I never thought I'd find a way to separate my thoughts. I don't sleep at night because of them and my thoughts keep me from growing my business the way I would like. Thank you Bob for this.. I can not wait to start doing this
The way I detach is this: In the Beatles song 'Rain' some of the lyrics are "That when it starts to rain, Everything's the same" and also "That when it rains and shines, It's just a state of mind". I always think of those when I'm having a bad day and it cheers me up.
Even in 2023 as a senior in high school this changed my perspective and outlook on life and the example used in this video made me understand the topic more easily! Thank you!

Yes! We should say to our thoughts: I don't like what you're saying, and therefore I don't think I'm going to bring you on as an employee, because you're already exhausting me with your negative approach! Get out!
I've been doing this technique for a couple of weeks now. I have anxiety and depression. In my experience. It really helps. When a negative thought arises, i just acknowledge and observe. In a few minutes, the negative thought goes away. However, after that, i fell a sense of emptiness. Like a void. The negative feelings are gone, but it was not replaced with joy or happiness. I feel so empty inside. Furthermore, when i do this technique, it begs the question, if i am not my thoughts, then who am i? I can only find emptiness in me.

Thanks for the "tune-up"... Sometimes when I have a thought... I laugh at it... then ask... where did that goody thought come from? Ok... i acknowledge it... then... let it go and put together a thought that is 180 degrees away from that thought that can not and will not serve me to achieve my dreams.
If I'm thinking "observe my thoughts" I still feel like I'm thinking. I don't quite understand how to observe my thoughts without thinking "observe my thoughts"
