I haven't got the book or chenille but i knew about the pile. It is in the same category with suede, velvet and corduroy. Learned about it the hard way. I watch Robyn's Love of Sewing and she showed how to sew the pinky fabric without the creeping. She used a product that seals bowls in the kitchen. I think it is Press'N Seal. It sticks to the fabric and prevents the sliding/creeping. It doesn't leave any of the stickiness on the fabric. I'm glad to see you back. You have been missed. I will pray for you.
Wow, what a wealth of info on this fabric! So it's chenille. Huh. I made a poncho out of it last year and wore it when I was traveling. It kept me cozy on a plane. And I even got compliments on it from airline gate agents! It was a simple McCall's pattern and now that I think about it, probably just the kind of pattern with few seams that this fabric likes. I almost never use clips, and I did use them with this fabric. You are so right, the fuzz got everywhere. It's pretty messy and I totally agree, trying to pin down a pattern and/or mark the fabric was a challenge. Did you know Claire has a TH-cam channel? She is a lovely woman. I got her book from a thrift store and when I did a haul video, she commented. She does these wonderful videos about classic designer fashion. I'd love to meet her.
Hey Jen...Ms. Friday Sews! ☺ I didn't know that Claire had a YT Channel. I will definitely be checking it out. Ooooooh...a chenille poncho...I bet that's cute. I already know it's comfy and perfect for traveling. Planes can be unpredictable at times but for me they are usually cold! 🥶. Smart move! Thanks for watching and sharing! Take care!
See how "busy" you get in retirement. I like you am trying to balance. That free time I was thinking I would have, gurl I ain't found it yet. Retired 1 year and busier then when I was working. I am thankful 🙏🏿 . You keep on keeping on, and when we see you, we see you. 😊
Hey Kindred! Hey! Oh my goodness. It is SOOO good to hear from you and you spittin’ truth up in here! I too am very thankful about this retired life. That last sentence...🔥🔥🔥. I love it and receive it! So glad you’re here! 😊🤓😎. Take care!
Hey hi. Glad to see you have returned. I missed your content and style. You look refreshed😊 your sewing advice is well acknowledged😉. I will keep you in my prayers🙏🏽
Miss T!!!!!!!!! It’s so good to have you back. You’ve been dearly missed. However, you came back with a bang! This is absolutely one of the best and most informative videos I’ve watched in quite a while. 1. I don’t have the book but, will be adding it to my wish list right now. 2. I don’t have any chenille fabric but, I have worked with faux furs, and I believe it’s similar. I too watched the video by Robyn’s love of sewing and plan on using the technique she showed the next time I use faux furs, and or sequins.
STELLY!! Our little collaboration just came and went didn't it. We will definitely have to reschedule. 😆. Thanks my friend. I am definitely going to have to check out Robyn's channel. Hope ALL is well with you and your family. Take care!
@@seestellysew8472 Hey Stella! Good question! YT recommended I clarify my channel and so I added "Sews" to Virginia's Daughter. Years ago I was "Virginia's Sew Blessed Daughter" and although it was all kinds of true back then and still is now ...it was TOO long!! so I shortened to Virginia's Daughter but my tagline has always been "ablesseddressmaker" and when I updated my YT info I used it too. I did notice that it looks like I changed my name. I may have to tweak it a bit, if possible. Hope this makes sense.
@@VirginiasDaughterSews it does. Lol, I didn’t want to start talking about collaboration plans with a stranger. Lol. Maybe, we can plan something for the winter months. I want to make the cape pattern you sent me, that I greatly love and appreciate. My suit plans went out the window with this extreme heat we’re having. I did cut a few out, but they sit unmade. So we can do that as well, if it works with your needs or plans.
@@seestellysew8472 Hahaha! I know that's right...can't be chatting it up with strangers. It's been hot here too. A cape...hmmm. That would be sharp. I love capes but don't have any at the moment. Sounds like a plan. If I start looking for patterns now I may come up with something by the time we decide. Let's do it this time...for real!
I’ve sewn with Chenille. I took it outdoors to cut it out. There was purple fluff blowing all around the neighbourhood….I vacuumed my clothes before I came back in the house. The garment didn’t fit right so instead of recutting it,I threw it out. I just couldn’t face the mess.
Hi Anne! Not sure how I missed this. That was smart to take it outdoors to cut out. "All around the neighborhood"😂😂, I believe it! ☺ That's unfortunate but I applaud you for knowing when to let go! Bravo!
