They really need to release a modern farmboy Luke. The card is the best of the lot.
I always loved when the good guys disguised themselves as the bad guys. Han and Luke wearing Stormtrooper outfits was my favorite part of the original movie back as a child. I would have loved a stormtrooper Luke as a kid. The vintage collection finally gave me the version I always dreamed of. I gotta give him my number one spot.
It's okay when good guys commit war crimes.
So it really seems like the card back is more important when ranking the figure then the actual figure?? I'm an opener so I guess it'll ALWAYS be the figure that makes the difference for me.....

Crait Luke is one of my favorites. That scene in particular when Luke tricks Kylo was one of my favorite scenes in all the films made. I was blown away by it for we had never seen a living jedi do that. Also side note should of kept the original jabbas palace song in when they did the enhanced versions. It was jazzy, funky and straight up cool song

Great reviews! Love the countdown. The Luke in his original X Wing is probably my most appreciated head sculpt- it just looks so amazing with detail. I’m hoping they can make a few tweaks to the Hoth figure as well.
they need to do a new Bespin Luke from the Vader scene on the bridge, one with tattered clothes and severed hand gimmick.
Great to see Luke Dagobah make it to number 1 in the best Luke Skywalker VTC figures... I voted for that figure in the poll you ran Tim....my 2nd would be Luke Hoth,3rd would be Luke Jedi Knight and Luke Stormtrooper disguise.
Great list some awesome choices for your list. That snowspeeder pilot outfit has always been a favourite of mine as well. Hit Toys is releasing a Luke Skywalker Snowspeeder pilot outfit in next couple months. I'll be definitely picking that up!

I think you got this one spot on! Really did agree with most of your placements! I would have just flipped 1 and 2, just because I have a special place in my heart for Jedi Luke! Return of the Jedi was the first one I seen in the movie theater back when it first came out. So that black outfit with the green saber looks awesome! But great job as usual!

I have the VC x wing Luke and the original trilogy figure Luke Skywalker x wing. I was around 12yrs old when rotj came out.

Love the Crait figure. Never found him but I did find the X-Wing Pilot version. Have Jedi Knight Luke on the way from pre-order. Luke is my favorite Star Wars character of all time! Nice work!
Excellent video as always. I was half expecting Jedi Knight Luke to take the top spot, but my #1 is the same as yours! It's a stunning cardback and great figure, and it got my vote for best cardback in the poll. It very well may have been my choice for best figure if I had it. Not sure what's taking so long with an updated farmboy Luke... We need him. Cheers.

The Yavin Luke card back. Isn’t that frame from A New Hope a far away shot of Luke, Han, Leia and Chewie? If they wanted a photo, pick the one where Luke is walking towards the stage.
Great list mate. Bossk poseing througout is alway's a treat as well as the arm🤣. I personally would have gone 3 Dagobah, 2 Taurn Taurn because I loved that card as a kid & palace Luke at #1. Cheers👍🏻🍻

Dude, if you do this for every character, i will really apréciate it, you would be the first one to do a series like this anda it would be a great help for a lot of people including me,(because I just want to have 1 figure of each character), great video and I hope you keep this kind of videos going

Nice list. I actually have the X-wing Pilot VC158 as my number one. I love the cardback and the figure has a good sculpt and articulation. I wish the Yavin Ceremony Luke was better. He's the one I would use in the absence of a utilitarian Luke for mission dioramas pre-Return of the Jedi if he were better. Definitely need a ground-up redesign for Farm Boy Luke as well.

I really like this video format BB. Thanks for this one! I respect your choices and I suspected what your NO1 would be. Personally my list would be completely different to yours. I don’t put the same emphasis on the cardbacks for one. These are less than 10% of the production cost of the work needed to deliver these super-articulated figures of which I’m much more interested. BTW I appreciate the purely carded collectors - it just seems a shame that all the clever articulation can’t be appreciated by them and instead becomes something that just compromises the appearance of a carded figure. Just my thoughts anyway 👍🏼

Great list! For what it's worth, I agree 100%.The only one that i would have different is the ROTJ Luke, he's definitely my favourite (if we count cardback and figure). But lucky us that it's a tough choice :) They're both great!
Great video Tim! I have 2 figures that I would put higher up on the list. I would put yavin Luke higher up and x-wing Luke, other than that I would have to agree with you.

I always have to adjust my thinking to these videos since you put so much weight on the cardback. And I don't remember what the cardbacks look like since they usually last less than 10 seconds in my house before they're torn open and tossed.

Yes vc44 is a great card, but I could never get on with the Gibbon length arms!!....although I do regret selling my perfect one!

Of course it stands out....ITS BRIGHT ORANGE!!! Just kidding, I agree its in my top 3 as well. I like his Black Jedi robes a little more and stormtrooper is one my surviving figures from the first release so it gets my vote. Thanks again for the video.

Initially, I wondered why TLJ saber toss was so low... but actually ingest what you've done it now... I suppose it does lose a lit of points! You know my thoughts on Luke cards though! 😉 VC44 indeed top of the pops! 👌🏼💙 O.O.K
To be fair, I couldnt really split the top 2 but one has to win. Luke Dagobah has always been front and centre on my wall, head height etc. Such a great image.
Great list. Can't argue too much about placement, although I think I'd have the Jedi Luke at #1. I like the Dagobah Luke, but it's kind of niche, because it's really only in two scenes...I'd probably have it lower on the list because of that.
Great video. Would agree with your assessment except I would flip 1 and 2. The ROTJ is just a classic and the figure is a great version.

Can’t disagree with any of your rankings 👍🏻. Luke Xwing is my favorite vintage Kenner figure since I was a kid. I don’t know why but it is.
I always thought that the suit that luke worn in the beginning of return of the Jedi is the same that him worn in the end of the movie haha
found the 2006 xwing pilot version for $10 today in a vintage toy shop
I've really wanted that dagobah x-wing Luke, but I'm going to wait to pay the price's I've found. My hopes are it will be rereleased!

Interesting list, Tim. The only one i really disagree with is the Death Star escape Luke. I absolutely love the cardback and the figure is actually pretty decent. The legs are probably the biggest problem with it as they seem a bit too short, but the upper Torso and headsculpt are really nice IMO. My top 3 would probably be the recent VC Luke Jedi Knight, Luke Stormtrooper and Luke X-Wing Pilot.

I think the lightsaber construction Luke has the best likeness to mark Hamil, i actually bought a spare just to head swap with the endor luke.
My personal top three vintage-style-cardback Luke figures:
1.) Jedi Knight Luke (ROTJ)
2.) X-Wing Pilot Luke (A New Hope)
3.) Battle of Crait Luke (TLJ)
Unfortunately, my number three (Crait Luke) was poorly distributed here in the USA. I recently broke down and paid $100 for him on the dealer/scalper market because I assume Hasbro is not likely to reissue him anytime soon - - if ever at all - - considering how universally loathed The Last Jedi film remains in the opinion of the majority of Star Wars fans. Of course, Tatooine/Farmboy Luke has the most iconic Star Wars cardback photo of all of them (George Lucas himself has stated that the scene of Luke gazing at the setting binary suns is his favorite in the entire saga). Hopefully, when Hasbro eventually gets around to upgrading that figure, they will go all out and include among his accessories a soft-goods poncho, a hat with goggles, a long rifle and binoculars.
I have the Endor Battle Luke, debating on whenever it’s worth it or not to upgrade him to the new Jedi Knight Luke.
It would’ve been great if Luke Skywalker X-Wing Pilot came with a yellow stepladder just like on the card back that we can use with his actual TVC X-Wing. Do you know if that ladder accessory was ever made in a different line, or if it’s out there in the secondary market?
Dagobah Luke my fave cardback but the Jedi Knight fig was my fave original Luke.
I personally wouldn't rank a lot of the figures off of the cardbacks, because that's not really part of the figures themselves, just the packaging they come in. Other than that, I really enjoyed watching this.

I agree Tim. Death Star Escape Luke is not a great figure. I have that one out of package and his feet are way too close together when he stands. Basically his feet touch each other - looks weird.
His legs are too short as well
V.c. 146 I got but I also bought one long before Crait Luke and he came in the exact same package but has soft goods shirt and rob. It is a custom figure I found out but man I was fooled! He looks absolutely awesome with soft goods, I made a review video of him in crait outfit but soft goods on my channel. If you have time check him out? Would love to hear your opinion

If you can’t understand the collectibility of these card backs then I can’t help you. I guess in your world they should just put them on a plain brown box . Happy New Year.
@@BossksBounty You mean just about everyone’s world who does collect cardboard backs with pictures on them. Trading cards would make sense considering they’re made specifically like that. These are made to be opened. So yes a plain brown box wouldn’t be bad at all. Itd help focus on just the figure which is what you’re paying for
@@thomaskelley6521 in 1983 i bought them or had them bought for me for the figure. Many people who buy TVC do so for the card and keep them as such. I buy two, one to open a d one to keep carded. But to think people do not buy TVC for the card back is just being blind to how people collect.
Seems more like you're rating your favorite "card backs", as opposed to the actual figures, heh. Going by figures alone, Dagobah landing Luke would be very low on the list for me. Those overly long arms, weird mid forearm joints, and garish neon orange plastic for the flight suit. Definitely not a contender for the #1 spot.
Farm Boy Luke need update but it doesn’t need soft goods
For me, the best figure/cardback combo is the Jedi Knight, and the other two from that 3-pack are right behind. When Hasbro updated those 3 figures they really took a great leap forward.
As for worst, it's not even close - Crait Luke. I have the figure and it is atrocious. The headsculpt looks worse than the POTF2 figures, and the paint is awful. The cardback is also uninspiring and holds zero nostalgia.

Ah I have to disagree on your number one spot! The figures arms are sooo long. It really bothers me. We are long overdue a farm boy like update as well.

I really dislike the recently-updated Bespin Luke figure. The "Y"-shaped childbearing hips are freakish on a slender male character, and the new headsculpt with photo-real-tech facial features gives this figure a stronger resemblance to a young Alex Jones than to actor Mark Hamill. The only parts Hasbro got right in this instance were the more-movie-accurate color of the fatigues and the quasi-translucent lightsaber blade.
I will say the lightsaber on the Rotj vintage collection luke sucks I had mine for a total of like an hour and almost all the paint had come off
My favorite three are a tie between stormtrooper Luke, x-wing pilot Luke, and the Return of the Jedi Luke from 2019
