    Am a big fan of your teaching. I have just watched 3 short game videos including the three errors and land the plane. Compared to your driver video, those short game videos do not as clearly explain set-up, particularly as relates to weight distribution, shoulder position and the proper way to achieve same. It may be that I am not as well versed as many of your students yet.

    Great tips - a checklist to remember when the time comes on the course. If there's any benefit of coronavirus, it has forced me into the back yard with a wedge to chip back and forth. It's paying dividends. I've come to think of it more like putting.Thanks, Rob.

    I don't know if I agree with you on this one Todd! In Southern California with so much St. Augustine grass, putting from off the green isn't always the best option! I have now opted for shots over 3 feet off the green to use a 5 fairway wood or a 5, 7, or 8 iron depending on the depth of the pin. I will set up taller, a narrow open stance, an upward club angle, ball inside the right toe, putter grip, and use a putting stroke on the ball. Results have always been positive with some hole outs.

    It would be helpful if you comment on whether you use the bounce and if so, whether you try to catch the ball first or hit slightly behind it and let the club skid into the ball, as recommended by several people, like Roger Cleveland. This is an especially important distinction when chipping from tight lies, as you know.

  • @LK-ow7iw
    @LK-ow7iw ปีที่แล้ว

    May I ask if any club face angle manipulation is needed if standing closer to the ball? If using the same address but standing closer for this type of shot, wouldn't the ball kick right since the toe of the club would be lower than the heel vs the entire sole lying some what flat at address when standing normal?
    BTW, appreciate your videos as others have commented. Great explanations without overly trying to 'convince' your method as others do. Mahalo! 🤙🏼

    Hi Rob, thank you for this amazing video. For this kind of chipping, I would use most of the time more 9, 8 iron with slight descending motion towards the ball. Would you agree? Let say I want use with more confidence sandwedge, I think I need to use more bounce, correct? To use bounce, shaft lean foward or excessive shaft lean forward is not good I believe..Any comments are very helpful Thanks...

    Thanks Rob! I needed that video. I have been opening my stance to the left even though it doesn't feel right. You seem to be using body pivot while others seem to say to use a putting stroke without moving the body. Every time I do that it feels somewhat awkward. Thoughts?

  • @hobbyhoundsmt5525

    This is much like a putting stroke with a wedge? I find if I use any wrist action it ends badly.

  • @UKBLUE1
    @UKBLUE1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I disagree about the open stance. But agree that your shoulders should be square to target line. I see too many people stop their sternum and become arms only with a square stance. And open stance helps you to keep the upper body moving thru impact. My opinion.

    Hello, keeping 3 club head distance, a lttle angle arms and shafl, I see the handle appears at height of my bell line. So maintaining the edge is flat onto ground, i have to bend arms at setups ( look like Oscar in flat slop video) and rather make backswing comfortably. I guess your height is 1m75cm. But still, any club fitting will be for a short typed person?

    Although I am very much an advocate of ST I disagree here with what you describe as the 1st mistake.The great John Jacobs advocated weight forward hands forward and more emphasis on the hands & arms with a natural pull of the shoulders.The obvious aim point here is to the front of the ball not behind it.This technique offers greater accuracy and subtlety.Strange that you condemn it.
