I Hope ALL is well with you all!
I had such high hopes for this dress but unfortunately it did not turn out the way I wanted. Of course this mishap could have been avoided and in this video I give you my three reasons why.
Ugly projects are a waste of time! Don't make the same mistakes!

The dress looks great on you, and the fabric is awesome. It's the twist using that fabric that is an issue.

Hang on a moment you might find you fall for it again after sometime
Often things I make for myself I don’t like at completion especially if it’s given problems I guess I’m just over the item by then
But very often if I put it away and leave it a while the next time I try it I don’t remember why I disliked it so much and now kinda do like it and will wear it
I hope that happens with your dress because it looks good on, great fit, It seems comfortable and you certainly can move around in it

The saddest thing is I can see your vision of that dress and if it had worked, it would have been spectacular! Can you use the dress/fabric to remake it into another, maybe chemise style, dress? The dresses and tops with the "knot" ... "twist?" ... anyway, are all over the place and I like the idea but I know I can't wear it. I know I just don't like fuss of any kind on that part of my body. I could deal with a little twist on the side seam/hem of a pair of linen pants, perhaps. You know as cute as something is and I find myself drawn to it, I always try to mentally put the garment on, style it and wear it around . . . that's my "avoid" the temptation exercise. Still I've made ugly . . . Beautiful fabric that looks makes you sparkle -- I hope you can find a way of reusing it! 💖

It's not the dress is ugly, its that you have better style, I look at you and see a woman who is clearly classy with a dramatic classic style.

I like it I wouldnt wear a dress that targets my belly area because it isn’t flattering. I like it on you but you have to like it yourself to wear it. Maybe donate instead of trashing someone might enjoy it. Thanks for sharing.

Would you consider dying it black, navy or another dark color? I think the twist would look better in a solid color. Another idea: make slashes to create panels and wear it in a shortened version over pants or leggings.

I have B6893 which also has a twist knot. I made it in bubble crepe and kinda felt the same way you do. So it's not just the fabric. Maybe there is just something about that style...😅

So glad to see you. You must be sending out some vibes as I just put this one on the sewing table to cut. Your dress ..the style is nice. The fabric is nice. The fabric was too much for the twist, or the twist was too much for that fabric.. I do feel like if you cut off the skirt n kept the top, it would be a winner. I was gonna use a loop back terry and clearly, that is not gonna work. So now I got to rethink my fabric choice. Thanks for sharing. And as normal, I am laughing bcuz I agree there is no styling something we think is ugly. Always here for you 😊. Keep on keeping on.

Take that twist out and make it a normal seam...love the fabric and I think you can make it better...I like the faux wrap much better than the twist...

I have this pattern also. Actually I think it was one of the first 30 patterns I bought when I started in 2020. I keep flipping past it because of my experience with McCalls 7975- too much going on in that middle section for my body shape. I need to let goof my copy b/c I really don’t see me ever sewing it

I have made this pattern and I actually liked it. I think I made changes as I’ve made 2 or 3 other twist tie dresses.

I like the dress I think the fabric is too heavy for the pattern. I have that pattern, but I will make a different view. The dress looks good on you, and the fit is perfect.

Hey T, it’s so good to see you. Alls well with me, I’m completing 2 unfinished projects. They were both 1960’s coats, that I’m upcycling into 1940’s inspired suits. I’m going to enter them into frugalisima’s sew frugal challenge for this month. I really want to do a video about it but, I need to wait and see. Ok, about your dress, I like it. The fabric is the bomb. I don’t have that pattern, so I wouldn’t have made it. I need no help in the mid section. I looking forward to your upcoming posts.

Sorry about your sweater knit Butterick dress, I guess it's better to "let it go"😢. You've made a valiant effort to salvage the situation. The fit on the neck bodice is nice. I've been chasing that Simplicity 9785 pattern on sale for months but keep missing the sale or they don't have it available 😢. Love what you are doing with the Gucci treatment ! I have missed your videos. They are always entertaining, and your makes are always so well done. You sometimes have different themes for your videos, including finishing old projects, going through patterns, etc., and I like that format. You make me laugh, and I do admire your workmanship. Sorry to disagree with you, but if that's an ugly dress, then I am Emma Stone (and I definitely am not). The fabric is great, and I think the dress looks good on you. But if you pass it along to someone else, I hope she likes it. (By the way, big Ohio State fan here, so I enjoy it when you wear an OSU shirt--which may not appeal to all of your followers, but it does make me happy.)

That fabric color is unflattering to you, and the fabric is too stiff to get a nice flowing knot effect.
