Great video G! LNER is one of my favourite operators to travel with - a few years back, I was travelling home to London and I got upgraded to first class because I was only 13. I had a great time and when the staff realised I was a train enthusiast, they let me into the cab!
Fantastic vlog! So happy you got to ride the Pride Azuma which I took on my first train ride to Scotland earlier this year! LNER tend to be a really good train operator! Nice to have a little change from Avanti West Coast though! Didnt know about the timetable change, thanks for sharing!
I.used to live in holme village just 5 mins down the line from Peterborough, I had level crossing quiet close to end of garden and sat in garden watching trains go by, used to get stuck at level crossing for 20+ minutes due to the amount of trains, loved it x
I used to see all the old GNER trains in Glasgow all the time when I was young G and it’s a great pity that LNER are permanently withdrawing their one remaining service from Glasgow! Also nice of you to be in my neck of the woods again 😜
I used to always use GNER back when I lived in Scotland. The biggest problem with Virgin was that it arrived into Euston 🤮, except for the once a day service they used to run to Paddington. I would take that one if I was going to somewhere like Oxford.
@@Weegiegreek Intercity East Coast ran Kings Cross to Glasgow services for as long as I can remember. The first one I rode, shortly after the launch of the Intercity 125, departed from Queen Street. They later moved to Central.

Using Easyjet to fly from my home town of Southampton to Glasgow at end of month and after watching your vid I decided to get that LNER service back to London as it suits my timetable. Love your vids and you seemed so happy to be aboard the LNER Pride Azuma.... perhaps I might get lucky too....😁😁
Brilliant video G, you're so lucky to get a good long ride on the LNER Pride Azuma. Good to see the journey went well this time and it was so awesome that a member of the onboard traincrew recorded that message. :)
I love LNER first class but usually I'm on a train with the Deli menu but when I went to London in May I set a day aside for a trip to York and made sure to book trains which had the Dine menu and I concur about the onboard crew, their wonderful
Great vlog G. Nice ride on LNER first class from Glasgow to London. I travelled on a short journey with LNER back in August but only in standard class.
Epic trip - it looked smooth & fast. I'd have never though of looking at first class, but as you say it's worth it, here. I rarely read on trains either, for the same reason. It makes sense to cancel the Glasgow part.
Excellent video G! Your soo lucky you got 801 226 (Pride Train) on that limited service. The East Coast Main Line is always my favorite main line in the country due to the amazing views and even all the stations along the line, keep up the fantastic content 👏😊
Wow That was brilliant , but you make it that way, Loved your choice of your meal, I loved traveling back n forth on the Pen, in 2014-18, but never did it First Class, would love to travel from London to Glasgow, on the LNER line, First Class. There is also a few services which are being withdrawn by LNER, Stirling to London Kings Cross which is a one train per day as well and I think Sunderland to London Kings Cross is going as well which is one train per day as well and agree that it was a bonus to ride the pride Azuma. Great video G!
Surprised to hear that the Stirling service has been taken away. 😢 Not so surprised about Sunderland route though as Grand Central have been doing a grand service on that journey for years now so always ging to be difficult to make that pay. :(
Great Video G! Our Glasgow crew are an amazing bunch, always happy when at work especially the colleague who was in the film. I’m going to miss working our Glasgow service when it finishes at the end of the year and just becomes an Edinburgh starter/finisher.
Fantastic vlog as always G and hope that you were not to tired from the early start and no doubt you will have to look out for the knicker monster soon
That was an early start! It was great to see the Pride livery Azuma too - I actually attended my first Pride up here this year, volunteering at it for my employer, and I loved it. @@GLovesTrains Thank you! I know I have been lucky in having nothing but acceptance from family and friends. My heart goes out to those who do not have that.
LNER staff are great! Very professional but also very friendly and fun! I've only traveled 1st class on All Line Rovers but out of all the companies, LNER is probably one of the few I'd pay the extra to travel in 1st class on a regular ticket. Decent variety of food and drink and the good staff make it a great option. LNER are very consistent in their service which seems rarer these days.
Great video and excellent timing thanks! We will be doing London to Edinburgh when we visit the UK next year and I am currently researching LNER. It looks like it is worth doing just forr the great scenery alone.
Fantastic vlog G i haven't been to Glasgow for a long time i used to go when there was a more regular service i used to get off the train at Edinburgh and catch a train to Glasgow queen street and walk to Glasgow central station and film the train arriving there that i had been on to Edinburgh
The first class between Inverness and Edinburgh very popular with people who live in and around Inverness for a day out in Edinburgh, mostly due to the fact you get your breakfast on the way down and hot dinner on the way back up to Inverness. Last time went to Edinburgh for the day from Inverness with LNER, virtually the whole of First Class passengers got off in Edinburgh and I recognised many getting on the train back home later on
If you can book far enough in advance, and your journey is more than an hour, LNER first class is well worth the extra few quid, especially if you have a railcard. The staff are lovely - one of them went to find a plaster and helped me put it on when a shaving cut started bleeding just as I was about to have breakfast on an early train from Newcastle to King's Cross.
Good vlog G there is a day services to london from Glasgow Central and the overnight train leave from Glasgow Queen street operated by avanti west coast and Caledonian sleeper using class 390 pendelinos and class 92 locomotives

Great film. I live in Glasgow and have used the LNER service a few times recently, partly because the Avanti service has become so unreliable with them frequently not running trains north of Preston if there is the slightest problem. Several times in the last month there have been no Avantis out of Glasgow for three or four hours on the trot. I will really miss the LNER service when it ends - as well as the super-friendly Glasgow-based crew we saw in the film. I've also done a film where I compared First Class between LNER and ScotRail Glasgow-Edinburgh, and guess who won. It was great going LNER First Class to Edinburgh AND being allowed into the lounge there! By the way, the LNER headrests were removed as they were hopeless.
Looks like LNER have dumped the padded headrests from all trains in F. I wonder whether they'll replace them with something new. Even some white antimacassars would look better! The vegan full LNER looked great!
G, you always give your viewers little extra gifts, like the OBS Attendant a bit of mike time. I hope to be in the UK next year, I'll be visiting mostly tram served cities, a few museums and an airfield in Yorkshire near Tholethorpe. Why Tholethorpe? RCAF 6 Group, 420 Sqdn. A member of the Northern Ohio Ry. Museum near Cleveland, Ohio had a member who served with 420 Sqdn. I serve on the Museum's Board of Directors.
Interesting to see LNER operating from Glasgow Central to London King’s Cross. I wonder if Lumo could operate to Glasgow Central or Glasgow Queen Street from London King’s Cross via the ECML.
