I love how you let us see the other side of so many folk who are almost instantly judged, I’ve always been taught forgiveness and this just proves to me what my good old gran use to say- “we r all gods children and we all have a story”
Keep up the interviews James , you really should have your own TV show but sadly tv channels would probably dilute your content.

It takes a real man to admit he's failings in life but this guy were he's heart on he's sleeve and he sounds like a gentleman. More power too him. Great interview James. I've really enjoyed it and I can understand the difficulties he's been through. Great stuff.

Yet another masterclass in interviewing by James English - he really is light years ahead of the so-called big name interviewers who seem to be more intent on their own self promotion rather than the stories of their guests... Brilliant James, well done, great work. As for Billy Moore - what a great fella. A really strong and inherently decent man. Keep up the great work - both of youse.

What i took from this interview is kids who are born into homes with lets say challenging environments I.e. abusive parents, maybe drug abuse, warring parents, poverty and so forth,so they may often spend their whole life trying to combat the after effects or residuals.
Even those who manage to avoid the pitfalls of Drugs or crime and perhaps manage to carve out a relatively normal life&family for themselves may still struggle with Depression and other maladies..
I was raised in a family of 8kids,&they could have been more!(they were typical Irish, from the hills of county Kerry&my
parents, were pretty much out of their depth in London, the Irish were'nt to popular back then!,)
so i certainly understand him having no relationship with his father.
And living in the E.end of London i could have easily have gone down that road of Drugs, booze and crime..but thankfully I always worked&kept busy (my own kind of therapy)But the anger and resentment never dissipates.
.I no longer live in the UK,but every day&week is always a challenge and as i said that State of mind can easily resurface itself..def a work in progress..

I have watched the film not read the book yet only because I didn't realised there was one. But Billy Moore as a great story to tell and tells it well. I do think labelling him a gangster is a bit strong. He seems to of a villain nothing major. But the selling point his the time he spent in Thai prison and survived to tell his story and it's an inspiring story. Great podcast one of the best because he's not bigging himself up

    Another top Podcast James.
Billy's story reminds me of Warren Fellows story, an Australian drug smuggler who was caught smuggling heroin and served 12 years in a series of Thai prisons.
In his book, The Damage Done, he tells the story about being transferred up to a farm type prison after serving a few years of his sentence.
Once in a while he said there was a fella who could get prisoners access to a pig so they could have "sexual relations" with it for a few packs of cigarettes.
Warren states that for a few packs more you could even get a good looking one!

I think it was around 99 I met Billy in altcourse prison he was on the same wing has I was. I'm glad he's turned his life around and staying clean from drugs. I know how much addiction takes over your life and how hard it is to break that cycle of being a heroin addict. I'm still after 25 years trying to get myself sorted out but I have changed so much for the better than I was 10 years ago. I could listen to Billy talk all day long he's a proper nice guy and seems a very clever fella to. Good on you Billy keep up the great work you do helping people like myself much respect all the best and take care buddy 👍

fantastic interviews james, ive never had a boring minute while listening to the people you have interviewed, you seem to connect so well with people from all walks of life and you have a raw talent, life as a crimanal is a load of shite, even whern your making lots of cash,as the more you earn, the more people are being hurt, and im a firm believer in karma and that the more badness you put out there, does come back to you eventually, and its obviously true becouse of all the ex-crimms saying about a life of crime is a life of misery, and to hear it from some of the hardest men out there just clarifies my way of thinking,so anyway james, keep up the good work becouse people need to hear that a life of crime is shite, and to hear from the fellas who have been massive in there time to now say how shite it really is ,i hope some people listen to these interviews and make a real change to their life, but if not then thats their problem, but top man james for trying to reach those who need to change their lives, keep well pal. justin from chesterfield derbys

      @Justin Wragsdale,
Great post mate, and i agree with you, that karma, whether good, or bad, will come back to us .
For some young ones, hopefully, these videos will make them think twice about going down the crime path, but others, especially kids with very strong willed characters , won't listen, and go on to make their own mistakes .
It's a pity they can't show videos like these to teenagers, in schools, it might be better than boring them silly with stuff they're not interested in .

I'm Andy by the way using mi dear old mams account! Well i certainly havent got the stories to tell like Billy but my life is very similar. I got hooked on heroin aged 16 and am still using to this day, aged 43. I've served 19 prison sentences up and down the country. I too have been in that dark, lonely place. Sat in a prison cell wanting to die because there just doesn't seem to be a way out of my addiction and the desperation and depression it breeds. Quite emotional listening to billys story as I can identify with it personally. Seems a great guy. Congratulations on 18 months clean !

I was on drink and drugs In the past for many years even tried to take my own life on a couple occassions but still here and glad I'm here ..... I have done a few prison sentences. I used the prison to get clean.my last prison sentence made me realise I need to stop this or it is the life I going to live forever. I got a single cell started reading helped me focus and started training in gym and in my cell. All of a sudden I started suffering with epilepsy due to me going cold turkey and coming off drink and drugs got told the way I stopped using my addictions could have killed me. I now suffer with epilepsy and will all my life but since my release in 2015 I have a everything I've ever wanted house job family and happiness ... I can do it so believe me it's possible if you want clean but you got to want it that much. Even stay away from so calls friends in other drug users and drug dealers. They wil only push u to take or buy they will make your life worse and harder to stop that's for sure.. But all the best stay safe get focused in stay focused on getting clean. The more you believe and the more you want it. It will happen take care
