You can see how much it pained Matt to have to hang Alejandro out to dry, but Alejandro was a realist and he knew his position, there was no animosity. Glad he made it in the end, but he didn't have a great time doing it.
One of the best movie I've ever seen. I can't forget the dark and grim fate that Alejandro experienced. And, I was happy to see that he's still alive. Chilling ending that make me expect the next movie.

Awesome film, best of its kind since Black Hawk Down. This director has incredible action chops. Josh and Benicio are just in top form. I wasn't expecting it to be as good as the 1st film (one of my favs) but its almost better, the approach is different as it's a straight up actioner with a great story that really draws you in. Bring on #3 Alejandro's Revenge! PS: Taylor Sheridan is an exceptional writer, everything he does is incredible- if you liked this see Wind River.
benicio’s character is written very differently in this one. in the 1st movie he was a cold killer but in the sequel he’s more humane and vulnerable, you may say a bit out of character but in my opinion it’s growth.
starman That's because he was out for revenge in the first movie. His Revenge was completed in the first film also. So he appears to be less cold and brutal in the second film. But make no mistake he is still a sicario. Which makes him still very dangerous if you piss him off.

He may have been a cold blooded killer in the first movie but he still had morals, if you remember he left the maid/housewife alive when it would make his life easier to kill all the witnesses at the end of the movie. I don't think that this humane attitude is out of character, he probably has a special place in his heart for little girls considering his daughter

Alejandro had no choice but to protect the girl and get her across the border, to avoid getting killed. The ending was so cheesy... “you want to be a Sicario?” It would’ve been way more powerful if they cut the movie to the ending credits when that spoilt brat of a kid opens the door and to his shock finds Alejandro alive. And as the door closes, you hear a gun shot. I’d much rather have him be screwed and scared than be persuaded to be a “hitman” when all he’s really being is a “thug lyf got in with the wrong crowd teenager” ughhhhh

As someone who has driven in convoys with indigenous police forces of questionable loyalty, this scene was incredibly tense for me. I had my wife next to me during the film. Right as this scene started, I began to focus on the M240 gunner, whose vehicle was tailing a little slower than the other Federales and ultimately provided the blocking point for the HMMWVs. "Him. I don't like him," I told her. "Keep your eye on that '240 gunner." Sure enough, green on blue. Funny to note: Matt calls contact on left side @ 100m. He is looking -and the target is engaged- on his right side. Still, powerful scene.
She came across as an arrogant drug princess to a traumatized little girl who had been kidnapped, shot at (three times), almost raped and kidnapped again to be ransomed off. While the boy became a drug dealer/human trafficker who we never find out his fate at the end of the movie.
That was just such a badass movie, absolute loved it just as first one! And this is first time i feel weard about that kind of open ending, like yeah movie could ended so much cooler but hell yes i want Sicario 3!

This was a good action movie, but really lacked something compared to the first. I think that Blunt's character, or an equivalent, was sorely missed; she was the baseline that made the other characters seem so wild.
A dude as both savage and savvy as Josh Brolin's character would've looked that spineless politician in the eye and, without blinking, said "Ok", only to wait for her to leave, turn to his crew and say "we don't do this to our people." Total writers' license to advance the story. I wonder what Larry Vickers would say.
He basically did respond in that way though, he just didn't say it. He was choked up by Alejandro's supposed death and went on to massacre the guys in the back of the truck in revenge. He was never going to the border crossing to kill Alejandro, he was going there to ensure his safe passage.
American audiences always miss the point of this movie's ending. They assume Alejandro survived to keep doing America's dirty work. What they fail to realize is that the ending is ambiguous, and we are left to ponder if Matt and the U.S. President just created a radicalized terrorist enemy of the U.S.. Remember that Alejandro's fight is against those who've wronged him, and abandoning him in the desert when he needed support more than ever fits the category of wronging him. He could be recruiting the young guy to go after the cartel, but he could also be recruiting him for a war of revenge against Matt and the U.S..
His calm demeanour is everything. Del toro steals the show. Such great movies.

just saw it, dont expect it to be as thrilling and disturbing as the first one folks, but it was a good movie overall.
