Yea, I make a record in the language of my father, which consists of the learning of the Jews and the language of the Egyptians. And I know that the record which I make is true; and I make it with mine own hand; and I make it according to my knowledge". 1 Nephi 1-3 Hello friends, I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The verses above are the first three verses in The Book of Mormon. I know this probably isn't the most ideal place to talk about religion but I really do want you to know that God loves you. You may not love Him or care about Him at all, but He still will continue to love you. You are a beloved son or daughter of God. He knows you personally and He truly and deeply desires for your happiness. He loves everyone who has every lived on this earth, with a perfect equal love regardless of their race, gender, ethnicity, faith and values and beliefs. The Lord loves you more than you can think or comprehend. "He inviteth them all to come unto him and partake of his goodness; and he denieth none that come unto him, black and white, bond and free, male and female; and he remembereth the heathen; and all are alike unto God, both Jew and Gentile" 2 Nephi. He is our loving, caring Heavenly Father. We are literally His children and creations. When we were in the womb, he knew about us" Jerimiah 4:5. He knitted us and we were created in His image. I testify to you that you and I are not a mistake. He knows the very moment when we stand and when we sit. He is familiar with all our ways and knows us personally who we are. The hairs on our very head are numbered. God loved us so much, He sent His Only Begotten Son for us, that we may be able to return and dwell in the presence of God again. The Lord has not forgotten about us even when it feels like He has. He will never forsake us. When we are happy, He and His angels rejoice alongside us. When we are sad, He heals us and lifts us up from our trials. He has always been there for us. He has always been our loving, compassionate Heavenly Father and God. Will we always be His children and people? I testify to you that God lives and that Jesus is the Christ. Both love you exceedingly and rejoice when you are happy. They both love you so much. They love you with a love unfeigned. They will never ever stop doing good unto you. I know that The Book of Mormon is true. "And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost". Moroni 10:4 I promise and testify to you, that if you will read The Book of Mormon, ponder on its message and ask God if it is not true, you will come to know of its truthfulness, whether its true or not true. Remember my friends that God loves you with all his heart, might mind, soul and strength. He wants you to be happy. He knows what you are going through and dealing with right now. He desires for you to return back to Him. Unfortunately, He has been misrepresented and seen as a cruel and angry God who anticipates for us to slip and writes down every mistake we make waiting to punish us by those who do not know or know Him fully. My friends, God has stored many opportunities and blessings for you. He is incredibly eager and desires with all His heart to bless you abundantly. He wants you to live with Him again. He only wants the best for you and your well being. He wants to experience everlasting joy and indescribable happiness in this life and in the life to come. He wants you to partake of His goodness and come and follow Him. The Lord does not care how early or late you decide to come unto Him. I testify to you that if you have strayed and wondered off the path that there is hope in Jesus Christ, The Savior of the world. The Lord accepts those who come unto Him whether your early, late or just in time who desire to change. The Lord will accept you wholeheartedly and forgive you if you are willing to change. The Lord will welcome you and will always be ready to embrace you with open arms. The Lord will lift us up in our trials and use us to bless the lives of those around us if we are willing to change. If you desire to learn more, you are always welcome to visit comeuntochrist.org. There you will learn more about The Church of Jesus Christ and our core beliefs and values. If you have taken the time to read The Book of Mormon and this comment, thank you. It takes a huge leap of faith and a lot of courage to muster enough faith to read in the Book of Mormon and to believe in something in a personage that you may never see in this lifetime. Although we may not be able to see God and Jesus Christ in this life, I testify to you that they are real. They do truly exist. I promise you that if you will pray to know of their existence, you will come to know whether they exist or have been made up. You are my friends. The Lord loves you and despite all our weaknesses, complaining, arguing, and shortcomings, he still loves us and will forgive us if we will humble ourselves before Him and diligently seek correction and do whatever is needed to repent. Remember that The Lord is always available to talk to through prayer 24/7. No question sounds too silly for Him. James wrote, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him" James 1:5. If you must know whether or not something is true or evil and deceptive, you can always pray to God. He will help you know what the truth is and what is not the truth. He will never be too busy to talk to. He will give you strength you need to overcome and conquer your temptations and will give you the strength you need to endure through your trials and afflictions. Paul said that The Lord will not give you temptations that you cannot resist, but that in your temptations, He will provide a way for you to resist, overcome and conquer them. He will provide a way. He wants to bless you and reward you abundantly. The Lord knows you and will not forget you. You are loved. You are utterly amazing. You have incredible potential. You are not forgotten or ever will be forsaken. You are special. You are unique. You are one of a kind. You have been reserved for this time and The Lord needs you on His side. It simply would not be the same without you. Thank you for your time.
The rock is quite beautiful when polished. I love stuff carved out of rock. I got a Chinese stone carving of a couple of fish swimming together that once belonged to my great grandmother. It's ok. Now I'm curious about what else you have carved out of rock.
It's funny that I saw a guy turn a rock into a lampshade that actually let light through, but your cup video was really fun to watch. I think I liked your project because it seems like I could make one too. Liked and Subscribed
I agree! I don't have any agate here in NY, but if anyone would like to send me some I would gladly turn it into one! Email us and we can make it happen!
I am blessed to have been recommended this video lmao. You remind me of Codyslab somewhat in relation to how excited you seem to be doing your craft. Can't wait to see more!
Lucky for you I am already half way done making one, just need to sand and polish it! Stay tuned, some Thursday it will be an official video! I also like the fork idea, maybe even a whole set!
This is awesome. I have to ask though if there's any risk of the rock fragmenting off or containing substances that might leech into the beverage? If it's completely safe I'd love to own stone mugs. On a side note, 7:51 christ man, I hope that thing has a sawstop.
Depends on the rock. Granite is probably about as inert as one can get. Water will win at eroding/dissolving stuff - but not in your lifetime. Also, those are tile saw blades. Not carpenter blades with nasty teeth. The blade is smooth with diamond dust mushed into it. Nasty abrasion maybe, but it won't take your finger off. Gloves are probably sufficient protection. sawstop also probably wouldn't work since the water all over the blade would trigger false positives.
I agree completely. Tile saw is nothing like wood or metal saw blades. The worst that you will get is an abrasion cut. While you could probably take a finger off, it's because some has it held there for a while until it finally gets through it
Thanks for sharing - I'm looking at using some semi-precious rock to turn pens (rhyolite and jasper)- I appreciated seeing your rock on lathe work. For a mug, I would have just used a core drill for the preform then gone the hollow-it-out route. - Vince
It's a really cool looking cup! I hate to be a Debbie downer though. Do you know the mineral composition of the rock you're using? I'd hate to think you might be causing anything toxic to leach out. Especially since you are putting a hot liquid in it.
Thankyou! You aren't being a downer, I do know the composition. I identified most of the minerals by hand. It is primarily composed of Potassium feldspar, Orthoclase feldspar, Pyroxene and a small amounts of Quartz. That makes it anywhere from a Granite to an Anorthosite, which are very rich in silica. Silica and oxygen make up 70% of all minerals and are only harmful to people if airborne. There aren't any heavy metal minerals in this rock. Any type of chemical weathering from water being in this cup would take thousands of years mainly by hydrolases (not oxidation, the process that causes acid mine drainage). And all that would happen is the feldspars would turn into clay. Even boiling water in it is hundreds of degrees Celsius below any type of mineral transformation that would occur. I am confident that this mug does not give off anything harmful and wont for many many generations. Thanks for watching the video!
Thanks for your reply! I kind of figured you knew what you were doing. But at the same time, someone who doesn't know thier rocks as well as you could think this is ok to do with any neat looking rock😀
@@songbirdscreations-MargaretS you are welcome! and very true, I would never do this with any type of ore because of a higher potential for chemical weathering.

A radial arm saw is probably the most dangerous tool ever made. Stay away from it. Nice. Years ago, I came up with a plan to make forged knives with handles made of stones like agate, jasper, and nephrite jade. An ABS bladesmith making "sole-author" knives, including the sheaths, could do very well, and there's very little competition doing solid stone handles, especially turned ones with hidden tangs. That's because the stone handles are the hardest part by far. Anyway, the equipment list I had in mind looked a lot like what you have here. Nice to see the process of working these cobbles of natural stone. It's a lot of work!

Tile saws don't draw blood that easy... I know from experience. I will get on that airplane next haha
@@naturalstones4529 Two thumbs up on the video. I haven't lost anything to a tile saw either thank goodness!
@@RyllenKriel Two thumbs up from a wood or stone crafter is kind of a "work safely" salute?
That rocks!
Thank you for your support @DCN
Respect! Working on stones is hard, crumbly... requires a lot of patience and planning more than with wood. Fantastic video, beautiful art. Loved it.
Exactly what i waz thinking, not sure if i have tbe patience myself lol
The imperfections make it even more of a deliciously unique idea. I want a set
“Hey do you have a cup or something?”
“I’ll be right back.”
Since I found out you can melt rock with a fresnel lens, I've wanted to see someone do a rock carving using one. That would be epic I think.
you can melt rock many ways not just with heat, had you stayed in school, and took grade 10 chemistry you would know this
and Jerry Whidby is obviously not your real name Raj radjackstan
i don't know why youtube lets you people do this, they don't let north american natives do this.
Drunk or insane? Is this supposed to be a false flag incident where you try to make me feel contempt for people who want strong borders? By the way I did take chemistry in high school. I am also subbed to a few chemist like Nile Red and Cody's Lab. I don't want to feed the troll, that's you bro, but the weird out of left field claim that I am Indian was bizarre.
When the heck did anything about borders get involved
Between my wife and I we are always breaking coffee cups.
Usually happens when the coffee cup hits the floor.
The other problem is finding a cup that fits my large hand.
A stone mug could be made proportional to the hand that will be using it.
It could also dent the floor or break a toe!
Either way I like it!
Probably! thanks!
Future historians are gonna be like wtf when they find that in thousands of years
This would be an incredible experience to drink from a piece of our Planet Earth. Fantastic!
Absolute excitement to drink coffee out of a rock. And I'm here for it!
Well done, really like your imaginative use of non - traditional lapidary tools. You've got me thinking now......also like your use of "rock" instead of more traditional gemstone materials.
Thank you Ralf, I hope to expose the beauty of many minerals worked together. Gems are not the only beautiful thing produced by Earth!
@@naturalstones4529 I agree, I've always believed that as well.
I, Nephi, having been born of goodly parents, therefore I was taught somewhat in all the learning of my father; and having seen many afflictions in the course of my days, nevertheless, having been highly favored of the Lord in all my days; yea, having had a great knowledge of the goodness and the mysteries of God, therefore I make a record of my proceedings in my days. Yea, I make a record in the language of my father, which consists of the learning of the Jews and the language of the Egyptians.
And I know that the record which I make is true; and I make it with mine own hand; and I make it according to my knowledge". 1 Nephi 1-3
Hello friends, I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Your enthusiasm is what made me subscribe. Keep it goin
Awesome, thank you!
Awesome! I would like to see you do a narrow necked vase next like the ones from ancient Egypt. Or a teapot to go with the mug.
I am born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. I am Amhara. Coffee originated from Ethiopia.
i didnt know i would ever meet someone so excited to drink out of a rock...but it also made me excited as well....this is going to be a good watch
The rock is quite beautiful when polished. I love stuff carved out of rock. I got a Chinese stone carving of a couple of fish swimming together that once belonged to my great grandmother. It's ok.
Now I'm curious about what else you have carved out of rock.
Wow
It's funny that I saw a guy turn a rock into a lampshade that actually let light through, but your cup video was really fun to watch. I think I liked your project because it seems like I
could make one too. Liked and Subscribed
Mica is really good for that and was supposedly one of the early translucent window materials. Horn was also used at times for things like lanterns.
A genius with a WEN machine - Perfect Combo! Digits are precious.
Just like the Flintstones used to use!
This is so cool! I can't wait to see the next project!
Thankyou! Every Thursday we have a new project so ill see you next Thursday!
This would be great using a big agate.
Thanks!
I can't be a pessimist when I see that this level of skill and creativity still exists.
I'm guessing you still can be.
I love how excited you were in the beginning to make a coffee cup out of a rock, and drink out of it. lol
that was sick! You should make a chef knife out of a rock. maybe a fork as well.
While you could probably take a finger off, it's because some has it held there for a while until it finally gets through it
@@eh42 The concern is rocks containing lead, arsenic, mercury, cadmium, etc. All pretty common.
this scared the shit out of me.
Idk how feasible this would be but i would love to see one in basalt with a more rough hewn look, especially if it was made out of a solid block 🙏
Its definitely possible, but you open yourself up to more toxic metals the finer you go, plus possible holes and brittelness.
May in fact be the grooviest how to video I've ever Watched! Thank you very much young sir.
Perfeito, ficou incrível, parabéns!!
wow that was insanely cool!! I want one! you should make a goblet next
Thanks! We plan to make more next summer when we can get the time spent down to make these more affordable for everyone!
Thanks for sharing - I'm looking at using some semi-precious rock to turn pens (rhyolite and jasper)- I appreciated seeing your rock on lathe work. For a mug, I would have just used a core drill for the preform then gone the hollow-it-out route. - Vince
Great point! I also had this thought about the core drill after the fact and am saving up to buy one in the near future. Thanks for the tip!
I liked when I saw someone make a bathroom sink out of a rock, but a mug even better! Art and purpose, great job
stoneware on another level
How's the heat retention on hot beverages? This is amazing btw. I want to learn how to do this for no good reason but to make rock cups.
this is definitely a mug I would preheat because it's got a lot of thermal mass and will suck the heat right out of a fresh cup
@@naturalstones4529 I was wondering if you knew the rock type! I was sitting here trying to pick out grains through the whole video, lol. Have you ever worked anything out of microgabbro? 7:52 man, we only have ten fingers ! Don’t do that again…
Hard work can make anything valuable
This is awesome!!
Challenge mode: Create the mug in one piece, not using glue for the handle
This mug rocks! What type of adhesive did you glue the handle on with - jb weld?
This is one of the coolest things I’ve seen. I hated watching you grind down the wet handle on the saw. I wouldn’t be able to do that without losing something 🥵 Is there a special glue you had to use so the handle doesn’t break off?
Are you fruity
Awesome video! Seeing that you built your own rock saw from a tile saw I'm wondering if a radial arm saw would work better? The stone would be stationary and you would be moving the saw instead. I can't wait to see what other creations you come up with!
Thanks! That is a good idea but im not sure how to get the cost down on a radial saw. Also there are so many moving parts made from steel that might rust so Im not sure if it would be worth it to try. I am thinking about building an industrial band saw with diamond tipped blade so U can cut large slabs!
@@naturalstones4529 I picked up a used radial arm saw for free about 12 years ago and have always wondered about using it as a stone cutting saw, today I picked up a Mastercraft sliding tile saw for $100.00, your video inspired to me to get back into playing around with stone
@@mikec6157 Wow that's fantastic! There are plenty of awesome textures to be worked with stone I'm happy to have inspired you :) Stay tuned for more inspiration! Thanks for watching.
A radial arm saw is probably the most dangerous tool ever made. Stay away from it. It's so bad that there is a organization that buys these saws just to get them off out of the hands ( that is if they still have their hands) of people before they lose their finger or hands. I believe they pay $150.00 per saw.
@@shoppe99 I have 2 radial arm saws, I have had them for over 10 years. Any power tool in the wrong hands can be dangerous, in some cases the radial arm saw is safer than other power tools in my shop

thats actually really cool dude!
YOU: (makes mistake) “I’m a genius.”
HOMER J SIMPSON: “I am so smart, S-M-R-T…”
It might be easier to make the mug a simple square or octagon shape, and as a regular shape it won’t appear “wonky” at all, nor will it take the extra work of trying to make it a perfect cylinder…
I need a big Viking Stein and a Pimp Cup/goblet made like that….
Pretty cool project. Thank you for the video!
Out of curiosity, how long did the whole process take you? Also, how heavy is it?
I would say about 8 hours of work and probably double a normal coffee cup
I guess there must be a god, as proven by the fact that this guy's still got 10 fingers. Unless I've miscounted.
A rock saw won’t cut you as easily as a table saw or miter saw for wood.
@@emoticonfury8726 doesn't hurt to be careful nonetheless
@@TheFloatingSheep it would be like a really focused rope burn.
That's what I like to call a Hard Rock Café
as someone with 37 years experience working stone.... I was entertained. I would have gone a different route - but it worked out. Some sort of granite, similar to MN or ND types. Keep at it!
Nice! AS far as the diamond hole saw bits do you buy from Amazon or from a lapidary supply shop? thanks
I usually buy lower priced tools from amazon. I think as long as you treat them right they will last just as far as a lapidary shop. Plus, if they do break (Which they will, it is easier to replace) Thanks for watching! Links are in the description.
ROCK AND STONE
i have never seen someone so happy to turn... of all things....a rock into a coffe cup. XD I love it.
I've always wanted a rock mug. Stoneware is nice and all, but a rock should be the next level.
Crazy to think old kingdom egyptians could make even more extravagant designs with granite and at best all we can find is copper saws.
You certainly are a very stable genius. And that's very special.
Dunno why, but I feel very satisfied watching this kinda of stuff
That cup is as solid as a rock!!
That is so awesome! I have a lot of larger stones that would be perfect for this. Thanks for sharing this.
I think Bam bam's gonna want a cup of coffee in the morning.!!🤣
just discovered this channel Nd I feel like Time traveling back to the stone ages and flex on our ancestors
Next. Make a coffee pot. If you did a drip pot with the funnel at the top and a pot to collect the coffee as it drips I think it would be doable. Imagine going from rock to rock with your coffee production!
I don't know exactly how I arrived here, but I'm glad I did. It feels like the channel Andy Dwyer would make.
This guy is going to take us back to the STONE AGE, u ROCK man..... Also you should drink all your coffee before it gets STONE COLD.
I don't know crap about safety when it comes to this but it gives me heart palps to see your hand on a wet surface that close to a saw beautiful cup btw
I love this because this mug could potentially last centuries
Slab saw, rock lathe, boring machine, etc. Spent a lot of time looking at tool vendors at the Denver mineral show. Never did take the plunge, but I sure thought about it. Nice to see the process of working these cobbles of natural stone. It's a lot of work!
u seem really concerned about it being perfect but i think the imperfections make it charming! im glad the rock stayed in one piece. the final product is so awesome
From a rock to a coffee mug? This is crazy cool. You should be proud of yourself. Thanks for an awesome video.
Last week I bought for the astonishing price of £3.75p an antique stone 1 pint mug, apparently belonged to a Welsh quarryman and carved out of a single piece of unknown stone. I am soaking it at the moment as I suspect it was used as a plant pot and tastes a bit funny, the skill of it and the handle isn't glued on but of the single piece is amazing. Loved watching this to get an idea how this old Welsh chap set about making his mug :)
I made a pretty big sink out of a granit rock I took with me from the beach. The feeling when you complete a project out of something THAT hard is incredible.
