that eventually she'll move on to harassing someone else.

Yup! You have to have a strong mindset to make TH-cam work for you instead of working for it! We definitely fall into TH-cam’s trap as small creators and consumers in general so we have to focus on our lane without letting it ruin our lives.
I have been online since 1996. It's been a great experience. I use it for educational purposes. I only watch what I want, and post when I feel like it. Things are there for enjoyment. I don't let things affect me. I also don't spend hours online. I heard of how others get views, but don't care about that either. For me having a few enjoyable videos is an accomplishment. This is the meaning of success to me. Being able to create the things I have is my success. I'm successful, and creative.😊
Same here. I have a TH-cam channel but it's not really about getting views and subscribers at the moment. I like walking, so I make videos every time I go out, but I'm testing the waters and feeling around.
Something I find weird is how the algorithm suddenly kills your videos. When I upload I have between 48 to 72 hours of constant increase in views (like 10 an hour) suddenly it flats and go to 0 and I don’t have any new view.
It is a strange one to figure out. I posted a video back in March that got 6k views in 4 days then flatlined and then out of no where 4 months later got another 10k views in a week.
I totally appreciate this video because I felt exactly like you did- the struggle is real!! It’s been a 1.5 months and I haven’t seen any growth but I can honestly say I am finally sleeping better and not feeling the pull to be on the computer day and night. I actually had to do a lot of praying; I easily and unhealthily got obsessed by it. I finally have connected again with the gym and friends…my life is back again 😅😂
Although you may be right in many cases, there is a lot of people doing great video essays, research, and awareness campaigns on TH-cam and they just want to reach a wider audience to really have an impact. TH-cam is about ego most of the time? Absolutely, but not only that.
This is great advice you are giving. Is not about the likes or views, but it is about enjoying what we do. Yes! Being focused more on the journey than the results. Let it sink in.. Thank you for this video. I needed it!
Another awesome video. Yes TH-cam can be annoying especially when other channels have made less videos than you and yet have more subscribers which shows that TH-cam's algorithm is unfair.
Great video sir. I do a podcast with my cousins and we have 5 years worth of episodes and clips here on TH-cam and some people bluntly ask “why do you do it when no one’s really watching?” Cuz we enjoy it. That’s all it is, it’s no different than when we were a local band. It’s just something to do on the weekend.
I have never tried to grow my channel per-se, because I know it probably won't get really popular. The genre I focus on, studio quality live recordings of local bands live shows, isn't a hot market. But I still do it because its simply a passion of mine 😊
100% Out of curiosity what's your average monthly sub count a month and how many videos are you posting. I'm always eager to hear from people ahead in the journey
Man.. great video! its a marathon and no shortcuts will help in the long run.. people buy subs to make their stats look bloated sometimes but it's all hollow vanity, nothin more. It's a tricky ecosystem though, with people trying to take others down as well.. recently ive been dealing with a bot attack on my channel..tried contacting youtube, posted a video about it etc.. but nothin helped. Hope they do more to help content creators 🙏
Really good advice and encouragement! TH-cam is a huge learning game, but you put it into words as well as you could. You seem very down to earth, and I hope you keep it that way.
I hope to just keep making videos I enjoy making and be as relatable as possible. Obviously my videos will improve as I continue to try to get better and eventually hire a team but the overall message and style will remain the same
I agree, it is VERY important to choose what you watch on TH-cam... only watch what really inspires you. I enjoy making videos and it actually helps me to focus even more, when making art and learning skills in regards to that. Cheers and good luck to everybody ;-)
I can totally relate and agree with your advice. The problem is real, even when things do get really successful because you want to keep hitting that "good month," but you have to find peace with yourself and keep going either way.
Sped up / slowed / reverbed etc started off by people circumventing the content id on DSP's and uploading older popular songs from indie/dead labels and stealing rev, it then morphed into a function for everyone to revive their old catalogs, now it's used as filler versions. Props though, I pump out a LOT of variations of everything in my studio and position it in various different ways on DSP's not so much on youtube.
yes i think many of us do resonate totally with this. The journey can be very unpredictable and the mindset changes so much on a creator journey. Great tips! and insights to look out for. Its an incredible learning journey.💯💯
You hit the nail on the head. I'm at that point where I'm ready to give up because the only way my channel will succeed, is if content creators agree to want to collab. I had a vision of being successful by interviewing and going behind the scenes of thousands of different creators and their genres, but with little to no subscribers myself, nobody reaches out. It's as if I'm in a race and I'm stuck at the starting gate. I need to just relax, take my time, and trust the process. Thank you for the video!
I cannot tell you how much I needed to see this video today ❤ I think I'm coming out of the valley of despair and I think my biggest understanding atm is not to compare yourself with other people, and also not to doom scroll yourself into watching video after video of "how to be successful youtuber" type videos. Your video feels very different and exactly the last thing I needed to hear to be able to let it all go. I'm not going to focus on anyone or anything else except going back to just having fun with it and not worrying about the numbers 🥰
Just have other things to do in life. TH-cam won’t happen overnight success and importantly to acquire experience on other social media platforms specially twitter
Absolutely! Balancing life and social media is crucial. It's all about the journey, and gaining experience on different platforms can really help in the long run.
I completely understand this because to happened to me as well, which leads me to take time off from my channel but I just recently slowly starting back again, with hopes of achieving the results I am looking for😊

Thank you for this, I’m a new TH-cam account I’ve been going a month and have only got 39 subscribers, seems like a very long road ahead but I’m hoping it will be ok, I’m enjoying it so far ❤
Can so relate to this. I started TH-cam originally because I enjoyed making videos but then felt pressurised to make videos and upload regularly because people would hear I’ve got a TH-cam channel and they’d say how many subscribers you got. So obviously I wanted lots of subscribers. I found exactly like you, almost resented spending time with my kids and family because I wanted the time to make videos. Now I’ve come to realise I probably never will have a big channel, so I’ll make videos when I’ve got time. It’s not the best way to make the channel successful but I’m still doing it and am pretty happy. Just found your channel. Nice one mate.
Potrzebowałem dokładnie to usłyszeć. Że nic nie muszę! Tylko robie to bo chce. Bez presji. Dziękuję!
Good Advice. Getting trapped in that mindset is something I think most of us creators face. We need to breath and calm down, and just do what we enjoy doing, and why most of us started a TH-cam Channel.
Just started my channel and the Niche I’ve chosen it’s very difficult for me to get out into the hills once a week, so I’m not expecting lots of views and subscribers because and the volume of videos I’m posting, but I am very surprised how well it’s going so far, but like you said I’m forever opening the studio app looking at views and subscribers 😂 good video by the way.
Great info. Roller coaster is spot on. I hope im coming out of the valley of despair. Great point about go to youtube to research ONE subject, so you dont get sucked into the youtube rabbit hole. Thanks
Awww! I'm listening 😂 You're speaking to me🙋🏼♀️ I have you on and listening as I work on a logo for my website, so I can get a channel going that all dovetails into my book...so thanks for the honesty and great reminder!
At 0:46 I was already crying. The pain is so real right there. 1:43 here it's explains why I'm keeping on. 2:42 I don't think I'm Obsessed or ever was. I think somehow Obsessed or not, somehow seeing the tinnest result is encouraging. 4:07 does anyone realise just how true this is?? 5:46 I just sometimes wonder how many other small youtubers really hit the milestones quickly. Sometimes I think not everyone has gone through the roller coasters. 8:12 I tend to think this is where the real work is. I really think this has to be the hardest. 9:25 the thing is I'm trying to split my time between depression and videos. Which is literally a disadvantage to my family. But av recently come across this saying "surviving is winning". I'm using this to feel better lately. 11:39 I should adopt this actually. It happened this week accidentally and I think it could probably help me now that you've said it. 13:08 I wonder if I really care if it blows. But then sometimes I feel like I low-key care😂. 14:31 I love this! 14:47 good luck to you and all of us trying❤
Great video really inspiring the grind is real. I feel like as a vr streamer the best advice is it takes time just dont let it take time from family in the end thats all that matters youtube is just a hobby that will probably go on for ever but we all lose the ones we love eventually
I’ve given up, not with TH-cam but with understanding why a great vid, with great thumbnail and title bombs, while a vid I’ve taken far less time on get thousands of views. I love the filming, editing process, I’m now focused on that, and let the vids just do their thing. Another great vid mate 👍
This makes complete sense. I’m new to this and when I tell someone I trust and love about me starting a channel, they tell me “you can monetize it!”. But I want to do it just for fun. I want to do it as a means of self expression and connection, to others who are interested in what I am interested in. TH-cam can be a black hole for sure. I am just looking at it as something fun… if money came at all, that’s great. But the viewer can see insincere content. Thanks so much!

Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing, you’ll get there eventually
Try to understand the algorithm is a kind of impossible thing. Creators deserve attention not really getting.
Small TH-camrs don't give up. It's evident from here that things will become better. Road to monetization here we come
WE GOT YOU NOW BRO
Such anguish over the “look at me” societal decline.
Although you may be right in many cases, there is a lot of people doing great video essays, research, and awareness campaigns on TH-cam and they just want to reach a wider audience to really have an impact. TH-cam is about ego most of the time? Absolutely, but not only that.
@@juliom3552 Truth.
I guess we’re all just trying to be the main character in a world full of supporting roles!
This is great advice you are giving. Is not about the likes or views, but it is about enjoying what we do. Yes! Being focused more on the journey than the results. Let it sink in.. Thank you for this video. I needed it!
Thanks for watching 😃
Small channels keep pushing forward. Your hard work will pay off soon. Dream big and watch your Channel soar
What you started saying at 1:40 is exactly where I’m at right now, I’m enjoying doing it. I enjoy learning and I’ve just been having fun doing it
I'm so glad to hear that! Enjoying the process is what it's all about. Keep having fun and learning!
Another awesome video. Yes TH-cam can be annoying especially when other channels have made less videos than you and yet have more subscribers which shows that TH-cam's algorithm is unfair.
Totally agree 👍
Great video sir. I do a podcast with my cousins and we have 5 years worth of episodes and clips here on TH-cam and some people bluntly ask “why do you do it when no one’s really watching?” Cuz we enjoy it. That’s all it is, it’s no different than when we were a local band. It’s just something to do on the weekend.
This video made me subscribe. I'm glad I found it. And TH-cam analytics SUCK!!!
Haha thanks for watching and subbing
@@JohnWi11is you're welcome!
Thanks for your honesty! ❤😊 Its always the journey and not the destination! Great reminder, (coming from a small youtuber)!❤😊 God Bless
I have never tried to grow my channel per-se, because I know it probably won't get really popular. The genre I focus on, studio quality live recordings of local bands live shows, isn't a hot market. But I still do it because its simply a passion of mine 😊
Great video,.so true. I'm currently hovering between despair and optimism, it's definitely alil too consuming
Do t let the negativity bring you down. Focus on the main goal and keep pushing forward
Your honesty is refreshing!!! Bigtime... I just started a channel like 43 days ago... i know - you're glued to looking at the analytics... LMFAO!
Welcome and thank you for the support
For sure man. When my channel started to get traction it was great but overwhelming. Had to take a step back and reevaluate
Thanks for the comment. A lot of truth here
I love this. Thanks for getting me out of this brain 🧠 jail
Really good advice and encouragement! TH-cam is a huge learning game, but you put it into words as well as you could. You seem very down to earth, and I hope you keep it that way.
I hope to just keep making videos I enjoy making and be as relatable as possible. Obviously my videos will improve as I continue to try to get better and eventually hire a team but the overall message and style will remain the same
Amazing content. Thanks for the boost bro.😂😂😂
I simply integrate TH-cam into my life with what Im doing and what I have already done😊
Thank you. I resurrected my channel after two years. It's been intense. I am with you all the way . I like your content. You got my support 👍🏻
Thank you very much. Keep at it, stay consistent and the results will slowly come
I agree, it is VERY important to choose what you watch on TH-cam... only watch what really inspires you. I enjoy making videos and it actually helps me to focus even more, when making art and learning skills in regards to that. Cheers and good luck to everybody ;-)
Exactly... be very calculating about what you watch otherwise you'll get sucked in
It will pay off in the end. You are on your way. I am almost binge watching your videos now
That’s amazing to hear thank you so much, glad you’re enjoying them 🥳
You would make a great life coach, thanks!
I can totally relate and agree with your advice. The problem is real, even when things do get really successful because you want to keep hitting that "good month," but you have to find peace with yourself and keep going either way.
Great advice from someone whos been there... thanks for sharing

Totally! It’s like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded-lots of unexpected turns, but the thrill is what keeps us coming back for more!
Thank you! Every single word was valuable.
Thank you, John! I've really enjoyed your videos. They keep me encouraged and provide great insight! Love your energy!
Glad you like them!
Very true points! I know the feeling!
Dude I love that. It’s a great idea but like you say hard to get going. Jump into my community bit.ly/4dMnEc3
Thank you so much for this GREAT and HONEST video. It's really helpful. You deserve a lot. I'm sure yours will become a big channel🎉
Thank you so much!
I completely understand this because to happened to me as well, which leads me to take time off from my channel but I just recently slowly starting back again, with hopes of achieving the results I am looking for😊
Thank you for sharing your journey! It means a lot to know that others can relate. Wishing you all the success as you dive back into your channel!
Do it because you Love 💖 it
This is one of the best videos I've seen on this subject of doing a channel.... you nailed it.
Thank you 🙏
Love this content bro I definitely needed to hear this. I also love your setup 👌🏽🦋
Thank you 🙌
This is easily one of the most underrated channels on TH-cam. Always great videos! 👌🏻
Yep totally agree 👍 always good information
thank you so much.
So underrated 😱 let's Subscribe guys 😐
Good luck, John. Looking over your video catalogue I can see how much time and energy you've invested so far. You've really set the pendulum swinging. Wishing you all the best.
Thank you for those kind words
lol, the TH-cam “valley of despair”!
I’m familiar. 😅 Totally agree about multiple sources of income and managing time.
Sir, thank you sir so much, you have demistifies so much if TH-cam for me, ir better yet, given actionable directions that at the same time explain how u can actually do this. Amazing explanation!!!
I'm so glad to hear that you found the video helpful! It's all about making things clearer and easier for everyone to navigate TH-cam. Keep up the great work!
You are correct. I only desire to give my audience the best but in some occasions, I nearly gave up but I won't. I will keep getting better at it. It feels great knowing that my videos are impacting knowledge and entertaining viewers,
You got this! Just keep going
Hit this same realization recently man! Thanks for sharing this ❤
My pleasure!!
$200, I'd be happy with that! Good work man. Love the content ❤
This was a brilliant video! Thank you!
You said 200 videos and here I am saying to myself “ new TH-camr with 6videos, wife, mother and the list goes on.😂
The thing is I really want to document my stuffs and learn a lot through the process.
Thanks for the knowledge. This video has taught me a lot.
Couldn’t go away without heating the S button.
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm thrilled to hear that you found value in the video. Keep pushing forward with your channel; every video is a valuable step on your journey!
Thank you for this, I’m a new TH-cam account I’ve been going a month and have only got 39 subscribers, seems like a very long road ahead but I’m hoping it will be ok, I’m enjoying it so far ❤
It might be or it might be faster than you think... either way... strap yourself in and enjoy the ride
Great video. Thanks for the tips! Definitely subscribed. Keep up the great work. 🔥
Thats great thank you
Thank you. 🦋
Bez presji. Dziękuję!
Great Video 🙏🏿
Good Advice. Getting trapped in that mindset is something I think most of us creators face. We need to breath and calm down, and just do what we enjoy doing, and why most of us started a TH-cam Channel.
Absolutely! Keep going and never quit!!

Good on you for starting 👏 👍 I'm a new youtube channel still trying to figure it out.
U got a new subscriber, starting my own, nature, hiking and travel channel atm. Going to be a hard journey in this niche i guess. Good luck mate!
@everyonecantravel2024 good stuff 👏
I really needed to hear this. Thank you 🤗
I’m a new content creator and I love it so far…videos like this will definitely be perfect for when this happens to anyone. Great video!
Great info. Roller coaster is spot on. I hope im coming out of the valley of despair. Great point about go to youtube to research ONE subject, so you dont get sucked into the youtube rabbit hole. Thanks
Yep, I totally agree 👍 it's hard being new to youtube
Glad it was helpful, don't worry we've all been there. It feels like yesterday I was on 50 subs struggling away. Just keep going and don't give up
Yup. It is destroying us all. A terrible addiction that sucks your life away.
Awww! I'm listening 😂 You're speaking to me🙋🏼♀️ I have you on and listening as I work on a logo for my website, so I can get a channel going that all dovetails into my book...so thanks for the honesty and great reminder!
That’s awesome thank you… you can do it!!!
Thanks for this hem video! I can feel your passion 5hrough this video. It inspires me too❤❤❤
Great video really inspiring the grind is real. I feel like as a vr streamer the best advice is it takes time just dont let it take time from family in the end thats all that matters youtube is just a hobby that will probably go on for ever but we all lose the ones we love eventually
Great video and I can relate as a new TH-camr. I’m a filmmaker/actress and I’ve been mentally preparing myself for this journey 🙌🏽😊
Thanks for watching. You can do it. If you’d like my help to grow fast check out the link in the description 🙌🏻
That’s the roller coaster of TH-cam and all part of the fun. No one really understands it
Amazing advice
Glad you think so!
Yes, I think I‘m on informed optimism now. ❤
That’s a great place to be 😀
Another great honest video John. So true what you say. So glad I’m not the only one going through the roller coaster. Cheers
Almost will be year soon and I'm excited to continue my journey as a TH-camr and content creator
Working to get a Break through on my TH-cam channel keep going and stay focused consistency is the Key !!!
You got this! Keep at it & the rewards will come…. One day 😏

Thanks for your vids John, it certainly has been an emotional rollercoaster, cheers to the future :)
Thanks for watching. I'm sure it'll still be an emotional roller coaster in 10 years time
