    Travis, Great feedback. I am 67 years old. I had a right knee replacement 1 year ago. I wasn't prepared physically for that surgery. Post surgery physical therapy was tough for me, hindering my recovery. I intend to have the left knee replaced in March 2022. I am NOT making the mistake of being unprepared again. I have purchased the Schwinn IC4. It is perfect for me. I did, however, purchase a different seat. Ouch! I am in the process of building up my leg strength and endurance. I love the readout and the easy resistance and other height and handle bar adjustments. I also like the stable footprint. I have returned bikes that are not designed properly for a big guy like me. I am pushing 300 pounds. This one isdesigned and built very well. ! Very stable, quite ride. I know that I am not the target audiance for your video, however I am confident of my purchase after viewing channels like yours. Thank you sir! God bless and best regards, Dan

So happy to hear this bike is a great match for you and that you are putting in the work to not only better better prepared for your next surgery but also working on your long term health! I hope that everything goes well and you have a speed recovery! Have a great holiday!

    We got the Schwinn IC4 for use with the peloton app after watching your reviews and doing a lot of research, and are super happy with it. It just made a lot of sense for us financially. We knew we would not use the leader board. Love the app with our treadmill as well,. Thanks for your info!

    I just bought mine yesterday and put it together today by watching an assembly video on TH-cam. Very easy. Hardest part was unpacking. Was going to buy a Bowflex and ordered one and it is a 10 week delivery. Did a Google search in my area and found the Schwinn at a local Dicks about 40 miles away. This is the same as the Bowflex jut different badging and made by the same company for $100 less. So far so good.

    Travis, I went with the IC4 because of your review and it finally got here. It only took 10 weeks. I got it assembled and I’ve put about 5 rides on it so far. I totally agree with your assessment of the build quality. I love that it works with the Peloton app! I do have a problem though. I’m 6’5” tall and I have this thing MAXED OUT! At those settings I’m comfortable but at first I found myself really wanting to go up one more click on the seat height. It was all in my head. I compared the seat height with my Trek and found that the bend in my knee was almost the same. So after all these rides I’m super happy. So anyone that’s over 6’5” tall you may want to go ride the thing in a showroom first and make sure it fits. Also, I can’t ride with a bottle in the drink holder because my knee will hit and I can’t raise the handlebars anymore. Those are my thoughts. Thanks for the video!!!

    I'm currently shopping for a bike, I like this Schwinn IC4, it has everything I want at under $850. There is a SUNNY SF-B1986, check it out, it has all the same features for the same price.
    I'm not too concerned about the high resistance, I'm 160lbs. You're right, the bike looks great and solid, should last. Thumb up!

    Interesting thing for anyone looking to buy the Bowflex C6, this is the exact same bike. Schwinn is partnered with Bowflex and they just rebranded the IC4, slapped the Bowflex brand on it and called it C6, then added a $100 premium making it 899 instead of 799 bc you're paying for the name Bowflex. But they are completely identical. So if you want the Bowflex C6, you can actually save 100 bucks and buy the exact same bike without the $100 dollar premium and getting the Schwinn IC4. All that aside, this is a Great bike for sure though! I think the sunny fitness has a 44lb flywheel and this bike has a 40lb but I think the build is better with the IC4 and C6.

      Correct, Bowflex and Schwinn are both manufactured by Nautalus. I have an IC3, if I had the extra couple hundred in my budget for a bike at the time I bought mine, I deffinitely would have gotten the IC4. Maybe I will upgrade one of these days.

    I found the review really helpful and purchased the IC4. It is a high quality bike, very easy to assemble. Female vs Male body geometry did not come up. Women tend to have more height in their legs; men in their torsos. I have long legs. There is no way to adjust the bike where I’m not at risk of hitting the water bottles. I can manage around it, but I have to be mindful when I move to standing rides. I expect this isn’t an issue for men, the seat and handlebar adjustments would have the handles farther back and out of the way. Not an option to move the handlebars up or away and ride comfortably when seated. My shirt torso would be too stretched out. Still happy, but makes the water bottle feature a drawback iso a plus.

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      So glad you are enjoying the bike Janice! Have you tried moving the seat back a little and making sure are far enough back in your posture when doing standing movements? At 6'3" I have very long legs and don't remember having any issues. I believe you, but hoping their is something to help you and not make that part an inconvenience. Glad you are figuring it out though and it is mostly a positive!

      @janicewhite5519 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      LearnWithTravis yes, I have done both. I just have to be careful when I move to standing. Moved the handle bars as far forward as I’m able as well. Moving them up a bit higher than I like, helps

    What I would like is an in-depth review on how well this bike pairs with Zwift. One huge negative up front is that the bike does not automatically adjust the resistance when the "course" heads up hill. I'm not sure how hard that would be to program into the bike's software/firmware, but if it had that this bike would easily be my solution.

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is a good idea guy. Honestly, I have moved on from the IC4 to make room for other products for review. So, I might not be able to do this, but I will try to learn more about Zwift and see if there is a way to get answers out there. Good luck!

    Great review, this was one of the spin bikes I was checking out too, but then I took the plunge and went for the Peloton, so far I'm very happy, although I'm sure I would have been just as happy with the Schwinn IC4 or Bowflex C6, and of course very easy to pair with a TV too for the big screen experience. Question for you Travis: Can you recommend a bike that has a monitor (as opposed to VR goggles) that incorporates video games and scenic tours? Like the expresso recumbent bike but without the $4000+ price tag. I've looked at the VZfit hardware and limited game apps, but is there a total package bike that has a monitor and several riding games included...with a controller built in....like a PlayStation or Xbox interface that can be connected, perhaps? I know it's asking a lot, but if anyone would know, it's you. I don't need an instructor-led experience...just something fun to do while I ride. Many thanks.

      Cally! I so wish I had a good answer for you. I honestly am not aware of any that do this without a really high price tag. With the popularity of these bikes, I think that has to be coming and will be more common. Personally, I think I would enjoy a game based ride over instructor led. As soon as I learn of any bikes that do this, you know I will get them and test... but I don't know of any right now. Sorry!

  • @FreshItalianPrince

    Leftfield question, but as a 185lb., 6'1" male, I'm a touch worried on resistance for when I use Peloton app. We LOVE Peloton but need two bikes and frankly two bikes just isn't $$$ feasible, especially with $39/mo for the app, if we both participate in leaderboard at same time!
    From a dollars stand point, using the metric of needing two bikes and the app, as we both wanna participate in classes at same time. Think it's worth the $1600? for two bikes? Would love to get Peloton but just think AirPlay to our TV and using two DIY bikes and the App, this may be best practice but your portion on the resistance had me realing?

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is a tough one. First, just to make sure you understand the difference between Peloton and Peloton Digital, you do not compete on the leaderboard with Peloton Digital. You can take the same rides and participate together, but no leaderboard experience. As far as justifying purchasing two bikes... I have a bit of a hard time with this knowing how much money you could save and just ride at different times with one bike, but... I know a lot of people do this, and if working out together helps you to motivate each other, get more workouts in, push harder, and all that, why not? I am not one to put a price on someones health, and in the long term, this is a small investment considering you are talking about your health and its impact the rest of your life. As far as resistance, I will say most would probably be happy with the IC4. You still get a great workout and I hear they can be calibrated if the ride is not challenging enough (mine probably needed that). As far as how I received mine, the Peloton has a better high end resistance, but my guess is calibrating the IC4 would have narrowed that. Long reply... hope that helps!

    • @FreshItalianPrince
      @FreshItalianPrince 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Learnwithtravis Thank you so much! Yes it's a back and forth on if we wanna get two bikes, but we were not considering TWO Peloton bikes. It's either 1 Peloton bike for ~$2350 and we both workout at different times and get all the benefits of the Peloton leaderboard etc. or TWO Schwinn IC4's @ $799 each =~$1650.
      The total cost on the two bikes isn't really what is bothering us, but the cost of the $39/month for the peloton membership versus the $13/month for peloton digital. is what has us scratching our heads. Seeing as we'll still utilize a gym and classes there and lifting, we're feeling like $39/month is a lil steep for a bike that we would use each, two times a week? Like we're basically paying say $12/ride then? Versus the IC4... We now would have two bikes and a almost $1000 savings and then $13/month for one digital membership and AirPlay to a TV and then both be able to workout together?
      Mostly, just the value of the monthly membership and if we're balancing all the other workouts as well. Thanks for your thoughts

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A lot of people struggle with this decision for the exact reason you pointed out. I will say, from what I have seen, people are happy with their decision regardless of what direction they went. People that got the Peloton love it. People that go Peloton Digital also love it. Sometimes they use it as a stepping stone to get a Peloton, but they still loved the Peloton Digital solution. Good luck with the decision!

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just looked and tried to find them, filtered down, and could not find any. I could be wrong but I don't think you can do scenic with Peloton Digital. iFit is still the kind of instructor led scenic rides. I believe you can pay for an app only version but I am not sure of the cost and I believe it would be content only (No using cadence from the bike). It still could be a motivational option though having a more affordable bike while getting scenic content. Hope that helps!

And!! the monitor has a USB port so you can charge your device. however I believe it is a slow charging port.

If you want to keep the cost down and keep it simple, one of the Sunny Health and Fitness bikes that looks like a fit for you (many models out there). If you want a bike that has built in sensors and a resistance display for following Pelotoin rides at a slight cost jump, the IC4. If you want a bike that is starting to feel like closer to high end bike tier, has the attached tablet, but can still fully support Peloton Digital, the Stryde. Hope that helps!

    Excellent videos Travis. Can you please comment on Schwinn IC4 vs (used) Schwinn AC Performance carbon blue with MPower Echelon2 console w/ power upgrade kit. New vs three-year-old (commercial grade) bike? I am looking for a bike to use with the Peleton app.

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much Victor. I have not tested the blue yet, but it should be a really nice bike. I also have not used the Echelon2 but the reviews on Amazon were terrible which scares me away from using that product. It probably depends on how you want to use it. If you just want a nice bike and plan to do your own thing, you could get the blue and play with the Echelon2 but know it may not be all that great. If you plan to do Peloton app rides, I lean towards the IC4 because you know that will work. (Of course the other option may work, I just can't speak to it) I don't want to push you away from the better bike, but hard to recommend a bike that relies on a product that has so many 1 star reviews.

    Hi Travis-another question coming your way. Purchased this bike and allot had to do with your review, thanks -however when I read through the Schwinn Facebook pages, time after time I see you have to replace the pedals. They also mention the Peloton pedals are as bad. Have you heard anything regarding this issue and any recommendation on a good replacement pedal that has SPD on one side and cages on the other. Always appreciate your feedback.

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Thomas. Honestly, I have not. I follow the Peloton forums more so than the Schwinn, but generally Peloton users only change the pedals if they have a preference for SPD over look delta. There may be better options out there and I know a lot of people like Shimano, but I would probably test out the pedals that come with the IC4. More than likely they will be just fine and if you feel they are not or become less functional over time, I would replace them then. if you do decide to replace, here is an option I found. I have not tested it myself.

      Yup, cell phones work. I have recently been hearing that Peloton has removed support for cadence sensors across the board, so that might not work but it has nothing to do with you using a phone. You should be able to download the app and still follow along with the instructors. Check out the URL too, because Roku\FireTV and many other smart TV features are supported as well.

    Excellent review thanks. I wish more reviews were like this one. I imagine if you don't like the seat or the pedals you switch them out to your favorite saddle or SPDs. I would like to find a shop that sells these and have one set up. Unlikely I will find a true brick and mortar store with this bike.

      Thank you so much Cube Hire! I really appreciate that! You are right on. You can switch the pedals out if need be, but I have not heard of anyone needing to. I think they are pretty solid pedals. The seat I did not test, so I can't say for sure, but I think it can be swapped out. Generally pretty easy changes to make. My guess is you could start with the IC4, and you would be happy, but if over time you wanted to swap parts, you could rather easily. Good luck!!!

    • @Learnwithtravis

      No problem! In the Peloton app, you clicked a connected device icon to connect and show cadence and heart rate. The IC4 has the cadence built in so you do not need anything else. The resistance is displayed on the IC4 display, but not in the Peloton App.

    I am pretty sold on this bike over the sunny! My main concern about the peloton app though is I am a total beginner as well as my fiancé...we are worried that we won’t be able to keep up with the classes and speeds that the professional instructors are asking us to do. Do they have entry level classes tailored to peoples body weight and experience etc.?

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      First, don't let that bother you at all. People say that who have the actual Peloton all the time. Most can't keep up at the beginning. But as long as you are doing your best, pushing yourself, and keeping at it... you will be amazed at home much quicker you get stronger. It is not about keeping up with them, but letting them help you to push harder than you would on your own and build up to their levels over time. Second, they do have beginner rides as well as many different ride types. You will be able to play around with different rides types and instructors and find options perfectly suited for you. Don't worry about that!

    Super helpful review! I've been looking at the Peloton and NordicTrak, but not excited about spending that much $$. This seems like a great alternative. I like how you showed how easy it is to use the Peloton Digital, but do you know if it will also match up with NordicTrak's iFIT software? What I really like about there programs is the outdoor riding experience. I think that would be an awesome way to take my mind off the ride and see some amazing scenery. I realize that the iFIT has a way to auto adjust the NT bike's resistance and height, and that obviously those features wouldn't work on this bike, but if it could at least track my speed and progress through the course, that'd be awesome. Thanks for your input!

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey John! Appreciate that! I don't know much about the Nordictrack just yet, so I can't answer some of your questions. I am strongly considering getting the S22i to review, but it will take a little while before I have content up. Not sure on your timeline, but letting you know. 😀 I will say, the Peloton has a great scenic rides. I checked Peloton Digital and some of them are available under featured rides. It seems to be a limited selection but had roughly 10 available if that helps you out.
      I don't think you can use iFit on other spin bikes. Pretty sure Nordictrack keeps that one in house. If you look at the IC4 website, they list the apps that are available.

Have you heard of the tension being way off or is there something I missed during set up that would have released the tension.
