1952 Caterpillar D4 7U17655 toolbar dozer from Nebraska comes home Episode

We head to Nebraska and pickup a 1952 Cat toolbar bulldozer! The Ford F-350 got a workout this trip. The Caterpillar crawler is SN 7U17655. She needs a few things but will definitely hold us over while we work on 4G9986. Come along for the ride!
Sorry for the music montage again. My camera keeps recording without audio for some reason. I really miss my son, he was great with electronics. Slowly but surely I will figure it out.

I also have a D4 with a toolbar. I have the toolbar for it but have never swung it to the back. I’d like to swing it to the he back with a ripper tooth or two for one of the shows next year. Mine has somewhat of a miss when it idles but clears up and pulls good under load.

I would love to find a toolbar. Plan to give it a pull with a plow. I need to work on the fuel system first.

Looks like a pretty good tractor. There are timing adjustments you can make on the pump. You need a dept mike. The old cats need a different fuel than the low sulphur fuel sold today. You need to add a supplement to make it more oily. Your dozer likely weighs about 13000 pounds. Pretty good load for a 2 axle trailer. We have a 1940 7J and a 49 7U our 7J is a good machine. The 7U is a POS. We have a video of the 7U on our channel.

We plan to make some adjustments to the pump. That is a good thought on the low sulphur fuel. I will look for a suppliment.

I also have a 7U toolbar. My eyelids started twisting when I saw the starting fluid though. Great machine and I have worked mine hard pulling disc and pushing dirt.

😄 Yeah, we know better too! The pony leaks oil so bad I was worried about running it out. We plan to get it out this Summer to push some dirt! Thanks for watching.
