    Nothing so serious. It was becoming an issue in her part of the garden, so I disposed of it. It looks like a lot of the Agatized/Opalized/Petrified wood I find out here.
    Help us keep the lights on, and maybe I'll send you a pretty rock!:

    All these rocks are from my private property (unless specified), deep in undiscovered territory in Snohomish County, Washington.

    Dang i really need a big tile saw now😂 a lot of those boring looking rocks have spectacular interiors. Even if they're somewhat basic they still look awesome!

      That's what got me started. I picked up a rock that was really really heavy, and it looked weird on the outside. Cut into it and come to find out it was Black Nephrite Jade. Before that I was just finding tons of quartz crystals all over the place. Keep an eye out for heavy rocks with a weird rind on them!

      By the way, is that "I love Colorado Mountains"? I was stationed in the Springs for 3 years.

      Yessir! Got most of my family in the springs, both grandparents on dad's side were Navy, but I don't know their MOS.
      Thank you for serving. I wanted to but I fucked it all up being young and dumb...really think it would have been good for me, but I managed to get into electrical work so I'm happy to be useful in other ways😁

      Do you mind if I ask what you did during your career? The best foremen I've ever worked for were military. Best instructors and the least-often unnecessarily demeaning to their apprentices. In my experience anyways lol

    This made me laugh 😂 I have to know though…How is she planning to decorate the shower with it? Is it a stone shower? I think I need to see pics of this interior design vision

      Ah, so I slab a ton of the rocks that I cut to about 1/4 inch, and then use them for tiling. So here, check out this video to see how I started the floor in my house: th-cam.com/video/ExTPcelRKBw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=HtTKwQnsy8KbxJxj
      The plan will be to slab this one up and then tile the walls of the shower with it just like that. This one's getting saved for that project.

      @ICutRocks  10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yep. It's still in those two pieces because I need to figure out a better way to slab them. Or figure out how I'd carve them.

    this rock could be granite but nothing special

    • @ICutRocks
      @ICutRocks  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      I'm pretty sure it's serpentine. Way too hard and dense to be granite. It was a tougher cut than some jades I've sliced. It's translucent and shines up really nice, so either way it's getting slabbed and probably used for a shower or something nice.

  • @aarondavid9471
    @aarondavid9471 25 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    No expert, but I believe it's mottled serpentine

    • @ICutRocks
      @ICutRocks  25 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      It's tough to say. The pattern makes me want to say it's /not/ a nephrite, but just barely. Like it's a serpentine that was taken out of the oven 50 years too early. It was honestly like the 2nd or 3rd hardest rock I've cut.

      @@ICutRocks gravity density tests if you have ever heard of it. Will tell you what you got. It’s very easy to learn the formula once you get the gravity density of rock it will help identify jades n serpentines

      @@aarondavid9471 yeah I've done it before, these are just kinda big for the setup I've done it with and I don't want to hack off smaller pieces until I know what it is... Kind of a catch 22.

    • @ICutRocks
      @ICutRocks  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Coprolite? :D I don't think they get this dense. The difficulty of the cut makes me say it's a jade, but the patterns inside kinda put that one to bed.

      @ICutRocks lmao 🤣 my partner is like that too. If they hurt themselves on something, they will be mad at said thing, even if that thing is not a living thing 😂
      I'd love to cut big rocks, but equipment is expensive. I will have to stick to little rocks with my dremel and diamond wheel bits.

    • @ICutRocks
      @ICutRocks  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, I inherited the big saw from my dad, but it's only like $300 at Harbor Freight (they need to give me a sponsorship for how much I hock their products for free). I'd love to upgrade to a legit lapidary saw, but thems is expeeeeensive. I really need one of the automatic ones so I can set it and forget it for doing more slabs.
