This happened to my car but I caught it before it could do any damage. I turned my car on one day heard an awful noise I shut the car off right away and noticed the balancer was coming off the belt jumped a couple of teeth on the balancer pulley and the belt was starting to get shredded up. Got the car towed to a shop and they fixed it I’ve had no issues since. Mechanic told me the rubber failed said it was original from the factory.
Question: i have a 2021 Jeep GC w/ v6. There is a bolt on the end of the crankshaft that holds the serpentine pulley on. The bolt wobbles but the pulley is smooth. There are no weird noises or vibration that i can tell. Is this normal?
Thanks! Very helpful advice!
Thank you Sir for all the informations!

I've damage a couple in my time and they were brand new but failed because I hammered them on with block and hammer. 😥🤣👍🏾😎

My crankshaft pulley is rattling, should I not drive this vehicle atm ? Thx for sharing
I don't suggest it since the serpentine belt can slip off.
