I installed the ftpd cia for my 3ds and got through all the steps. But when I want to use the search bar in my file manager, it says "Windows cannot access this folder. Make sure that you tuped the file name correctly and that you have permission to access the folder. Details: a connection to the server could not be made." I typed the IP address in correctly as well, so I don't know whats going on.
yeah, the wifi card in the 3ds is really slow (i think it max's out at 512kb or something). ftpd is best used for small files/apps, not large transfers like games or anything
@@inconsistent_dg with a hardline connection to my router on the PC I was moving it to, I was getting in the 700s on average. Still slow af though if you're moving large files.
set a custom user and pass on the settings of the 3ds and then on your pc right click on "this pc" and select "add a network location" and then set it up using everything and it'll prompt you for the password and everything
@@SoullessSylas i did this and it did not prompt me for the password. pretty much said read only still and instead it tries to open google chrome. i might have set that as an automatic "open with this" setting.

I have a problem. When I tried using ftpd on my 3ds and tried to communicate it to my computer using file explorer, it would not allow me to see the files on my 3ds. Can this be fixed? I am using a another software, WinSCP, on my computer and it works fine but I miss using it on my file explorer. I would really appreciate it if you could help as you are the only person who knows my specific problem atm
I've also switched to WinSCP, but can still get File Explorer to work by typing in the address correctly in the title bar (e.g. `ftp://192.168.1.158:5000`).
yes, you just need an ftp app. i personally use and recommend CX File Explorer. you can go to the network tab, then create a new remote location. select ftp, type your switch ip + port, and you can use an anonymous login thanks for watching 💙
Double check that you’ve entered in your IP address correctly, along with `ftp://` before it, and `:5000` after it (e.g. ftp://192.168.1.128:5000). Your PC and Switch/3ds need to be connected to the same network, so make sure that they are. Please also make sure that you have actually opened FTPD on your 3ds/Switch, as if it’s not, it will not be open for FTP requests. Sometimes, Windows Explorer will bork itself and won't open to FTP even if the IP address is entered in correctly. In that case, you could try an alternative FTP explorer like WinSCP winscp.net/eng/download.php (which is what I've started using) or Filezilla filezilla-project.org/download.php
It's similar to windows. In FTPD, you’ll see your IP address for the device at the top, along with the port. Open dolphin, you'll see the "Network" tab on the left side of the app. Hit it, then type `ftp://:5000` in the search bar. In my case it's `ftp://10.0.0.137:5000`, for you it might be `ftp://192.168.1.200:5000` or similar.
yes. i dont know if the default file viewer has a "Network" (or similar) tab where you can put in the IP address though, like you can on Windows. if not, FileZilla has a macOS app
probably means that you're typing in the wrong IP address, not typing the full address (should be ftp://:5000) or you don't have the FTPD app open on your switch. boot into CFW, and open the homebrew menu. you have to be in the ftpd app for this to work
