  • Here is the method I use to hold a crankshaft pully while you remove or tighten the bolt. I've used this technique on a 2005 Toyota Camry, and a 1995 Honda Prelude. I hope it helps you. Please give me a like if you tried this and it helped you. Thanks

    Thanks for this clever trick. Worked great on my granddaughter's hyundai accent. I'm going to share this with friends 👍

    Brilliant! Worked like an absolute champ. That old belt will likely be useful in other places just like a strap wrench.

    Standing golf clap from me. That is a great idea. Cheers.

    I just broke the crankshaft pulley bolt loose on my 2008 Honda Fit! I used a "3:1 Torque Multiplier ($257 new on Amazon)" and the crank pulley holding tool ($13). I ran a bunch of 1/2" extensions out from the multiplier and rested them on a jack stand and used a breaker bar with a 4 ft. cheater pipe on it and it broke loose. Even though the torque multiplier is rated for 1100 ft/lbs, I still had to put out on that cheater pipe. My 450 ft/lb. electric impact with the special crankshaft 19mm socket from Honda was not enough to break it loose.

      I feel your pain. These bolts and their crazy torque needed to shift them. They need a total redesign.

    Nice. How much torque do you think you could put on that before it would slip or break? My Toyota requires 169ft/lb.

    my crankshaft pulley on my ‘02 Civic Si EP3 is wobbling and sometimes makes a rattling noise. do i just need to tighten it?

      The rubber dampener ring may be loose or slogged out. Might have to replace the crankshaft pulley. Also called the harmonic balancer.

    why use don't use 1' impact the one impact they use to change 1wheel tire

  • @wendyvic4046

    Just watch the "elastomer" between balancer hub and ring...don't want that loosening up.

      This is what I’d be concerned with but I think these have 2 belts going through them (power steering and the alternator belt) seems like the power steering belt is on the smaller pulley without the elastomer while the alternator belt goes on the larger pulley which has the elastomer layer. I’d do this trick with the power steering side of the harmonic balancer just to be safer.

    I don't have an old alternator belt, could I use an old timing belt?

    • @DBNimbleRepairs
      @DBNimbleRepairs  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can't figure out how you'd make that work, but if you do please make a video. That would be interesting.

      @@DBNimbleRepairs Nope, didn't work 😭the pulley kept slipping on the belt, because it wasn't able to be tight enough.
      I just decided to use the alternator belt [and order a replacement].
      Worked a treat, many thanks😀
