CIRCA 2003-2005 WOULD YOU BUY ANY OF THESE PATTERNS? I SHOULD HAVE MADE THEM WHEN I HAD THE CHANCE!

  • Hey, Hey, Hey,
In an effort to purge my sewing pattern collection I have began the process of taking a closer look at the patterns that I've gathered over the years. It's time to decide which ones I should:
    1) SELL - Let me know if you see something you like!
    2) DONATE
    3) PITCH (throw away)
    4) KEEP
If you're anything like I am about patterns and fabric you can imagine that this is going to be much easier said...than done.
So far, I've purged patterns from the 1940's 50's, 60's, 70's 80's (although you have not seen this purge due to lost footage...😩) 90's and now the 2000's. I inherited quite a few patterns from Virginia but managed to purchase quite a few of my own.
This purge has allowed me to: 1) make more room in the pattern storage, 2) find patterns pieces/envelopes/instructions that have been misplaced/misfiled, 3) decide which patterns I really love and no longer love, 4) share sewing patterns through donations, 5) pitch patterns that should have been pitched a while ago, 6) identify patterns than can be sold and 7) develop a system for each pattern once I've used it...in other words - do I keep it? sell it? donate it? or pitch it?
The goal is to avoid having a pattern collection that is in extreme excess. Let's see how I do.
Anybody else up for this ride? If so, please join me and for those of you who have a system of purging let us know how you do it.

It's interesting that you were very methodical and pretty dispassionate about this batch. You said what you liked or admitted you didn't love something enough to keep it. It seemed a lot easier for you than some past batches, where you had stories, memories, and connections to specific patterns, which made the process more challenging.
Do you think you just had less attachment to this batch, or maybe your pattern buying habits and motives in that era were different? Or maybe it just that a rousing chorus of "feels good" has magical powers! 😅

🤔 Hmmmm. Good observation. I’d have to say that I’m not exactly sure how that happened like that. One thing is for sure though…the magical powers part. 😂. Thanks for tuning in. Take care!

Have the size measurements changed much from 2000s to now?
