    • @robmertzig4911
      @robmertzig4911 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @LearnwithTravis how big of a difference in resistance at the high end is the sunny to your peloton would you say? I like the bells and whistles of the IC4 but i just returned an echelon connect sport (walmart only) bike due to the high end being low.

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@robmertzig4911 The Sunny has solid top end resistance, but the Peloton still had a good amount more. For my Sunny, the top resistance provided a hard spin but I could ride through it. Peloton at max is very difficult. Hope that helps.

      @Learnwithtravis  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure of the specifics but each loses a little functionality from the others. Ic2 has smaller flywheel and neither mention a cadence sensor for peloton digital or a resistance display like the ic4. I only took a quick look though as I have not had my hands on these bikes.

    We tackled assembling the bike as a family project. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxzg0clhbtRf2gGxPkVETFKJJKGqdsorQu The package is heavy, but I have 2 teen boys that were able to move it. The written instructions were great- we didn't need to watch the videos, but it was good knowing that the option was there if we needed it. After we were able to get it set up, the boys each rode 3 miles and I rode 8 and the bike stayed quiet. The display is easy to reset, and you can put it on whichever setting you are using (time, distance, calories, etc). I will say that my butt is a little sore from the seat, but that could be because I haven't rode in a while. While it is comfortable for me, it was not comfortable with the seat position for my friend (could not move the seat back far enough and he slightly looked like a kid riding a tricycle that he had outgrown). He also said that the seat hurt his manly parts. We are going to look for a different seat that will be compatible with this bike for him.I did purchase the Wahoo Cadence sensor and strapped it to the crank of one of the pedals. This will sync with my Apple Watch, iPhone and will import data in to my Health app. Wahoo does have other sensors available other than cadence. I can also keep either my phone or my iPad on the display and they both feel pretty secure.

    Nice review. Wish my daughter had bought the Sunny. She got an IC4, delivered on Mar. 29. I installed it for her and we test rode it for about 10 mins. It immediately developed a howling belt. We called Schwinn. They said there was no way to send a technician because of Covid. So, they offered to send us the parts and we could install a new belt. This repair requires some tools including their proprietary crank puller tool. They said the belt would arrive in 8 biz days. The tool needed to be back ordered (20 biz days). The belt arrived. When it was time to receive the tool, they sent an email saying it would now be 45 biz days. So, the bike purchased at end March would be usable earliest some time in June. After a couple phone calls, both of which necessitated 1 hour hold times, they were apologetic, but could offer no other solution. Schwinn were handed a windfall from Peloton and Covid. They couldn't execute. We shall see if the crank puller arrives, or we get yet another delay email. BTW, if you return the bike, they expect you to pay shipping, despite it not working to spec. How's that for a raw deal. My conclusion: Don't buy the IC4.

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Shane and so sorry to hear you ran into this nightmare situation. That is too bad you have to pay for shipping. Most of this sounds like the result of Covid and the terrible situation it has put us in, but the bike being damaged on arrival and having to pay to ship back definitely sounds bad on Schwinn's part. I will say this is the first time I have heard of problems like this, so hopefully it is not common, but really sorry to hear what you have had to deal with. I hope it resolves itself soon and it is a distant memory before long!

    Nice... I’ve had my IC4 since early December. 62 and really enjoy the simplicity of how everything has its place. I’m more of a leisure exerciser usually about 25 miles a day. My wife ( of 32 Great Years ) Is a Exceptional Triathlete and she Rides the IC4 Very Hard. I watch the 55 in TV (The Middle or Leave It to Beaver) She uses her Lap Top and Trains with Trainers on the internet. Over all we both enjoy the IC4 very much. Thanks so much for the information you have shared. I found it very informative.... Great Job. Thank You. :-)) PS it Looks Great in the Living Room.....

    This was a very helpful review and comparison. I've been shopping around for months and finally narrowed it between these two. I ended up going with the IC4 because Schwinn offered a much better warranty. Schwinn offers 3 years electrical/mechanical, 1 for labor and 10 for frame) vs 6 months parts/components and 3 years for frame for Sunny. While it is something you might not ever need to utilize, it is nice to know that it's there.

      That's bizarre. I checked and it was sold out on Amazon (but still listed as like $480) but when I checked Sunny's website directly it had the B1805 listed as like $700! They also mentioned a delay in shipping due to COVID 19 but I'm glad to hear the shipping seems to be happening more quickly than their website indicates.

    Hey Travis, thank you so much for such in-depth and unbiased reviews. I can't tell you how much time I spent between all your videos the past week, and you broke everything down in such a great way. I'd been considering a Peloton for moooooonths now but the financial hit was making it impossible to pull the trigger; I finally decided to go with the Sunny based on your reviews and I'm really excited to get started (nervous! But I'm hopeful that the app will keep me motivated). Just wanted to thank you so much for putting this all out here, it really helped so much. - Katia

    I really like this fair comparison. With some reviews, you just have the impression they are one-sided, making their personal taste (like the saddle) objective criteria, and I wonder why they do that. Or posting things they "hate" about a specific bike. This here is more factual, feels independent and is really good - thanks so much for making the effort. It confirms my decision to go for IC4 vs. Sunny, but with less budget I would have gotten a really good bike with the Sunny too.

    While i decide which bike to get, I have purchased the wahoo cadence sensor (added to my old-school, 5 year old, folding upright) to tide me over, loaded the Peloton app with FREE 30 day trial, put on my apple watch and am able to see my HR, cadence, calories and duration on my ipad pro, sitting quaintly on my $120 Pro-form starter bike (don't tell anyone...)
    I am torn between the two you've just reviewed, and either the Joroto or MaxKare from Amazon, $399 + $ 340 respectively. MUST SAY IT WAS VERY COOL and rather unbelievable that I was able to get a quasi-peloton experience with this set-up, requiring only the $39 Wahoo purchase. Whichever upgraded indoor spin bike I choose, I'll probably continue with the $12.99/month paid version of Peloton digital app. Thanks for your review.

    Thanks for your video! I bought the IC4 and really like it... Tried it with Zwift using my new 2 in 1 Dell laptop. I found that the laptop folded into tablet mode doesn't fit between the brackets - but manages to rest with just a bit of the case under the brackets - I think I'll figure out something simple to add secure my laptop while using it... so I don't risk it falling off. My intent today is to try out some of the other services e.g. Peloton, Explore the World... I highly recommend the IC4.

    Very nice review. I’m a Zwifter, haven’t really looked into Peloton at all. I already pay $14.95 a month for Zwift. My plan was to get a Sunny and then hook it up with both cadence and speed sensors and then replace the left crank shaft with a Stages power meter so that I can Zwift. I’m trying to save wear and tear on my carbon bike frames since I am a larger individual who puts a lot of stress on a frame when I stand up. The extra cost of the supplemental sensors is supposed to be offset by the benefit of the reported heavier flywheel and therefore increased potential resistance over the IC4. The problem has been finding out the length of the Sunny crank shaft. I already have a crankshaft power meter on my road bike that I ride only in the spring and summer that I could switch out during the winter with the Sunny but they have to be the same length. I’m worried that the IC4 won’t provide enough resistance given that every video I’ve watched has stated that the Sunny provides harder resistance. I’ve been going back and forth for a few weeks now. I think I’ll just go with the IC4 because the power meter is already built in and that’s very very difficult to find in a bike at that price. I am also 6’2” and a little heavier and older but it was great to hear and see one video where banging the knees against the water bottle holder wasn’t really an issue. If it is, I will just detach it. I have a table beside my workout area. I really enjoyed your video. Thank you for taking the time to make it.

    Another great review. Thank you Travis. I'm all but sold on the Schwinn IC4, but I do have a question (apart from "Will you lend me the money to buy it?" J/K! ). If I already have a smart television on the wall in the room where I'll be riding, can I do a screencast from the tablet to the television, so I can watch the Peloton app or Zwift app on the larger screen? Or would I need to run a interconnecting cable? Thanx again. Keep up the good work!

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks S Rowe! Which setup would you be using? (What tablet type to what TV input) I use IOS, which of last check has more features with Peloton Digital than the Android app, and can test with that. I use a Roku, so I could test IOS to Roku and see if that works. Outside of that, I might not have the ability to test other combos. Last time I checked, the Peloton Digital app did not have any screen casting options built in so you would have to use the devices screen casting functionality.

    Outstanding review Travis.
    It looks like it comes down to resistance display or not.
    Currently (3/28) a $245 price difference between the two.
    Add a wahoo sensor and you are looking at $200 difference for basically the ability to view your actual resistance. I personally think that is too steep a price to pay for that creature comfort - Ill take the heavier flywheel and enjoy the intuitive nature behind the Sunny! Thanks for the review - Oh and IC4 is 45 business days expected delivery! The Sunny is a few days on Amazon. So no brainer!

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nice! and I agree with you. For that price difference, I would go Sunny. It is a tough call because knowing resistance helps with the "Peloton Experience", and I know a lot of people would lose motivation if they felt like it was challenging to be immersed in the ride. I go back and forth, but if I had to choose one, I think even I would go with the Sunny. Again, both great bikes, but I would pick a little better ride over the features of the IC4. Depends on personality and what you match up with. Enjoy you new ride!!!

      No worries at all. In my case the IC4 made the slightest of noise. Really should not call it noise. Just a very light humming sound. It was nothing. The Sunny was basically silent. One thing I would consider is getting an exercise mat. It helps to dampen the sound and in your case would probably be a smart move. But I can't imagine these being a problem for you or neighbors.

    Hi Travis! Great video! Based on your preferences would you get the Echelon ex3 or Schwinn ic4? Really value your opinion.

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Nicole! Thank you! I have been really thinking about this one and struggling to provide an answer. I have not tested the ex3 so it is hard for me to say. If you asked about the ex5 vs IC4, I probably would say ex5. I think the ex3 is close to the ex5 but a smaller flywheel (not 100 percent sure). Some of this may depend on if you are going to be using Peloton digital. If you are, the IC4 displays resistance in a 0 - 100 scale like the Peloton making it easier to match up with Peloton rides. Cadence also pairs to the app which makes jumping right into Peloton digital easier. Although I know people have commented about enjoying using their Echelon for Peloton rides. So, maybe slightly leaning towards IC4 if you really want to go full Peloton.... If not, and you are going to use the Echelon system or other options, I would probably say ex3. But very hard to say because I honestly don't know and am guessing a little based on my ex5 experience. I hope that helps!

    @3693BE 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Just a fantastic comparison snd exactly what I was looking for, thank you very much! Quick question about the IC4 with the Peleton app. Does this combo essentially give you everything the actual Peleton gives you except maybe precise adjustments? Thank you!

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much and glad to help! It gives you a lot but there are a few things here and there missing. On the actual Peloton you can see your resistance on screen and with the IC4 you have to look on the IC4's monitor. Hardly a big deal. The biggest thing is that you lose the leaderboard. If you love the competitive nature of competing against others, then not having that could be a bummer. If you are more into the instruction led side of things and doing your thing, it is very close to a Peloton ride and you are not missing too much. Hope that helps!

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The IC4 is great if you want versatility. For example, you might want to put Peloton content on for a month, then switch to Zwift, then iFit, and you might want times where you use TH-cam or watch movies. It is setup to load different options on your own tablet and let you work out how you want. The Echelon is more of a one stop stop. I think it is a little bit better bike than the IC4 (Both are good) and you have that Echelon user interface and content readily available. Makes it more of an easy no excuses option because it is ready to go with lots of content options ready, but you are locked into only Echelon content. So, more of a "how do you plan to use the bike" answer, but hope this helps!

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You don't...exactly. But, you can still get a pretty good idea. For example, many instructors will describe a resistance of 30 as flat road. So You can dial the resistance around until it is comparable to a flat road or slight resistance. From there, you can figure out how many turns it takes until it feel more like a steep hill climb which may represent a resistance of 70 or so. Or you could spin the resistance until you get to the max so you know how many turns between 30 and 100. This will help give you a ball park of how much to turn it for various changes. I know when reading this, it may sound difficult or like too much work, but it is really not that bad if you are leaning towards the Sunny. So many people have done this and are very happy with their workout and ability to still match the Peloton instructors.

As I understand you can't sync a heart rate monitor and cadence sensor to the peloton app on a Android or Firestick. the IC4 having the realtime display is great and I guess you can do it with the Sunny and some add ons. But what app would you recommend records the heart rate and cadence sensor (maybe speed too) of a work out and display's ones progress overtime. Looking for another method to keep my motivation up. I think you had a video about the fitbit and how you can dump peloton data to it bu no real deep dive

      I have mostly used the IOS devices but you are right about a video idea for Android devices. It might be a little while before I can get to it. So hitting up Peloton chat might get you a quicker answer but I will start playing around with Android. Good luck!

    How does the sunny 1851 compare to the Schwinn Ic4? A must have for me is that the resistance knob match with the peloton as I want to use the app. I’ve ordered an IC4 and my gut says just to wait out the 6 weeks...but I really want a bike sooner than that! Thanks for the awesome video, exactly the type of info I needed. I had 99% decided on a Peloton, then researched and realized trying the app with a less pricey bike would be a better way to start out. Then decided on the Schwinn, but it just dropped off Amazon, so I looked at the Bowflex version, but it's $150 more and sounds like a 1-2 month delivery time? Was wondering if the Sunny was a comparable/worthy choice and from this vid, sounds like it's a solid bike. At this point I'm just hoping I can get something shipped in a decent amount of time, lol.

    After watching your review I was thinking i would go with the IC4 because of all features, but i noticed that Dicks sporting good has the Sunny SF-B1913 which has a monitor for speed, cadence, distance, calories, time, and pulse. It seems like an upgrade to the model you reviewed. The current price is 599.99 plus 85.00 for shipping. So now I am leaning to the Sunny SF-B1913 and was wondering if you have checked this model out and had any thoughts on it. Thanks for your great reviews.

      Thanks Mark! I have had my eye on that one to review, as I agree that it looks like a nice improvement. That price seems great as it is listed for 799 on the Sunny website. The big difference between that model and the IC4 is that you will not have your resistance displayed so make sure you are okay with that. While I have not reviewed the 1913 yet, it seems like a really nice model.

      @Learnwithtravis  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Scott! I turn the resistance all the way to 0 and then count how many half turns until max resistance. This helps me to understand what a half turn equates to. You can then estimate your resistance and make adjustments close to what they are requesting. After a while you gain a feel for what different resistance levels feel like.

    Even though the Sunny is cheaper. One of the most important thing about a bike is the warranty service. Schwinn, from several reviews I see online seem to have really good reviews on warranty and customer service. I looked at Proform and Myx reviews and they both don't seem to have good customer service when it comes to dealing with warranty. I don't know about Sunny though. When something goes wrong, I have to trust the manufacturer will take care of my problems well.

      Thanks H Sapre. I didn't play with it much, but the Wahoo app you can use with the Wahoo sensors displays distance. So I knew they were a great option already. I grabbed one to review and learned they were right. A very solid option for the price point. • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Kate! That looks like a really nice bike. I think that model may depend on how you plan to use it. If you are going to ride on your own (no Peloton Digital), I think it could be great. If you want to pair with Peloton Digital, their may be better options. Don't get me wrong, that is still a very nice bike and could work great. My concern is the price point for the extras you get over the model I reviewed in this video. The flywheel is the same (if my memory is right), but it has the pulse sensor (not a fan), and the display that does not really add to Peloton digital (no resistance display). It does have clip in pedals which is nice, but overall I don't feel like the features that increase the price pair well with Peloton Digital. Stand-alone, that is another story. Hope that helps!

    Travis, I love the details of your videos. I've been trying to decide on a bike for two months. I thought the IC4 would be a good choice but today i saw it next to a IC3. The IC3 has a same build but has friction resistance and a less dynamic display. The smoothness of the resistance of the IC3 stood out over the IC4. I thought the IC4 at mid to high resistance was not smooth and as you turn it higher it was rather irregular. At the highest setting the IC4 was still functional but the IC3 (with the friction pad) was very restrictive. Is this typical difference between magnetic resistance and friction resistance? Thanks!

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not necessarily. It comes down to how each version is calibrated (and other factors). For example, with magnetic resistance, how close are the magnets getting and how strong are the magnets. Different bikes have very different top end resistance feels. With the IC4, they seem to be inconsistent with how they are calibrated. Many have used a calibration document to correct it and improve that top end resistance. Mine was the same way though and top end resistance was lower a lot of other options. Thanks Dan!

    • @Learnwithtravis

      I have not looked into the IC3 too much, but at a quick glance it looks like the IC4 without some of the connectivity options that let you connection of to Peloton Digital\Zwift. The IC4 has a slightly smaller flywheel than the Sunny model I usually talk about. The IC3 appears to be a little smaller than the IC4. I have not tested it, but I would guess it is still a solid bike.

      So, Stryde is the option that lets you install iFit right into the attached monitor. I don’t think iFit gathers any info from the bike but you can do your iFit rides right on the screen. Hi! I just was wondering- when you talk about noise for the IC4- are you talking about the frame noise when out of the saddle? I got an IC4 in August and have been experimenting with trying to fix the frame creaking noise. A couple of things that helped - I changed out my mat to a thin rubber type mat instead of a thicker foam mat. Also, I put some rubberized electrical tape at the front holes for the bolts before setting the bike onto the frame and put a little 3-1 oil in the hole and rebolted it. So far it seems to be better. Let me know if you have found any other fixes for that. Great video! Thx
