This playthrough is the perfect mix of being casual enough to enjoy the game for what it is and being skilled enough to enjoy watching without commentary.

These stages look more official than the game's actual stages. I love it.
*THIS* is the successor to the first two Super Monkey Ball games I always wanted to see. Kudos to Bites for such a well designed hack!
There was an official sequel to the frist two Super Monkey Ball games called Super Monkey Ball Deluxe (DX), but it was only available on PS2 and X-BOX. It contained all the Levels from the aforementioned games as well as a bunch of new ones, bringing the total amount of stages to 300. Don't get too excited though, because with how many stages the first two games have, the amount of new ones only clocks at 45. Also, they changed a few stages, the most notable being Master EX 10, "Nintendo." Because of copyright, the GameCube platform you roll on was changed to resemble a 6-sided die and was renamed, "Destiny." Also, they completely butchered some of the SMB1 Music, since the Space theme is gone and replaced with the Arctic theme, while the Arctic plays the Sky-High theme and I don't know why! Oh, and Story Mode doubles the amount of stages you go through with 20 per World instead of the previous 10, but the SMB2 Party Games remain untouched. Because of instances such as these, I actually consider this, and several other SMB2 hacks to be superior, but mostly because it's all-new Levels and the sound wasn't tampered with in the slightest! Hell, if you really want, there IS a hack of SMB2 that includes all the DX Levels, but it fixes the sound issues, though any Dole or Nintendo references remain cut for copyright reasons.
Deluxe is not a sequel. It’s an enhanced port.
I like how the Master Extra theme is the bonus theme.
It's almost a devilish choice for the Master Extra, but it's also painfully fitting.
People often complain about how the Bonus stages in the original SMB were too short for this track. Well, they can't complain now.
As evil/fitting as that is, it's also a reference to the original arcade Monkey Ball where the Master Level took place in the Bonus Area! Kinda wish Super Monkey Ball 2 did that for its Master Extra Levels instead of just rehashing the World 10 aesthetic since the second half of Master Levels also takes place there, but oh well.

If you put any of these levels in one of the original monkey ball games you wouldn’t be able to tell they were fan made. So professional looking, I love it
Except Flow and Elsa's Castle From Frozen. Flow is a little glitched, and the name for the latter doesn't sound official. But the fact that there's only 2 that don't fit is still very impressive. Bites is amazing at this!

Yeah, and the final Master Extra Level; despite being entirely new, is also a small nod to the original Master Level; being a series of increasingly thinner paths you have to take to reach the goal; albeit mostly invisible and much longer. And when you name a super-tough level like that “Oh screw this!” you instantly win my seal of approval!
This is amazing! A great tribute to SMB1. Preferably, I wish Master Extra's music could have been the credits theme from SMB1 instead of the bonus stage theme. That song is completely underrated and I've always wanted it to be used in stages with the star background from that game.
That probably would've been a bit much for the game to handle, fan-made hack or otherwise. But it's really cool that the Bonus Area was used as the aesthetic for Master Extra, seeing that the original Japanese-only arcade Monkey Ball used it for its Master Level too! And yes, I said Master Level in singular since there was only one Master Level in the arcade release, and it was the infamous Master 9 from SMB1, otherwise known as "Bridge Master" from Super Monkey Ball Deluxe.
That final stage is INSANE

Bites's level design is really incredible. These things would be perfect in a classic Super Monkey Ball game. I'm super excited for Rolled Out!

@@draco4569 He's been posting weekly devlogs and somewhat regularly doing dev streams. There's several people on the team doing everything from music to level design to physics. Its definitely still getting worked on!
I absolutely LOVE the Mario Party 4 reference with Bookworm. Also, Elsa's Castle kind of resembles a Touch & Roll level, although I don't remember which. And Rift feels really epic. Not to mention, the theme they went with for the Master Extra stages is genius, and it adds a really nice aesthetic to stages like Temples! This is a fantastic hack, and it's easy to appreciate thanks to your excellent gameplay allowing for a seamless flow through the levels.

You're definitely talking about Tornado. Circular paths that ascend or descend. Road to Nowhere is Meteorite Mayhem.
Also, Road to Nowhere is an adaptation of "Wind" (Expert... 26??) From SMB1.
Not gonna lie. These custom levels get pretty beautiful. Makes me think that not only should Super Monkey Ball (1, 2 and Deluxe) be re-released, but have lots more levels as well. I know there's at least 300 in Deluxe, but...never hurt to add more, right?
it seems like a really good fit for switch but only if they use the joystick. It'd probably be a really good game on the go.
@J K SMB Deluxe actually plays better on the Xbox.
@Dominic Delagol I think these new levels should be saved for Super Monkey Ball 3 after Deluxe gets a rerelease. Maybe there can be an entire game where people can create Monkey Ball levels.
In all likely hood, SEGA probably dropped the series after 3D didn't sell too well.
Alberto Productions super monkey ball deluxe was actually ment to be 3 that’s why there’s different backgrounds and 42 new levels, but they never released it

Watching this reminded me of why this game gave me serious anxiety when I was younger. It still does.
Yes, but I think this game is amazing in that the difficulty curve is smoother than the official games in both challenge mode and story mode. Even though the high end of that curve is higher than the official games.
I remember in Super Monkey Ball 2, the first really hard stage I encountered was in World 3: Reversible Gear. The next few were in world 4: Launchers, Seesaw Bridges, and Arthropod (and sometimes Giant Comb). I didn't encounter levels that hard in this hack until worlds 6 and 7, which is much better. World 10 in this game is WAY harder than World 10 in the original, though. YIKES!!

I love how all of them give you a ton of bananas and 200 seconds on the clock. Really balances out the fact that you start with a maximum of 5 lives.
I’m shook that the bonus world; the world that’s supposed to be your friend, is the location for Master Extra; containing the stuff of nightmares.

The first custom levels made were basically kaizo levels which make the last level look like a cake walk

Absolutely fantastic level pack. I'll have to admit I was able to beat every stage except for ME6 hook, I had to use save stats to get past that point. Bites was not playing games when he made the master stages. Love the creativity on the levels tho

It makes sense to have it only take 50 bananas for a 1up instead of 100 because these levels are supposed to be harder than the original Super Monkey Ball's 1 and 2. Even some of the beginner levels are way more challenging than the original.

I heard from Geoff that if you press the Z button, the game changes from Super Monkey Ball 2 style to Super Monkey Ball 1 style control-wise. Pressing Z again changes it back.

I really do love Bites level packs. This one was insane, only one I just couldnt beat was HOOK. IDK if you ever checked out my IL compilation for Monkeyed ball 1, I believe its the only one out there and Ive been following you for YEARS, so you were pretty much my primary inspirtation :D if you checked it out (less than 5 min) and left a comment Id literally shit my pants. In my opinion, “Oh, Screw This!” Is slightly harder, just because you have to figure out what it wants you to do.
Those Expert Extra stages are just cruel. I cannot for the life of me get past em all on one continue.

Oh, Screw This! is the most fitting name a stage has ever received. Longer and mostly invisible version of Bridge Master, which is already one of the hardest levels to begin with.

@@TheBestPikachuFan Sword is just plain anxiety-inducing if you're not used to corner rolls. And sometimes still is even if you are. Hook is also nasty, because believe it or not, the entire stage is also on a SEESAW!!

Hey so i got this custom level set, I see on the wiki that there is an xml patch to get more than 5 lives to start challenger, how do I get this xml patch for Dolphin? I cant find anything on line.

Also anyone else noticed a glitch with this map pack where this map pack wont save advanced extra levels or expert advanced levels past level 5. I want to be able to practice those levels later on but Dolphin doesnt seem to ever save them when i reach them in challenger mode. Is this a common issue?

These levels look really good and fun to play but I have no idea how to actually get the hack and make it playable for myself. How does one actually do that after downloading the hack?
Either use the Dolphin emulator (that's what I do) or use a Homebrewed Wii with an ISO loader, such as Nintendont.
Anyone have a link to the download that ISN'T MEGA? MEGA is malfunctioning for me. The website won't even load, and refreshing it does nothing to fix the problem.

I want to try a Monkey Ball 2 hack, maybe even this one specifically, but I have a question. What will happen to my save data? Will it make a new save file? Will it use the same save file as the one for vanilla Super Monkey Ball 2? If so, will I still be able to play vanilla Super Monkey Ball 2?
Depending on the hack, it will either make a new save file or use the vanilla one. I think this hack makes a new save.

imagine a pack like smb deluxe but it has SMB1, SMB2, and Monkeyed Ball 2 Merged together, along with a bunch of other custom levels
One of the creators on the SMB Level Workshop remade Super Monkey Ball DX on Super Monkey Ball 2. However, since they couldn't force Story Mode to have 20 stages and only require you to beat 10, they removed all the SMB2 levels from Story Mode. Challenge Mode remains unchanged, though.

Not to sound clueless, but am I able to install this on my Wii using the homebrew channel?
Yes. Install Nintendont on your USB or SD card and create a folder called "games" on the root directory on your SD or USB, and download the ISO file for this and put it in the games folder, then you're good to go. U have to have a gamecube controller to play, though
My favorite level is Tradeoff (Expert 35), but everything is well made.

You can't do checkpoints in Super Monkey Ball! The best way you could accomplish something similar would be to split up one large level into multiple levels that come sequentially after each other.
The lack of checkpoints and the short+sweet nature of the stages in this game are part of why I love it, and love designing for it, though.
