Flashback to 2004 for me: 7 year old me in Walmart staring at that Luke Skywalker. My mom let me go home with that Luke as well as the fullscreen gold box version of the original trilogy on DVD. Just your intro made me get chills of nostalgia running down my entire body.
Great video Tim... I must say - my favourites out of the “Saga Vintage Collection” has got to be Snowtrooper, IG-88, Scout Trooper and the Tuskin Raider.
So glad I’ve found this ! I’m starting to do a small collection of figures and slave 1 so many different types / vintage / black etc which is confusing ! So your channel is a godsend :)
What a great list you have put together. The C3PO in a vac metal would of been nice. An updated Lando ESB this year is confusing as to why we have not got it. also I want an updated Princess Leia and great to see Han Solo is in first! Great Video my friend!
I totally agree with you about the C 3PO figures, why is is so hard to make a decent Droid, like you said the old 1978 one is so good considering his age, cheers!
Fantastic ranking, wholly agree! I do love that Yoda and might’ve ranked it slightly higher but it’s hard to argue with your list order, for sure. Spot on with the needed updates! Really hope that happens with many of these classics.
Amazed that you placed Chewie so low. I still think he holds up quite well, especially compared to some of the others in this line. The Han Solo is still one of my favoruite figures though, deserved Number 1
All to do with the card back - when there is an alternate out there from the vintage line it should have been used. I understand why they used the one they did but it should have been a SW card.
Good stuff. I’m starting to see more and more of these OTC figures showing up at my local toy shop, so next time in I’m gonna look them over more carefully and consider picking up a few of the better ones. I particularly like the corrected card back versions near the top of your list. Good change of pace video!
Can’t wait for the return of the Jedi 40th anniversary, it my favourite movie of all movies and I can’t wait to get some really ‘photo real’ figures for the 6 inch black series. Great video, keep up the awesome work.
I still don't understand how there are still people out there who haven't seen the Star Wars films. And they take pride in it, they don't know what they're missing. I saw the original back in 1977 when I was 5 and have been a devoted fan ever since.
I bought Yoda and Obi Wan when they were new but only recently managed to acquire the rest. My ordering would be slightly different but overall I agree with your assessments of the figures and their packaging. I'd bet all 3.75" SW collectors would agree that an updated Bespin Lando is WAY overdue. Can we expect a similar ranking for the Vintage Saga Collection soon?
Nifty video! Thank you! I wasn't too bothered about the cards, but the inconsistent articulation irritated me. Most of them had amazing articulation, but then you had figures that were, as you say, barely better than the VINTAGE Vintage figures. The C-3PO that came with the Ewok throne (and was later used as the basis for the Salacious Crumb 2-Pack) is still the best 3PO, for my money. The VOTC Stormtrooper is still one of my favourites for sculpting, if not poseability. And those swivel-cut elbows . . . YEESH!
Great video! I would say the best of these VOTC waves is Han Solo. I think the worst was probably C-3PO. Here's how I would have ranked them all: Han Solo Darth Vader Chewbacca Boba Fett Lando Calrissian Stormtrooper Princess Leia Yoda Luke Skywalker R2-D2 Obi-Wan Kenobi C-3PO
I absolutely love this line of figures. Sadly we only have two of the figures, Yoda & Stormtrooper in our collection. I've been slowly picking these up when I find them for a good price. Was this C-3PO the last "golden" (vac plated) C-3PO we got on a vintage card? I could be wrong but I am thinking our Yoda looks a little different, I am going to go unpack this figure take a closer look at it. Great video Tim!
Great video Tim; its hard to choose between the Luke and Han as they’re both classic scenes from the movie but i think you got it just right. No Luke x-wing pilot? It’s another great looking card back with a removable helmet and facially looks an improvement over the farmboy version.
I collected all these trilogy & saga figures! It's not sun damage on your Princess Leia card Bossk! Mine is exactly the same as yours! Great video mate!
Great video!!!!, im still looking for the Best star wars 3.75 scale boba fett, because the new one has the weird helmet that can be removed and he just doesnt look right because of that weird shape that it Hera Shenyang you out the helmet in the figure.
Great video as always Tim, why do you think Hasbro have the images of the characters and the film it comes from mixed up? Is this just laziness on their part?
I guess they wanted to mix it up a bit with the 3 films and wanted the main characters. Kenner did release all of them on those cards back in the 80s but that didnt mean Hasbro had to follow suit
Great video. I would definitely like to see a re-release of Han with a new head sculpt and photo real. I need to find a really good 3-PO because the TVC is ok but my only other is the POTF version.
I have that 40 year old 3PO on my mantelpiece and yeah I really want them to make a great 3PO and R2. Just got the Droids 3PO, more of a collectors piece than anything, it has grown on me a bit
Good video & very interesting and yes I agree anybody and I was around then and I had him in my collection ( luke Skywalker farmboy) and as for the ranking I agree with the 2nd place & first place the remaining could be changed and it wouldn't matter!! Just as long as the top two are exactly that top two also I had the original han solo , in fact with the exception of that r2 I had all.of your top 12
I agree that the picture should match the movie that it relates to especially now. They did release all of those variations of cardback with movie correlation in the original run through the 80's. I was happy to get a Chewie moc with "a new hope" picture on ROTJ release at a more reasonable cost than a star wars card. My anecdote might explain but not excuse the decision makers?
I agree with your sentiment that it’s kinda ridiculous they haven’t made an episode 4 Han Leia and Luke with today’s technology. While it’s my go to figure regardless, I’m crossing my fingers that stop reissuing the removable helmet Boba Fett from Empire and re release the Boba you have on your list and like you said, PUT HIM ON THE ALTERNATE CARD!!! It’s probably the first image of Boba Fett that anyone thinks of
I was lucky enough to find a legacy falcon for 200 without landing gear. But I found a set for 35 so that’s cool but I’m doing a new hope figures in it and I just need Leia with bendable knees and elbows to fit in the back seat . The Leia I have only has shoulder and hip joints
They really need to update farmboy Luke with a whole new sculpt. They haven't been able to get it right in multiple tries and it could use an update with the new face printing technology.
I haven't watched the whole video as i write this comment, but i know which figure is going to be best: Han Solo Star Wars! Would love to see the same sculpt rereleased in the VC with just updated face-print tech! Also, I wish they hadn't changed the font for ROTJ on this line!
You know MY thoughts on the movie badge choices! VC06 & VC04 are top exhibits... and Chewie. Sure... they're nods to the rereleases of the original new hope images during the releases of the movies TESB & ROTJ. As for Artoo... that's another Inn fact probably the worst case of image discrepancy! DEFO needs Empire on it 👌💙 Enjoyable vid BB!
Yeah the R2 should have been lower in my list as that is probably the worst offence but I always loved the actual image. It’s funny because trying to find an vintage ESB one is actually really difficult, he and removable limbs 3PO were toward the end of the line so are more common on ROTJ cards.
love your videos, bossk! thanks so much, and keep up the great work! but i have a small disagreement with your ranking here. obi-wan more than deserves the title of "worst." terrible figure. he's got awkwardly-sculpted swivel arms that only allow him to do the self-sacrifice pose, and no knee articulation. i agree the cardback is great, but 6 is way too high for that figure.
Totally agree that Han Solo is the best of the bunch - and still can’t believe we haven’t had a Luke Farmboy, Old Ben or Leia Organa in the VC. What’s going on?!?! And is it just me or is Obi Wan’s head really small in the VOTC release?
Great video, but I'm amazed that Luke is so high. The figure is pretty lousy, awful soft goods and a really wonky face sculpt. Never bothered to pick this up because of those issues. Han, on the other hand, still holds up as a great overall figure. not the best head, but the rest of the sculpt and articulation is perfect.
Huh. Not disagreeing with your ordering at all, bu you called this "Worst to First". I think I was expecting more about how bad a figure started out at in the late 70's vs how they look now. Very little talk about how HUGE an upgrade the Chewbacca, Luke, & Han figures are from their miserable beginnings. Han was my most favorite of all back in the day, and EVEN THEN, I thought his figure looked pretty crappy (and I had the "small head" Han. The "big head" Han was an abomination, even when I was seven.) I would have enjoyed more talk about how far these figures have come from '79.
Reckless Deck thanks for watching bud. That would be for another video. Although I am not sure I could Shane the vintage figures like that. I hold them very dear to my heart. This video was literally the VOTC figures in order of worst to best. Cheers man.
@@BossksBounty I like the cases they come in. I always thought that was their original packaging. That's why I never looked at collecting them. Now I know their normal carded figures. I might collect some. Cheers for the video.
And if you notice some have the 'safety text' like Luke, Leia and Ben under the front Kenner logo. This is reminiscent of the original '78 releases. Nowadays 16 yrs later some have yellowed or 'tanned' bubbles and figures. Lando tends to get a discolored shirt over time. I actually believe these Are part of the VC line including the later waves and mail-in George Lucas Stormtrooper. If you add these then we are at VC200 + in no time at all !! ! UGH I remember opening my Luke Skywalker figure back in 1978 ! I discarded the packaging in the trash like an idiot :( Well I enjoyed the figure and still have it today
I like that Hasbro in 2004 stuck faithfully to the original elements of the 1978 releases. The history lessons were a really nice touch and should have continued ! These are More than mere Toys !
Flashback to 2004 for me: 7 year old me in Walmart staring at that Luke Skywalker. My mom let me go home with that Luke as well as the fullscreen gold box version of the original trilogy on DVD. Just your intro made me get chills of nostalgia running down my entire body.

Looking back on this video from 2024, your ranking and assessing are spot on!
Great video Tim... I must say - my favourites out of the “Saga Vintage Collection” has got to be Snowtrooper, IG-88, Scout Trooper and the Tuskin Raider.
Yep those are in the VSC - check out that video - its in my Worst to First playlist. Some great cards in there as you say!

Let’s go a video I can watch during lunch break !!!!!!
👍🏻 not only a great review/ranking but a nice little history lesson of the vintage collection
Thank you kindly!
I totally agree with you about the C 3PO figures, why is is so hard to make a decent Droid, like you said the old 1978 one is so good considering his age, cheers!
Mr.Bossk can you do a video of your five least favorite and 5 favorite figures out of the vintage collection? Keep up the great work.
I have been planning to do that, will have to be a Top 10 though as it’s too difficult to whittle it down to just 5.
Fantastic ranking, wholly agree! I do love that Yoda and might’ve ranked it slightly higher but it’s hard to argue with your list order, for sure. Spot on with the needed updates! Really hope that happens with many of these classics.
Glad you enjoyed!
We definitely need Hasbro to give us a Ben Kenobi in TVC line...💯✔ They need to stop neglecting Old Ben...👌🏼
Thanks Bossk, great video. I needed to add a Han Solo to my Mos Eisley Cantina display and you really helped me with the choice!

That Han Solo cardback is so iconic just brilliant!! When will get a Vac metal C3PO in TVC ? Come on Hasbro!!😎👍
I love this line. These figures got me interested in collecting modern star wars again so I know I am biased, but I love all of these.
Can’t wait for the return of the Jedi 40th anniversary, it my favourite movie of all movies and I can’t wait to get some really ‘photo real’ figures for the 6 inch black series. Great video, keep up the awesome work.
After seeing this list I wonder if anyone at Hasbro actually watches Star Wars. So many oversights especially on those cardback images and logos

Awsom video mate, great review of the votc range.
Love Bossk alway chillin
Great ranking video 👍 How much are these VOTC figures going for in 2022 ?
Not a huge amount. Character defendant
@@BossksBounty Thanks 😊
I have 12 of them & I’m not going to sell. Just curious, can’t believe I’ve had them nearly 20 years 😮

Cheers Gerard
Great video! I would say the best of these VOTC waves is Han Solo. I think the worst was probably C-3PO.
Here's how I would have ranked them all:
Han Solo
Darth Vader
Chewbacca
Boba Fett
Lando Calrissian
Stormtrooper
Princess Leia
Yoda
Luke Skywalker
R2-D2
Obi-Wan Kenobi
C-3PO

Bossk's Bounty of course; I’ll have to catch that episode too.

thanks for letting me know about Leia!
That image for Han looks great.
That Han Solo is really nice... great list Tim.

haha, you know the auto corrector 😂😂🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
if you get the 5POA Fett from the Han and Fett 2 pack then which the head with VC09 then voila
Really good selection mate not a easy job!

Yeah I need to get that one!
Great video 👍.
The Star Wars Leia looks great. Hope they can give her, farm boy Luke, Obi-Wan, and Han the face print
These figures were put out in different waves, each attached to one of the OT movies. That's why you have the photo/movie logo discrepancies.
Yeah and they wanted to include all 3 films - but bi excuse for having that R2 on a ROTJ card.

Protection shield back Hasbro because they can’t decent ship anymore!

The new 40th six inch is just a standard Boba Fett
Bossk's Bounty thanks
We need a biker scout on return of the jedi card, i need it to go with my original speeder bike
There is one in the 2006 Vintage Saga Collection. Figure needs updating though
