The main focus of the film was their wild days in the 80's, based on the book. Since the book was published in 2001, and ends its narrative around 1998, of course there's almost 20 years of more current events they're leaving out.

I'm convinced that they didn't include these parts because it would have zero to do with the movie plot. Either Netflix make a documentary or they make a movie, in this case it had to pick the things that was relevant for a movie. Strange to see people not accpeting that.

I watched this with folks that knew and still know motley, worked with in the early days and toured with the for many years in total time on the road. They laughed through most of it saying it was a lot of calculated in accurate bullshit. Remember Tommy and nikki used to speedball, drink and claim to have even shot whiskey into their arms, this is their claim, all at the same time as claiming a crystal clear recall of the history of that time frame......it's bullshit, very entertaining narcissisticly driven bullshit!

Aside from the timeline being out of whack, another thing the Dirt fails to mention is Vince Neil's solo career. When John Corabi takes his place, Vince is shown as a depressed, down on his luck, unemployed bum drinking his misery away at some bar. In reality, Vince had already put together a new band and had a solo album out before Motley Crue put their album out. Granted, this is a story about Motley Crue, and securing the rights to music from another record company probably played a part in leaving some of that out. But it certainly depicts Vince differently compared to the rest of the band.

Making themselves larger than normal people who really couldn't get away with this stuff and who do they sell it to, they sell it to young people. I was a kid when I started listening to Motley Crue and that's because older people already have their idols or they've grown out of it and older people have other things to spend their money on.

Actually Mötley Crüe wanted to keep John Corabi around even then. However stories and reports of the time say that the crew did not want them to Neil back. They brought him back at the behest of their management and record company. And it was also because the album itself known as Motley Crue was considered one of the low points in their career. However the good thing for that album is that looking back on it and listening to it now you can see that it really was probably one of the best albums. John Adams so much depth and dimension to the band. I have been a fan of motley Crue since I first heard smoking in the boys room. So I was one of the people who did not give the Motley Crue album with John on at a fair chance. If he has stuck around and they kept in Motley Crue would have gone in a whole new directions and probably would be even bigger now than I have ever been. What they did was bring Vince Neil back go back to their old music. The tired sounded they went through over and over. The new tattoo album was horrible. At that point I think if I was Molly Crue I would’ve brought John back and definitely have shown Vince the door.I still like the original lineup of members. However I do think that John got a raw deal because he was such a wonderful addition to the band.

I do recall hearing Crue screwing over an all black heavy metal named Sound Barrier. Barrier opened for Crue a few times (around "Shout at the devil") and began getting a following of their own. Crue (mostly Sixx) got upset and began trashing the band to any and everybody. Afterward, Barrier's reputation took a hit and they didn't open for Crue anymore. This is rumor that I've only seen post by Sound Barrier fans so I have no clue if any of this happened.

The Dirt ignored Doc having Matthew Trippe take over for Nikki Sixx on a part of the Theater of Pain tour when Nikki was in the hospital drying out from drug use. Matthew also helped write most of the Girls Girls Girls record, designed the Drum Roll over that Tommy used in Wild Side and the biker look over the Glam Metal look of Theater of Pain. Doc McGhee tried to pull that crap again with KISS on their 1996 reunion tour when peter was unable to play a concert due to his arms locking up. Doc thought that they would just put Peter's drum tech in the makeup and no one would be the wiser but Paul, Gene, Ace and Peter wanted to be honest and the fans wished Peter well and the show went on as they say.

It is impossible to put the book in it’s entirety in a 1 hour and 48 minute film. The book is over 600 pages. But I am currently reading the book, and after about 4 chapters, I HAD to see the movie. So I revitalized my discontinued Netflix account and watched it. My God. Yes. They left some shit out. It is even mentioned when they leave out a key person. But to be honest, the actors fucking sell this! The story is good, if shortened. Iwan Rheon as Mick is fantastic! Douglas Booth as Nikki was outstanding! These guys nailed their performances and I have already watched it twice. Definitely read the book if you’re interested in their history, but the movie was excellent and well casted. I just wish they made it a mini series instead of a single movie.

Just don't make it sound like the band members are hiding the truth, because it's out there in their own words, if you bother to look. _“I didn’t know they were going to bring Vince Neil back…”_
That’s a really common tale in recruited replacement frontmen for 1980s hard rock/metal bands…if ya watch a TH-cam video titled _Van Halen’s lost boy_ it features _Mitch Malloy_ whom Van Halen was gonna fill Sammy Hagar’s role _(who in-turn was already filling the role of David Lee Roth)_ & he said something to the effect of _“The band all appeared on an MTV award show & they were with David Lee Roth”_ & he left the project, and I do remember when Dave rejoined Van Halen & did _Mean Wise Magic_ but like, I think what happened was that They appeared with Dave with no real major plans, it was just one of those things…like how _Guns N Roses_ after touring with Bucket Head on Guitar *DUMPED* Bucket Head for Slash’s return…the fans who are interested in spending several thousand dollars on tickets and everything involved with attending a _Guns N Roses_ show aren’t people who happened upon _Guns N Roses_ in 2006, they’re fans trying to recapture a feeling they experienced in ya know, 1987 or 1989 & a guy wearing motorcycle boots, black leather pants, a leather vest & a top hat helps complete that feeling better then some guy with a KFC bucket on his f-Ing head…

There is a ton missing, because really, the central theme of the movie is the fame, drugs, and Sixx’s story of figuring out how to manage it all and figure out the band is his family. Once Sixx gets there, the movie is pretty much done. The stuff left out would have made it a four hour movie at least. The video is informational sure, but to imply they are hiding things when it has all been public info for so long, just seems kinda dumb and reaching.

The "most glaring omission" is definitely NOT Pamela Anderson. Yall need to see where the story ends. I think the biggest omission was the "SEXUAL" craziness that went on. They barely touch on it when they show the apartment the band shared (killing cockroaches with hairspray).... they give a TINY hint at it when it shows (something) flying out of the womens hoohoo (sorry cant think of a more media friendly term 😂🤦🏼‍♀️). It was supposed to be alcohol I believe. But that was the tip of the Berg. Thede boys were NASTY! (Vince more privately and Mick was not part of it) but the things Tommy and Nikki did to and with women together.... DISGUSTING! (yeah nikki also mentions the woman he was having sex with in the closet and switches out with tommy supposedly without telling her) but it was so much more than that. Groupies, totally wasted on Motley tour buses for days, then getting dropped wherever the band felt like was common....and again RAUNCHY boys. They really dont get into that in the movie. Oh and making Tommy out to be "all peace and love"? Bahaha 😂😂 I call bullshit

What was flying out of the woman’s woo hoo is called squirting. If a man has some strong hands and longer fingers he can actually reach inside of a woman with his two middle fingers and make the motion of the come here sign and if he knows what he’s doing well in just a few minutes she will squirt out a volume of amount of liquid that I’m not quite sure if anybody really knows what it is. It’s not piss, it’s more closely related to orgasm fluid. No taste, or smell that I’ve ever noticed. Google “women squirting”, it’s all there.

@@sevinstorey4365 🤣🤣🤣🤣 you clearly do not know the "real" stories of Motley. In that apartment, and elsewhere, they were infamous for losing women's "who who's" with alcohol, foreign objects, etc.. just as when she uses a douche she can hold it in and then let it loose. They're is NO east the amount she was spraying ease her own natural juices. And just FYI... you're few solution I'd pretty funny. Many woman can do that just fine without a mans fingers or help. Is pretty common. Woman can "let it loose" like s man when she had an orgasm. Definitely not all women (in fact I think it's like 70% of women can't orgasm during the act itself... they need oral or themselves), which I'd pretty sad if you ask me. Thanks for the quite inaccurate anatomy lesson... but again... it was alcohol in this instance. Woman DO squirt the same as men. Just not all women and not ad.much as men. 🤣🤣🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ I'm sorry. I feel like there is a 12 year old trying to give women's sexual anatomy lessons to a woman. Smh. You comment "IM NOT SURE ANYONE REALLY EVEN KNOWS ABOUT THIS" is downright hysterical 🤣🤣 are you very young?????

@@jojox9791 If you read the book, you'd know that the woman is a reference to Bullwinkle, a woman tommy dated at the beginning of their success on the strip. It's not supposed to be alcohol it's because tommy said she could squirt across the room which is why he stayed with her and "wanted to marry her" despite her short and aggressive temper. I don't know where you got alcohol from.

Motley Crue was before my time by just a little bit. But I watched the movie to see what all the fuss was about. Seems to me that they were all terrible people, except for maybe Mick Mars. When the movie tried to make me feel sorry for them, I just couldn’t. I mean... Was I supposed to feel sorry for Lee when Locklear left him? He was bangin chicks left and right. Was I supposed to feel sorry for Vince Neil when his daughter was dying? Seems to me like he did everything in his power to implode his family and alienate his daughter. It’s a terrible tragedy that she died, and I’m sure the people who really cared for her were devastated. My heart goes out to them. But I’m supposed to feel sorry for Vince Neil? Meh... They’re all just crappy people.

Much, if not MOST, of what the Crue did when they were high/drunk would be considered ILLEGAL today. Since all members of the Crue took-part in the production of the film, they kept most of their illegal activity out of the film to prevent any serious legal entanglements. It was a different time then, things happened that we don't tolerate today.

I know if they included some of the more mundane stuff. Like Nikki lived with is record executive uncle and his grandparents gave him thousands of dollars for a Porsche (that was a lot more money back then). Micks parents financed the group. Vincent's father in law was a head rep in the local electricians union chapter (that's a huge hook up. Ask any one in the trades). It might have dispelled some of the rock star aura a little. They still did the work and wrote great music.

That one crue record with corabi on it had better riffs and hooks that anything to come from the band since.

Motley Crue had productive say in the making of this movie, so they would be aware of anything missing that they wanted in. Also, this movie does NOT represent them in their entirety as a band. It should have been either Part 1 or a minimum of 3 hours long. You cannot tell the story of this band and all the complexities of each member in this short time frame. All had serious life-altering events happen to them that needed ADEQUATE time to be told. The way it ended they could absolutely still put out 'Part 2 - Everything the First Movie Didn't Say' (perhaps a better title but you get the gist). I have read my copy of The Dirt more than once and I find I have missed some detail each time so, I really do hope they do another movie. I"ll be waiting for it anyway.

    • @mcmuffin_stuffin
      @mcmuffin_stuffin 3 ปีที่แล้ว

I agree that a lot of stuff was left out, but I don't think that was really in the members control. Studio execs probably wanted it to be more of a movie like "Here's all the crazy shit Motley Crue did, and if they didn't want something in the movie for fear of it dragging on or feeling randomly inserted and messing up the pacing. This is why I think it should of been done more as a mini-series that focused less on being an entertaining movie that could appeal to the masses, and more on the story as it is portrayed in the book. But then again, if it was more documentary-like the movie wouldn't had brought in as big of an audience as it did, and they wouldn't have broken their contract to tour again so maybe it's a good thing it was more marketable. And anyway I feel like most people who were unfamiliar with Motley before seeing the movie would have done a little digging themselves after watching it, if it piqued their interest. After I saw the movie, I listened to an audiobook version of the dirt and the heroin diaries, and I read the dirt a couple times, but I know people my age become pretty disinterested in stuff quickly and most are solely into rap music so there's probably not that many teens who looked into the band after seeing the movie.
