The first story was a complete masterpiece of HFY curbstomb. Loved it! The second story was was kinda sad, humanity stuck as the galactic helpdesk. Thank goodness we didn't become the retail workers of the galaxy. Having to deal with Space Karens would be too much. Thanks for finding and narrating these stories! For the Algorithm! Last time I had to ger someone out, I got a call later to rate him from his boss. I astonshed him by giving 10/10 I said he had been friendly, courteous, and efficient, he confirmed my problem and my level of understanding, resolved the issue and explained how it occurred, dealt with a minor secondary issue he identified, checked I was happy and tidied up properly. I'm no techie, I do people stuff butI had a pretty good PC at home years before my office even got one so not a muppet either. IMy work involved the bereaved, elderly. terminally ill, recently disabled. complany directors, medical professionals and Consultants etc, I learned to be flexible, treating people as I would expect to be treated in that situation. He did the same, No faff, but got tte job done well and left me a happy unconfused bunny.
For the author … may he write many more wonderful stories. For the handsome voice actor who entertains us daily! For the algorithm: may it bless us with good numbers so we may watch and listen for many a year.
The second one forgot a role, the explorer. The explorer is someone who travels around to the unknown and catalogs it, not really a scientist but an adventurer.

Maybe describe it as "Any insufficiently applicable form of magic is indistinguishable from outdated technology." What does everybody else think?
The first story reminds me a bit of a few Manga I saw a while back (Yes one of them was Gate) where Wizards try to invade earth only to find out that in the time and resources needed to make and train a dozen Wizards you could create an entire army of normal modern soldiers with armor & artillery and then train them in whatever flavor of tactics you want for 5+ years.

We could also add a virus or something to the planet that specifically targets each species killing them all. We have already built artificial cells for real that can reproduce.

Having actually done helpdesk work in the early days of the Internet, all I can say is that I hope we'd at least be good at inventing a few new cute & funny acronyms...

It's a shame theres no official host I could find its all fan translated so far. I also started reading a similar manga called Japan summons (nihonkoku shoukan) that ones pretty good too it's a bit more entertaining cause there's several levels of technology not just magic like in gate.

The primary explanation is that the tank's armor and the armor and likely weapons of the human soldiers were composed of non-meatal possibly carbon-ceramic materials. and since the spell heat metal specifically heats only metal the armor and weapons of the humans were unaffected by it as there was no metal there to heat as far as the spell was concerned. and any metals that were present had been specifically created to have properties that either resisted the effect of the spell or were functionally immune to it. basically, it was a case of magic vs material science and material science won because the humans had access to materials that made the standard spells available to the alien army either totally ineffective or only moderately effective depending on the grade of force that they were facing.
A few years ago if you're a good sniper my father would a bet you a hundred dollars a bullet I put a quarter up three and a half miles away and your choot quarter every single time right in the head that was on the quarter. My father taught four of us how to shoot like that farther than any sniper could shoot and we were taught how to shoot that far and never miss the target. Of course I don't own any guns I sold my gun when I was still young but I was an adult at that time and sold it cheap . And I have not bought a gun since then I I don't think I will ever buy a gun again even though I do like guns.

2:00 First story, Firing squad, I'm pretty sure the command is "Take Aim!". 'Present Arms' is usually used for rifle inspection while on parade.
