Today is girls day! My amazing friend Michele joins me and we hit downtown Hillsboro for some coffee and antiquing. I've known Michele since I was a little kid ❤️ She worked for my family business as an artist for over 30 years. She is one of the kindest most amazing humans I've ever known and I'm happy to share her with all of you 😊 Coffee and antiquing is one of our favorite things to do together. We used to take our lunch work breaks to go hit Goodwill back in the day and it is so fun to thrift together once again.

Those carved shoes brought back memories. My dad was stationed in the Philippines in 1959 when I was 8 years old. I fell in love with those shoes. I had to have them and after much begging my parents did buy them for me. I hung on to them for years and regretfully sold them in one of my yard sales. But it started me on a journey of adoring handmade items from around the world.

Those candlesticks look magnificent!
WOW what a difference it made with the glass votives removing the red. I remember buying a paint that dried and made clear glass look like frosted glass. I took baby food jars and painted with red & green for Christmas. Looks like that is what that was on those... That is a great way to get your animals to drink water!!

The 2 brass “scoopers” are actually irons. People used to put hot coals in them to iron their clothes. Lovely Video Laura.

My grandmother had one paired with a brass and enameled cigarette box..the iron as an ashtray. The cigarette box held non filter cigarettes. I remember seeing them in the late 40's...they are now mine.

My mother-in-law saw those brass irons used as personal warmers by women sitting and selling in the markets in Japan (she was there in the early 50s just after the war). They put charcoal in them and slid them under their skirts!
Thank you for not breaking up the sets. Whomever buys them will be delighted to have all the pieces.

Getting that cheesy red film off those beautiful candle holders was such a transformation. They looked beautiful.
Candles turned out great! Loved the jewelry and the water fountain too! You might find a bowl to fit the humidor part of the pipe holder and then find skewers for the holes and use it for dipping sauces!

You could roll cloth napkins and place in the holes around the pipe holder
Those candlesticks look spectacular! When you first showed an overview of your first haul, I thought they were kind of cheap and cheesy looking. Scraping the red mess off has elevated them to very elegant. 👍🏻

Great video and finds! I think the butterfly wing ring is actually Mexican Fire Opal and if so, it’s a very distinct stone!
Personally I think it's art glass (I'm an AGTA cert. gemologist) but could definitely be wrong

My cats drink from my water feature too. We clean them often so they don't get sick. Water seems to taste better when it comes from a fountain.

You could put sliced carrots, celery or spring onions in your snack container holes where the forks didn't fit. 🌻

You gotta be careful to keep water in the water fountain now that the cat has discovered it because if the pump runs dry it will burn out...

In the pipe holder you purchased, you could add flower buds in the holes for decoration (real or faux) as one possibility. You could also roll up napkins and place them in the holes. Your candle holders look so good without the red on them. Wouldn't that red stuff melt and burn anyway?
