      I would say it varies from person to person, but it is a life-long practice. When we're stressed or haven't slept enough, it's easier to fall victim to our thoughts rather than taking a step back to be the observer. The idea is not to be perfect, just to be able to stay in observer mode, especially when the thoughts are negative.

      It's really hard to observe it while thinking and only I'm able to that after realizing that i was lost in thoughts
