I was introduced to Dominion when first started gaming and overwhelmed. Now deckbuilding is my favorite so wanting to buy Dominion. Since your video, saw Reniessance and Tom V really liked a lot.

Thank you for the guide! Dark Ages does indeed sound like the next set I'm after. Played Base and Seaside a bunch already and noticed that my friendgroup prefers the slog over the well-oiled machine (thanks Ambassador and Sea Hag).
I just played the base game for the first time a few months ago and loved it so of course I went out and got the base game and went ahead and got the set of base game cards, mostly because I just liked the artwork better. Then, last month, after doing some research, I went ahead and got Intrigue and Prosperity and the few plays I've had with those sets so far have been great. I think I'll get Seaside for Christmas (or earlier if I find a good Black Friday sale) but don't think I'll go any further than that, at least not for a while. Those sets alone should give me plenty of variety for quite a while. This is a great guide to all the sets and it sounds like I got the best ones for me, even having missed this video until today.

I started with Intrigue (bought basic Domonion later in "the big box" with Properity and Alchemy). The weak card syndrome of the first sets are fixed through upgrade kits (and 2nd editions where these are incorporated) - though 2nd edition Intrigue is without base cards. Cornucopia and Guild now come in a combined box. My favorite is Guild by far. I would - now - start with Dominion base 2nd edition, I'm not sure about going right to Seaside, duration is messy to keep track of, at least make your own "Duration Mat". My recommended 2nd set would be Adventurers, that came later than this video. I recommend playing with two boxes mixed at a time only to get the best mix of variety and consistency (I also like to name these, so "Menagerie" + "Cornucopia" becomes "Agricola" - animals, farming, variety and improvements). Alchemy works best with 3-5 cards in the Kingdom which aligns well with a mix with a bigger set, it's the only set with this problem (much like FF for Marvel Legendary).
Update as far as Intrigue: 2nd Edition Intrigue is not stand-alone anymore--requires the base game; it also took out a few cards and add/changed 7 more. There's also a 2nd edition of the base Dominion game that has switched out some cards.
I very rarely comment on TH-cam videos, but I had to say I liked your review, man! :) I'm totally addicted to Carcassonne and just got it and 2 expansions + 2 mini expansions for it and the weird thing is that I've _NEVER_ liked board games or card games. Like ever. But after Carcassonne there was this spark and I then tried to google out some popular card and board games that wouldn't be "pay to win" (MTG kinda is... I used to play it) and wouldn't have endless rulebooks etc. and would have lots of expandability via expansions. And there's so much to like in Dominion. The fact that randomness and luck has such a small impact in the game makes it interesting for me. I love skill based games and that's why I stay far away from dice based games and since you pretty much decide what gets into your deck in "real time" when responding to the situation at hand ... that's what makes it beautiful. But yea just ordered the regular Dominion mainly because it was for discount. Otherwise I would've considered getting D:Intrigue first since I'm not a stranger to complex games :D And I don't believe that they even sell the package that only has the point and treasure cards here. So far my current plan is to go for Seaside if I'll like Dominion. Why? Because I want it to introduce new game mechanics and the duration thingy sounds like it'd modify things quite a bit and the more complex it gets, the more I'll like it :) More depth. But yea thanks again!

This vid helped me out a ton when getting expansions and since July 2015 now I've got 3 expansions already for it (4 games in total: Base, Prosperity, Hinterlands & Dark Ages). DA should arrive tomorrow. So thrilled! Kind of sad they don't sell Seaside here anymore. I bought the localized ones just for the sheer price point factor (much cheaper) and bilingual cards would look odd so I guess I'll have to skip one that's rated amongst the best alongside Prosperity. Cornucopia and Guilds look great too and Intrigue isn't bad either.

Thank you! So I keep all the Kingdom Cards and non-supply cards in a 5inch case it with UltraPro card pages sorted alphabetically. I then keep all the basic cards and some cardboard components in the Base Cards box.
This was very helpful. I'm planning to get this so I can play with my friends. My friends and I are just casual board gamers but hardcore video gamers. When we play either, we really like kicking each other's ass and we don't mind understanding some complexity learning a game, it's part of it I guess. BUT we also tend to be apathetic if the mechanic is too complex. That said, would I make a great decision to buy Dominion Intrigue as our first Dominion game? or should I still get the first base game?
You really can't go wrong with either. I generally recommend the base set first. It teaches the mechanics of the game without adding too much extra complexity. If, however, you and you're friends have played Deck-Building games before, then you should be fine if you want to jump right to Intrigue. Intrigue has some nastier attack cards that you and your friends might like.

If you remove the insert you can fit 4 or 5 expansions in the base box. You’d have to either bag each card or make dividers (you can find plenty of downloads for dividers on BGG). I keep all of mine in a Tracker-Keeper with Trading Card binder pages, though I’m out of room and will probably need a second one (a 6-inch can hold about 8 or 9 sets)
I absolutely loved Adventures and felt that the Events are an amazing addition to the game. While I did enjoy many things from Empires, I actually felt that the Landmarks and large influx of VP tokens made it too much of a different game. I'm still glad to have it however.
How were you going to talk about Dark Ages' features without mentioning the Shelters (substitutes for starting deck's Estates, which actually do things), or explaining what Ruins (doled out like Curses, but they're random weak Actions) are?

Newbie here. So base game have 25 cards, you use 10 per game. So if you get expansions it will be more (say 40?) and you use 10 out of 40 during game?

Personally I'd recommend skipping the first set and just pick up Intrigue.

Ι haven't yet played Dark Ages but Hinterlands doesn't seem to me complex at all. Actually i find it less complex even than Seaside or Prosperity.
