Wow what a lot of different and beautiful places you went to in a short time! Love your occasional head gear critter! Cute little tunnel, beautiful stations Lovely!! Thanks!!! 😁😁😁
You were trapped in a recurring time loop! I love the Derwent Valley Line, one of my favourites! Incidentally, Whatstandwell is the nearest station to the Crich Tramway museum but be warned, the direct walk is up the steppest hill you can climb without the aid of climbing gear & oxygen! Not had an East Midlands Day Ranger in years but I've got all the valid lines in the book and those in Derbyshire can be ridden on more cheaply with a Derbyshire Wayfarer, with buses being thrown in too!
I enjoyed this thanks. I've previously worked for EMR out of Derby, another Derby based company 'Oktal Sydac' making train simulators and before that for Balfour Beatty out of RTC Derby on the engineering trains! Out of that now. Cheers
Thanks for the video G, definitely my favourite purple and green 😮. Great too see that's the last coal fired power stations loved all the places you visited and Nicker monster strikes again!!🙂🚃🚃🚃🚃🇬🇧💚
@PaulGodfrey The line was used for trials of the Class 151, the best DMU British Rail never built. It was also recently used in 2021 for trials with reduced emissions boxes on the Class 170.
I love walking around Whatstandwell, Ambergate and Cromford. My friends and I love to do a train pub crawl between Derby and Matlock, cheap transport and good beers 🍺
Derby is a nice place - I was there a few years back while visiting the Tramway Museum at Crich and really enjoyed it. You're getting close to 25,000 subscribers. Wow! Plenty of Turbostars up where I am, and they're alright, but I'm used to the old faithful 158s I guess.
Another good Glog mm Vlog soz , that looked like a lot of fun, thanking you , hope you had as much fun as it looked, and as always hope you had a good journey back home, take Care G
Brilliant vlog G. You don't have to be into trains to enjoy your channel. They are pure fun and entertaining with interesting information thrown in. Oh yes, and occasionally spooky ! Thank you for posting.
Love watching your channel again makes me when I’m feeling down. I watch your channels and you just make me giggle when you put your pants on your head. Keep up the good work.🫶💜
Had the pleasure of travelling on EMR Meridians between Sheffield and Leicester and back recently. So, it was nice to see you on one as it reminded me of a nice weekend away. Great vid, G. 😊
I am a student at Derby and absolutely love it. The beauty of it is amazing and I honestly love walking around the centre in the early morning because its such a beautiful city.
G - you are getting really good at these vlogs! I enjoyed this one with the extra Halloween bits - very creative. The knicker monster - well that's just the washing basket in our house, assuming the girls manage to actually get them in the basket. The 170's are comfortable trains when they're not rammed!
What a wonderful video G loves train remembering your routes First train 7, 24 from Derby get off at What'sstandwell you walk to Cromford station then you get off at Beeston then down to east midlands parkway off to Leicester then a rail coach to Grantham then to Nottingham then Burton Joyce the River Trent looks lovely then finally you go to Tootbury and Hatton. yes keep the lovely videos coming G
Great vlog G. I did the East Midlands Day Ranger last year and I did manage to visit a fair few places except the line towards Lincoln via Newark Castle. Happy Halloween 🎃
Brilliant video G, nice to see you've been having an adventure around my region and even been down to my local station of Leicester. I've still not done the East Midlands day ranger yet. And that knicker monster causing trouble down these parts as well lol. 🤣
Such a shame that so many lines are lesser of yesteryear can imagine what that line was like in the steam days..ive yet to do these stations of my visiting every station watching this i cant wait.. Thanks G
If you have the Train Sim World video game (you can pick up the base game for free at the moment on PC, Xbox and PS4/5), you can buy the Derwent Valley line in the steam era from Ambergate all the way to Buxton and Chinley. It’s one of their better routes and really gives you a feel of how it must have been. If you don’t feel like learning to drive the steam trains, you can ride as a passenger and get off and walk around the stations.
So much familiarity with this vid. Although I’ve never caught the train at Burton Joyce, I’m often walk my dog nearby and along the path next to the line. I also have family there and for many years drove a bus route through the village. Also Matt Horne’s home town. Recently my wife had the misfortune of travelling to Derby from St Pancras after her train from Kings X to Grantham got cancelled. I ended up fetching the car from Grantham the next day after getting the train from Carlton to Notts then transferring to a Grantham service. Took the aforementioned dog with me and she had a lovely time 😂 When I was a kid my dad worked for British Rail and as such we had family rail passes. Several times per year we’d depart Beeston (local station for us) and go London, Skegvegas, Edinburgh and even a couple of times into France. A reciprocating deal with SNCF saw us pay only port fees. Some trips were from Derby because we could park the car at my Dads work (BREL for those in the know). I’m desperate to take my daughter interrailing but the wife is having none of it. She may come home to a note on the kitchen counter one day though. Whatstandwell lays claim to Ellen MacArthur. Worth a visit on that basis.
i really enjoyed watching this as always i pit stopped & Derby & Leicester on my way home from Leeds last year & both are great for trainspotting & id love to do them both again in the future including Leicester which id love to visit one day ie visit the city & id love to do Peterborough one day as it looks like an awesome station to film trains & same for Grantham & i def love to spend a week on the EMR network in the future as i dont get to travel with EMR very much & is an operator that i keep neglecting maby an idea for next year & im loving all the other stations too brilliant vlog keep up the awesome work
Great video G, my local station is Market Harborough and I’ll have to spend a day visiting a few stations in my region, I don’t often thinking about exploring locally.
Great video "G" It might just be me but your panning shot when you were stood in the vestibule of the meridian 222022 looked like you were on the set of some Star Trek Franchise 🤔The toilet would deffo double for a Turbo Lift. 😉🤣👍.
Great vlog, G! I enjoyed this! I sense spooky vibes with halloween only being a week away! I saw you got to ride a Former ScotRail 170 in the beginning there which was nice to see! I've also got to say I like the 158 EMR interior! Gotta try them out soon! Out of the Turbostars, I of course prefer my ScotRail 170/4's that were built 2004-2005!
@@GLovesTrains Yep! Some of the EMR 170/4's came from ScotRail before their interior was updated to ScotRail's current look. Some of them also came from Southern and were converted from 171's.
The first train you were on,, a class 170, actually looked like it has the old ScotRail interior livery..good fun video and great mix of stations and trains, thank you 😊
I hate the first gen turbostars. I feel like this is just cross country giving them a bad rep (like they have done with the voyagers), but the acceleration on them in painful imo. Nice that you ended at Tutbury and Hatton, the closest station to my work! The chap in the signal box is lovely!
you should try a west midlands day ranger , im from nuneaton and have one every week, crewe is THE place to see locomotives with LSL its worth a visit and i love the pendalinos , i saved over 200 pound yesturday after i totalled up my journey , plus go to birmingham moor street and get on a class 68 to leamington spa with mk3s and a dvt class 821 , or catch a class 67 from crewe to shrewsbury with mk4s and a dvt class 822. so much to do tbh

One of your best ever….love the special effects. Shame it’s becoming a 5 day week railway, they excel at running rail replacement buses rather than trains. A railway out of control. 🚂🚴♂️👣🇺🇦
Thank god you went on Saturday...... EMR was a nightmare on the Friday, I had a little ride to East Midlands Parkway. And all trains to Nottingham was being cancelled due to Signal failure at Loughborough. 06:30 mins ...... there it is, I was there the day before you 🤣 the power station, thats what I wanted to see. You didnt walk down to Redhill Marina then.
Now then, as you're exploring "our neck of the woods" you'll have to let me know when you get brave and venture up the Robin hood line (Nottingham - Worksop). Also, that building on the opposite platform at Cromford is famous for being used on the album sleeve for What's the story morning glory by Oasis back in 1995.
For a good portion of This, I honestly thought you were going to meet some elderly couple named Burt & Joyce 😂 Slightly disappointed to find it's just a station .. But, at least we got some Tractor and Shed shots ❤ Bet you were knackered after filming that chase scene 😂
Absolutely fantastic. Not sure about the knicker monster but the spider on your head is a touch of genius. Thank you.
3:09 onwards with the footsteps and the sound oud rain crackling around was SO lush!! I could listen to that forever, was so cosy :)
“Some might say” that Cromford station is a pretty one…
Another year free of the knicker monster 😜

Hi G, the Derby to Matlock line was traditionally used to trial new classes of train, being so close to the Derby Railway Works.
I remember a 150 on the line in the late 1980s with 2 or 3 types of seat in each carriage to see how they worked out.
@PaulGodfrey The line was used for trials of the Class 151, the best DMU British Rail never built. It was also recently used in 2021 for trials with reduced emissions boxes on the Class 170.
Great video as usual G! I remember Jen visiting Matlock and walking through that very tunnel on the canal
Thanks! I do watch AsdaOTM's videos, must have forgot that bit 😂
What a hoot - love it!!! I actually wondered who was opening the video until I saw that customary swagger.
