Injectors would have been a good class for me to have. Honestly, I am very fascinated by steam. I was always afraid of injectors for the longest time. One day I just decided to tear into them and figure it out. Hope the packing is going well! 😊

Somehow I think a lot of people have the same reaction to my videos, 🤣. Sadly, for some reason I seem to have to learn everything the hard way. You can try searching eBay for the service kit part number I just got very lucky. Hopefully your injector guy pulls off that miracle for you! 🤞I have to say, your comment made me laugh out loud. What's even worse is when I watched the video after it was uploaded I did the same thing. 😀

I'll keep my eyes open for one. We are also looking for a valve grinding setup. I've learned how to do the inverted injector test from antique crawler parts. Assuming everything else goes smoothly, 😬🤞 I should be able to at least test them that way.

A seller in Albania had them. I bought five of them and that was all he had. It was a really lucky find because these are very unobtainium. 😉

They are very high quality parts. I was very very lucky to find them from a seller in Albania. I've actually had good luck with the smaller seals and gaskets still available at caterpillar. I think because the manufacturing cost is low. 😀

Those Studebaker tools are probably worth golden themselves! When we were in business every heavy truck and pickup truck carried enough tools to fix a quick hydraulic leak at the bare minimum. 👍

I agree! For the money the SK Tools are very underrated and often overlooked. Coincidentally, yesterday I went to the local tractor parts store where they used to carry SK Tools. I needed another wrench in a size we only have one of. Unfortunately they quit carrying SK a couple months ago. The toolbox we keep our impact Tools in is a general. 👍

We have always appreciated the durability, quality and longevity of Lufkin tools. I'm always on the lookout for them. In the future I plan to do a video how about the tools we use to cut grade and set elevations for foundations. We used some Lufkin devices for that as well. Plus now I have too much junk to move, 🤣. We are way further along actually than the ESP short video. We've been working on the project day after day trying to get it done in time for the show so I have video stacked up for months. We're not there yet but we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Safe travels, 🙏.

I love those F12s! I'm sorry to hear that you didn't get your grandfather's tools. I hate to think that if I had to start over accumulating tools it would be very hard today. I don't know if I've ever told you but your name cracks me up every time I see it. I do like South Park! 😉

That sounds like some good ideas for future videos. I think when the project is done we're going to recap all the specialty tools we used for the D4. 👍

That's very true. Our old caterpillar tools that will also someday be lost to history. Some of my favorite tools are the same ones grandfather used. 😀

I remember as a kid going to Sears and looking at all the Craftsman tools, great memories.

Me too, those were the days. Craftsman was always coming out with new tool ideas. Some were gimmicky and others I just absolutely fell in love with.

When we do the 5T 5 roller track frame we're going to make it OD Green. It's a 1945 so it would be completely period. The original tractor paint we were using was called Highway yellow. To Dad and I it can appear slightly darker than the paint we ordered. ☺️

I will have to definitely clarify that. Olive drab green, 😃. I think that's one thing I'm bad about in my videos is not explaining the language. Our shop dialog probably makes it hard for new viewers like calling the D4 4G. 👍

We have a bit of a similar but tedious plan. We will heat the problematic pins with the torch, then hopefully work them loose. I suspect your idea would have a similar effect. Heat is definitely our go-to, 🤣. 👍

That is definitely very likely the colors are very comparable. My grandfather brought that giant valve back from a trip to visit family in Louisiana. I think it was out of a natural gas compressor station.

We definitely learned our lesson. I wish we could have started from scratch with the automotive paint. In the long run, as you said it's more economical. So far I've noticed that the quality is better. It also sprays better and we don't have the issues with runs. I suppose hindsight is 20/20 so hopefully the next one will go smoother. 👍
