    As a overthinker, I feel the pain and suffering of constantly living in fear and anxiety about a future that does not exist.
    I used to see it as preparation for a spontaneous event, but now I see it as a curse that has caused me more pain than any other human done to me.

    When I'm worrying incessantly at night, I imagine turning the light on in my room. It's simple and somehow has the power to change everything. It fills me with light and hope. And makes me feel a little silly for having, just moments before, dug into that cave of darkness so deeply. Another thing to do is to breathe in, count to 4, hold your breath for a count of 7, exhale for a count of 8. Do this about 4 or 5 times and you will realize that you have lost that focus on worrying about a particular thing. You might even be able to get back to sleep!

    I used to have anxieties about the future either, but then I realised, I was just wasting my time. I've been training myself to focus on the present moment. A little bit of Stoic Philosophy does help me in the process, giving some common sense to my senseless brain in the midst of anxiety. You have such beautiful content in your channel, and I hope more people could be inspired by this. Though I must remind myself and anyone reading this, that stoicism not trying to offer absolute solutions to any kind of problems, sometimes we have to care, and sometimes, pain is gain. Using this philosophy to avoid pain is not going to do any good, instead, use this as a guide to learn from pain, learning how to be good at feeling bad.

    I absolutely resonate with the part about trusting our own instincts. I've had to let go of so many people in my life as they were trying to control my decisions and the way I live. So far, the greatest experiences I've had were times that I listened to myself. Of course, I was open to hear others opinions especially people close to me and care for me. However, there is a boundary. And I just cannot live their life for them. Thank you for this! xx

    The problem is that most people fear what hurt them most, i.e., "I don't ever want that to happen to me again." But its not a conscious thing and most people absolutely don't want to talk about the thing that hurt them most in their life. So its not so simple as choosing to live in the present

    I believe we worry because there is still a root problem to solve or analyze within our thoughts. I've spent a lot of time in worry and with anxiety over the last few years and I've realized its okay to "worry" because we worry when there is still something yet to complete, and deep in our mind we sense the problem overwhelmingly but its still in a haze. Open that conversation with yourself find solutions where you can, spend time overlooking all possibilities to find where the worry stems from, then return to the present moment. Allow yourself to worry in meditation or focused thought then find a way back to the present. I have realized that worry and anxiety may be misunderstood and are sort of a human superpower that helps pave the way to a better future. We must pay attention to those warnings and filter out the fear to see the solution. We worry when we're not ready, prepare yourself to be ready and the worry will fade and the present will become clearer. In that sense i can agree and disagree with this outlook of worry.

    It was such a lightbulb moment to realise that almost every single one of my insecurities and worries comes from illusions, fantasies about the future that I have made up in my head. I tell myself that there is evidence for these illusions, but when I really analyse it, there is really no evidence for it at all. In pretty much every case, there is actually overwhelming evidence for the opposite - I am good, I am enough, I am loved. Things will probably be ok.
    Unfortunately, realising something and really feeling it, are two separate things XD

    • @Einzelgänger

  • @True38

    I understand the message in this video and that there is no point in worrying endlessly about the future. The present and what you do in the present are all that matters. However, we should never neglect or not speculate about the future. If we do, we miss out on BIG opportunities.
    To stay proactive and to make decisions today that will ensure a better future is the way to go. For example, so many jobs have and still are becoming victims of digitalization and automation. Thus, if you're a smart and future-oriented individual, you will rather go for a job like a System developer that is and will be high in demand rather than working as a Shop worker or an Accountant that will simply disappear.
    You see, as long as you plan and are constantly prepared for the future, you have really nothing to worry about. But if you just stay mindlessly in the present without any sense of direction, you are bound to fail eventually and then you'll really start worrying. Nobody knows the future for sure, but there are always trends in society that gives us a good indicator of how things are going to be, like the green shift we are now seeing.

    • @MindNow
      @MindNow 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you misunderstand the concept. Being in the present does NOT mean that u shouldn’t plan for the future. Even when u plan for the future, you are doing that in the NOW, therefore u r in the present. But ruminating on the future that causes suffering, that is the point.

    The future does exist, just in a different way that the present exists. We don't always worry about the future,we also hope and feel positive about the future. It's a place of positivity. The future is not just a place of fears and worries as this video mentions.

  •  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Although i agree we cannot let our imagination of the future destroy us, i do believe we need to allow ourselves to "worry" and use solitary moments in deep thought, alone and in our mind to sort of strategize the future. we worry because deep inside somewhere in our mind we see a warning that we should not ignore. relaxing in the present appreciating the blue sky will not be the best strategy to pave the way to the future. allow ourselves to worry, find a solution to the problem then return to the present moment.
