Michael Brodie: Boxing Life Stories

  • Michael Brodie had an incredible career.
He was desperately unlucky not to be crowned WBC super-bantamweight champion against Willie Jorrin and then came up against the likes of Injin Chi and Scott Harrison. Brodie was a Manchester favourite who packed the crowds in and was involved in several Fight of the Year contenders.
He never had it easy. Here, he talks about those big nights and an unexpected fall that saw him jailed for unwittingly become a drug runner as a taxi driver, before all charges were dropped. It's an incredible story.
The Michael Brodie story is purely from the heart.

With Ricky actually being from Hattersley quite a few miles away from Manchester up in the hills, Brodie was always Manchester's people's champ to me. As he said, he had huge support in inner city Manchester from collyhurst to Clayton. Legend.

Great interview & nice to hear from Brodie.
I'm not a boxer but being in champs camp and training alongside Brodie, Bingham, Core, Thompson, Maddox and doing bar bag was a great experience.
All the best Brodie and thanks for advice on how to throw a jab properly.👍🏾

Good Interview with Michael Brodie former Manchester boxer. From what he's been through in his. Life loosing him Mum at the. Age of 15 He was always in some hard fights. Two fights with Injin Chi, and lost a Controversial to. Willie Jorrin in my Opinion he won that fight, bad Judging thaught Scott Harrison, and was knocked out in. Four Rounds he won the British & Commenwealth & European Titles, i would like to see him become World Champion, he was good enough he pass his. Knowledge on too younger boxers. He was braugh up on a. Council Estate, i hope he gets his own. Boxing Gym, and best of luck too Him, 🥊🙏😀

Really enjoying these interviews. Fascinating to listen to some of these great fighters talk honestly about their careers. Michael was a top man in his day but the Jorrin 'defeat' took something out of him. Taking on a Mexican/American for a WBC title though, it's no surprise what happened. All the best to Michael for the future.

Im not gonna lie lol. I like michael, probably not as much as michael likes michael lol but i do like him. He was in some brilliant fights back in the day. At the top top level though he would of got beaten badly by the barreras and morales's. Never the less he was a good fighter and i always watched him when i was younger and knew he was going to bring entertaining fights. I remember he used to mention naz a lot back in the day, but i dont think he would of taken naz's power
