Also on the subject of Jango; they’ve tooled like half of his parts already with the death watch airborne and ROTJ boba. New shoulder pads, thighs, and forearms would be needed, maybe a belt, and maybe the jetpack if they’re doing the Geonosis version, but otherwise they just need to do good paint
I love the sandtrooper card art. I honestly would love to see them re make this figure, just with a new dewback if they ever want to make creatures again.
Hey Bossk question for next week: While another viewer touched on it, my question is a follow up to, “do you think Lucasfilm is the reason we haven’t gotten more OT/96?” More specifically, I’m fond of keeping track of every bit of new tooling in the tvc. That makes sense when it fits, (ie Lobot), but that’s about 1 all newly tooled OT figure a year. That is severely limiting especially as we move deeper into the 96, as some characters will need all new tooling. Do you think hasbro has an agreement SPECIFICALLY to not invest in OT tooling or severely limit the OT tooling to maybe 1 a year , and instead is required to invest in new media tooling? Keep in mind, Lucasfilm owns the tooling after it’s use. Would love to hear your thoughts on the subject. And thanks.
Nothing makes me happier than when carded figures plummet in value due to being re-released. The inflated prices for some carded figures is nothing short of disgusting and those aftermarket prices need to be destroyed.
I totally agree. These are toys, not stock options. Let people play with them and enjoy them. There's nothing worse than a bunch of 'true fans' who hoard wanted figures or profiteer off others who just want to enjoy the Star Wars toy universe. I hope everything gets rereleased so a new generation of kids can afford them and enjoy them.
@@ChapMeifan Exactly. Hasbro has re-released a few of those uber-expensive figures lately like Ahsoka. They need to just go to eBay, search for the most expensive figures and work their way down with re-releases. Burn that crap down! :)
Interesting angle... so you're looking at the FIGURES within... where as I was thinking of the cardbacks! There's a few of those (I reckon) that could see a reissue (with an updated figure perhaps) Don't agree with Cody though... he's prime to be reissued. Almost a definitive figure... BUT I reckon he could be reissued on a Genndy card! 🥰 100% agree on Slave Leia though! Absolutely no chance she'll come back. Revenge and foil cards too! 💯👌🏼 P.s that last Sandtrooper is a good example... IT (the card) could see a reissue... with updated figure. They'd defo use that card of the two of them just coz it's butter! OR they would make a third card for a Sandy!
Yeah it’s about Figure/cardback combo. Something that if updated would necessarily affect the value of the original. But as we’ve seen with the 501st, when they significantly update the figure they change the card back. Agreed Cody is a maybe, but I think with the new clone mold he will look even more dated.
What's to stop them bringing out Jango Fett AGAIN though on the same card? Obviously that'll be an updated figure on the same card.... as most of the reissues had some sort of change, even as minute as the facial sculpt (Queen Amidala) Still... in the eventuality of a reissue, especially on the same card, the price of the original will plummet as there will be significantly less demand. Look as Shae. 📉
Great video as usual Bossk! I think a new "definitive" Tarkin is a certainty somewhere in the future, same with Jango. But the existing Tarkin is a phenomenal figure regardless
I was really surprised about a year ago when Hasbro reissued TVC Clone Wars Captain Rex without any upgrades. Such a popular & recognizable clone character should at least have a removable helmet, if not also an entirely new sculpt. (Granted, I think Hasbro did shortly thereafter do one for the poncho-wearing Bad Batch iteration of the character.)
Great video Tim! I am worried about Jango Fett. You may recall when Augustin was interviewing Chris and Patrick and asked about an all-new Jango, Chris looked a bit surprised and asked would you rather have a newly tooled Jango or the 4 missing main characters from ANH? This tells me a new Jango is not on their radar.
Great video BB!! The Moff Tarkin skirt really annoyed me. LOL Just make the whole thing in soft goods or make it all plastic. Would much prefer soft goods though!!! The Jango, Cody, Slave Leia & Tarkin are ones I would like to see get done. As for the rest I'm fine with those not being done!!
Slave leia with the revenge of the Jedi is the card back I want the most. It’s on my list of five older figures Slave leia AT-RT driver Odd Ball Megan guard Commander Cody.
Yeah I feel the same about Moff Tarkin over the years he's been retooled and sculpted to death, this is why I stick with the POTF 2 there is one sculpt of a Tarkin figure I call Chernobyl disaster Tarkin (y'know the one where the face is somewhat melted) yeah that one. Also I wouldn't blame Hasbro if they didn't want to make clone/stormtroopers again. Thanks for your input BB.
Great video. But TBH, Disney has done a Star Wars “dance off” with Leia wearing her “Jabba Captive” (PotF2 term) outfit. So I personally feel that they would be more incline doing an updated figure (possibly in a deluxe package) instead of doing a reissue.
I seem to remember when Black Series collectors were calling for Oola as part of the Haslab Rancor that someone from Hasbro pretty much said that would never happen. (not from the Star Wars team)
They'd honestly be stupid to not release a new Jango since they already have like 80% of the sculpt from new Clone Wars Mandos. All he needs are a new belt, thighs, and an unhelmeted head. As for reusing existing parts, blasters from older Jangos are fine, and the helmet from either ROTJ Boba or Axe Woves both work depending on what route they want to take as far as making is removable or swapable. The jetpack from ROTJ Boba or TCW Mandos could be used for either the Kamino or Geonosis looks.
Plausible guesstimation BB! Thank you for the video. I don't have any TVC 1.0 on card, I could only afford so many back then and opened all of them. I had no idea dagobah landing Luke, slave Leia, and several others would be worth as much as they are today. I try to get at least two of each figures now.
Interesting. I was hoping TVC 4-LOM would have featured. Hasbro need to redo that character, perhaps using the Disney droid factory sculpt. Thanks for the cool video, BB.
I really wish Hasbro would do an actual wide release reissue of the Old Republic Trooper. They reissued it through Hasbro Pulse twice exclusively and I missed out on it both times because, well, I had to work and by the time I was able to get to the reissue it was already sold out. Twice. Okay, rant over. Thank you for another great video and I really enjoyed the topic. It was actually pretty insightful...
Sadly I think you're right about figures like prisoner Leia and Oola. It's not just about the naming which they could easily alter, it's about scantily clad women being imprisoned/mistreated on film. It doesn't matter if their captors get their comeuppance or not. Disney's just not going to let anybody market toys like that ever again.
Disney has become nothing but a two faced cowardly POS!! They can act like it’s genuine and care and won’t sell star war blasters but they don’t have a problem to gouge park prices to an absolute ridiculous amount and charge at least double of what it’s actually worth to hard working families is garbage!! Disney was the absolute worse company to buy Star Wars . They will slowly ruin the future of Star Wars . Btw just my opinion but Star Wars doesn’t belong in Disneyland anyways.
I agree with your reasoning behind why Leia won’t be produced in that format BB. There are plenty enough of other figures we need instead so I bet we’ll be okay.
Hopefully the VC65 TIE Fighter Pilot can be added to this list someday, because that figure is in desperate need of a complete redo. The figure’s legs/hips date back to 2003 making the lower half of the figure almost 20 years old!
Great video. I think they could get away with that Desert Storm Leia especially is they released Han, Chewie, Luke and Lando in their desert gear. Maybe make it an online exclusive for the 40th of ROTJ, wink wink Hasbro.
Can’t see them doing some of the random figures either like all the pod racer aliens wouldn’t say much demand for those they seem to be mainly re doing all the main characters
I think the more interesting question is which character & cardbacks are least likely or most likely to be reissued whether a straight repack or updated figure. A new Tarkin is pretty likely IMO which would put a hit on value of original. A Slave Leia is unlikely as you explained and puts more emphasis to acquire the current ones.
Tarkin is likely just not that particular one. I think the value only gets hit when its a pretty much straight reissue like with Ahsoka etc. If you look at VC60 the value is the same if not more, because they changed the card back and number
@@BossksBounty As long as the cardback stays the same the value is gonna take a hit. Doesn’t matter if it’s a repack or a new sculpt. The 501st may have survived, I haven’t looked lately. But it’s an exception to this point, getting a unique 2nd cardback.
I think I kind of misunderstood what you were implying before I watched the video. I'm ok if they re-make these figures with updated technology and make them more screen accurate and then release them. I don't need them to be re-releases of a lesser action figure. And most of those figures, I would love to have (General Veers, Leia, Lando, both Sandtroopers, Tarkin and the new Star Wars Stormtrooper).
Very cool I have every one of these (except for the very last "dirty" sandtrooper, eluded me completely I didn't know he even existed until years later) bought them back in the day at retail, to include sandtrooper, clone trooper, and Cmdr Cody in FOIL display package and unpunched.
I wish people would understand the VC102 Ahsoka (1st version) should retain its value. The back of the card on the re-issue (2022) is completely different than the original release. That distinction exists and should help the original VC102 keep its high value.
Great list and I agree with your rationale. The two that personally hurt are the Slave Leia and Shocktrooper. Both have amazing cards and I only have them loose. I don't think they would ever rerelease the Podracer pilots either, simply because they are awful.
Even when a new mold and different picture on the packaging is used, of course the value of the outdated figure goes down, just because there is a better alternative.
I dont agree. These things are numbered for a reason. Look at VC60 on ebay - 501st Clone may have even gone up, because people know it will never come out again.
Nice video. It's a shame that I was unable to get the following figures: Clone Commander Cody, Darth Vader Emperor's Wrath, Clone Trooper 212th Battalion, Wooof Skiff guard, Prune Face, Nikto Skiff guard, Starkiller, Shae Vizla(original), Darth Malgus, Magna Guard, Grand Moff Tarkin, Clone Trooper 501st(original) and Shock Trooper. I'm glad I have some of the ones that you shown and all the rest that wasn't on your video. I only wish Kenner wasn't bought by Hasbro. Kenner is the ones responsible for making these figures and staying with the SW franchise. However, I feel that George Lucas should be guilty for selling his rights to Disney, we wouldn't be able to have the Slave Leia outfit figure. I think Hasbro is only interested in the after/black market, investments and profits. I only buy them for enjoyment and pleasure The other problem is Hasbro should not make limited run figures. They should keep them at least between a year or 18 months, then pull some of them off for new ones. It's a tough gamble on what are the odds of getting the ones you want/need and when they will be around later in the run.
Tried to keep it to TVC1.0 because it seems a bit early to talk about reissuing figures from 2018 onwards. I would class that more as a stock refresh like they did with the original Mando from the same wave.
So what you're saying is, 99% of these SCULPTS are retired, but still plenty of room for all of these characters to be UPDATED & RE-RELEASED in a new form. The only of these that I truly think are 100% retired are Slave Leia, Sandstorm Leia, and Sandstorm Lando.
Hey BB great video. Thanks again. Gotta say I'm really hoping they release a new tarkin. I was so on the fence when he came out so I passed. Also I do hope they also release a slave leia. I really don't think the bikini is a big deal. They had scantily clad slave twiliks in book of boba fett and clone wars. And I believe rebels. I'm really waiting on a new hope Luke and Leia. They need an upgrade the most.
U 4got 2 include a certain rogue archaeologist as part of ur list, Scales - - 😉 Considering her inevitable live-action appearance & change in carback - something tells me said artifact is safe from re-issue ~ 😄❤🥳
That vc 112 sandtrooper i found at a toy store it was 15 bucks cause it was warped but I grabbed it and fixed it.its in good condition. that will never happen agian.
Why wouldn’t they just reissue them with updated/improved figures? We’ve seen reissues of previous figures but the cardbacks changed so technically they shouldn’t devalue the first releases. I’d much rather have my Shae Visla “Character Debut” cardback than the recently reissued one.
Yeah thats the point of the video. I am saying that the current figure and cardback combo wont be reissued, Of course an all new figure will be released. They are doing a new Phase 2 Clone, but I bet its not on that VC15 ROTS card. More than likely an Andor card. Which then protects the value of VC15. Look at VC60 501st Clone, still sells for loads.
@@BossksBounty yeah the new sculpt 501st looks cool but it’s on a Clone Wars cardback, that’s not to say they couldn’t re-release it on a VC-60 ROTS cardback. Personally I would prefer the ROTS cardback as that was the debut of the character and I pretty much just stick to the movies when it comes to the VC.
if the angle is money value and not enjoying the collection out of nostalgia wouldn't the obvious stuff to buy be the limited and expensive stuff like razor crest jabbas barge the ghost and figures nobody will buy or can buy...like stuff you can only buy in person at disney...not sure i would invest in regular figs that are pumped out millions of,but then again i buy for nostalgia and not money value...by the time its valuable you have had it sitting in a box half your life...sort of bad return of investment for time and money invested...i think the only fast return of investment is people who can pick up figures for like 5 bucks at ollies and resell or trade with that
Although not a vintage collection figure, could Ephant Man get an honorary mention? No way I can see Hasbro re-releasing that figure (prove me wrong Hasbro!) And any of those Jedi deleted scene figures tbh won’t get a reissue - now there’s new content coming down the pipeline.
I’ve never liked people that whine about reissues happening because they’ll lose value. To me Star Wars figure collecting hobby has never been about the money. I don’t buy Star Wars figures because they’re an investment, I buy them because I like cool toys and I want to build my own small slice of the Star Wars universe
I agree. But what we have to remember is that many collectors who started later have gone back and paid £80 for an Emperors Royal Guard for example. It must be a bit of a gut wrench for it then to be available for £10. So the video isn’t really about protecting your investment or buying to make money but more about not wasting your money in something that could be reissued
It certainly makes you feel like a fool when that happens sure, but in all honesty I don’t think it’s a good excuse to deny people a product that there’s obviously a high demand for. I’ve had that happen a few times, where I dropped more than I’m comfortable admitting on something that saw a reissue a year or so later, but I would rather suck it up and get over it, and enjoy that my friends are able to acquire such an awesome toy, than be like Gollum and his precious about it.
Hahahaha...most of these cards are expensive and I can see why lots of collectors are praying they don't get re released. I have all of these cards and I hope they re release all of these including ships etc for all those new collectors who missed out. Stars wars represents all that's good about people and the majority of collectors I know somehow think they are the sole beneficiaries of pre released sw collectables and hate it if other collectors get something re released in turn affecting their collection.
People who buy toys only for aftermarket value and for speculation ruin the hobby. Update or reissue all figures for as far as I care, as long as the figure holds up. Don't care what people think about the aftermarket value - boohoo them! People who buy figures at super inflated prices are part of the problem too. With patience, there is always a cheaper option down the line.
AT AT Commander should never have been made! It's an absurd, pointless figure that should just have been made into a General Veers figure all along. Why make a "generic" version of a fan favorite character? It was SUCH a dumb idea. *(I know people are saying it's an homage to the original vintage "AT AT Commander" figure, but that figure was always just supposed to be Veers! It wasn't supposed to be some rando, they just selected a cooler name for the figure and the headsculpts never looked like anyone anyway.)
Jango will definitely get a reissue with the updated mandalorian mold. As for Cody I feel that we will not get him in a reissue but in a clone wars card back and new number.
Might get him in bad batch first tbh. I won’t be surprised if they take the opportunity of his appearance in season 2 to give us a grey version, then repaint him orange down the line

Yes thats it, but the 2 Clone Troopers are 100% retired
Hey BB great video. Thanks again. Gotta say I'm really hoping they release a new tarkin. I was so on the fence when he came out so I passed. Also I do hope they also release a slave leia. I really don't think the bikini is a big deal. They had scantily clad slave twiliks in book of boba fett and clone wars. And I believe rebels. I'm really waiting on a new hope Luke and Leia. They need an upgrade the most.
Great video Bossky! I've just advised all my friends and family to invest every penny they have on all these cardbacks! 👊 ... 👀🤣
LOL
Why dont Hasbro come out with a Clone / Strom Trooper Line ???Delete Scene from EPS 3 ???
I’m hoping I can get four of the clone trooper four packs to fill up my ATTE
U 4got 2 include a certain rogue archaeologist as part of ur list, Scales - - 😉
Considering her inevitable live-action appearance & change in carback - something tells me said artifact is safe from re-issue ~
😄❤🥳
haha I was keeping it to TVC 1.0
Personally I would prefer the ROTS cardback as that was the debut of the character and I pretty much just stick to the movies when it comes to the VC.
if the angle is money value and not enjoying the collection out of nostalgia wouldn't the obvious stuff to buy be the limited and expensive stuff like razor crest jabbas barge the ghost and figures nobody will buy or can buy...like stuff you can only buy in person at disney...not sure i would invest in regular figs that are pumped out millions of,but then again i buy for nostalgia and not money value...by the time its valuable you have had it sitting in a box half your life...sort of bad return of investment for time and money invested...i think the only fast return of investment is people who can pick up figures for like 5 bucks at ollies and resell or trade with that
rerelease or update that is the question
Dying for hasbro to re release exar kun and qel droma or make an updated version.
Hey my friend the coins for little bossk have been mailed it should be there in 2 to 3 weeks
ey man, thank you so much! He will e so happy to receive a gift!
@@BossksBounty your welcome i hope he enjoys his gift
The slave Leia & SDCC exclusive Death Star set is being reissued. It’s all made up in your heads like the plastic bubble.
Great video Tim.
I guess you didn’t see the prototype images of the cardboard bubble then to know how close it came 😉
@@BossksBounty those were fake. 😉 says me lol
Stormtrooper did eventually reappear
Different figure.
I hope with the new Officer sculpt that we get an all new General Veers, similar to the Black Series version.
@@BossksBounty We need an all new veers with a removable hat! My "Walter Donovan" custom needs a better head! :)
Well Grand Moff Tarkin with the skirt could become trans moth Tarkin
Jango will definitely get a reissue with the updated mandalorian mold. As for Cody I feel that we will not get him in a reissue but in a clone wars card back and new number.
Might get him in bad batch first tbh. I won’t be surprised if they take the opportunity of his appearance in season 2 to give us a grey version, then repaint him orange down the line
