If you hit your end with a lighter, it will melt it just slightly, stopping it from shedding. I feel better doing that when I make a blanket for a baby or small child ☺️
I love this type of yarn and often it is a goto for blankets and not much problem with worming and ends I weave in and then add a tiny drop of a fabric glue to keep in place which also helps with fraying on the ends
Tip i read somewhere and I use. Leave your tail super long. Purposefully pull off the fuzz on the end so you have a few inches of string. Use a drop of Dritz Fray Check or other permanent washable fabric glue where the string meets the fuzz. Dry thoroughly. Weave in the fuzzy part and then you can tie the strings to your project in somewhere not visible. Can use another drop of glue on the knot. Snip ends of string.
I've been crocheting for over 40 years..I have not used that kind of yarn yet.. but I have a new great granddaughter and I want to make her a bunting.. Thanks for the review.. I love watching you every morning.. God Bless You and your Family.
I had to chuckle last night because I was looking on Facebook Marketplace for yarns. I found that 12 skeins of Just Chenille was being sold for $50 plus shipping. So glad I saw your videos and knew it was $1 a skein at Dollar Tree.
Your video was very informative, thank you! I've never worked with Chenille yarn but I have seen projects made with it, they are so soft and cuddly. Have a wonderful day! Stay safe!
Thanks for the comparison video. Now I won't feel bad about not being able to find it in my Dollar Tree in Canada. Right now I have been homebound not out since Oct. Have a great day.
I was hoping to see more advise or alternatives to saving the ends from fraying. Would a tight knot at the end and maybe some super glue help? I feel like hot glue might be too bulky, we just need to cap the end.
My thoughts on DT yarn are if you don't want to spend more $ on a big full size skein, give the DT a try. If you really like it (and need more) go buy the more value priced bigger skein. I just love having the option available. I wish my DT had more yarn! Love your channel Miss Jennifer. I shouted you out on my latest video (not that you need a shout out from someone with just over 100 subs, but I like talking about channels I like). Thank you Miss Yarn Host!❤️
Makes me appreciate the chenille "baby" yarn I got from Aldi in the UK. I must have frogged it at least 15 times before I gave up using it on the project (I also realised it was the wrong type of yarn for the purpose) but it didn't shed a single fluff! It was easy to frog but never has my foundation chain twisted quite so much!
Good morning Jenn. What a lovely way to start a Monday! Thanks for the review. With all these negatives to the yarn, how is it that so many people make amigurumi with it. I have always held back as I dont want a gift to a child to come apart. When it's new it's one thing but what about after a few washes? I guess I should make one and wash it a bunch of times for an experiment. Thanks for visiting today. Enjoy your day☺💕
Good Morning Jen I really enjoyed this video. Still consider myself a beginner all knowledge is very helpful. It's a pretty yarn but I didn't find at my Dollar Tree. It's okay. Blessed day to you.🐦
I just have to say.... your hair looks so cute braided!! I love it. You wear it well!! Thanks for the yarn comparison. I made a blanket from Bernat baby velvet and it was a pain at some points but I loved the outcome. Don’t know how chenille compares to velvet yarn but it looks similar.
The way you save at dollar tree is by not having to pay shipping. In order to have the same number of yards as the flavors (156 yds), you would need to buy 2.4 balls of the dollar tree yarn (2.4 x 65 yds = 156) so for $2.40 (hypothetically speaking, since you can't buy .4 balls) you would have the same yardage as the $2.29 ball on Premier's website, and I'm pretty sure you'd spend more than 11 cents per ball on shipping, so if you're lucky enough to have this at your dollar tree, then grab some. I think it's an awesome deal, and I wish my dollar tree had it. I can't usually go out since I'm no longer able to drive, but I'd send my husband out after this yarn if our store had it :)
I don’t like the multicolored “flavors” so I’d be going with the solid colors. If 1 Parfait = 192 yards for $3.99. Then I’d have to get 3 of the chenille at 65 yards x 3 = 195 yards for $3. After taxes it’s still less than the Parfait solid, which I’m interested in. She told us to do the math, and DT is a better deal in my case, plus it’s within walking distance of my home so I don’t even need to spend on gas to get there, let alone any shipping costs.
Just picked up the DT chenille yesterday. I’m making a baby (oops, just heard you say you wouldn’t use for babies so maybe it will be mine!) blanket with all the colors except the black and gray. I’m knitting it and using size 11 needles. Love the spring colors and the softness. I didn’t think I would get any at the DT due to the yardage, but the colors got me.
I agree that it’s the same yarn. I passed it up at Dollar Tree because of the price per yard. I love working with Parfait yarn, but you’re right. You have to use a simple stitch and the tails peel. I used an H hook for a baby blanket because I wanted a tight weave. I’m crossing my fingers that it doesn’t worm like Bernat Velvet yarn.
Thanks for the comparison review, I've never tried either of those yarns before. I was thinking if I find some of that yarn at Dollar Tree it would be good for making amigurumi. I don't think I would ever use either for a blanket because of what you and many others have said about worming. I would be so pissed if that happened to something I made.
You're right the lower price for the multi colored yarn is better but you have shipping costs too. Guess it depends on what and how much you get. I did get some at dollar tree. My first time trying it and I was totally frustrated. I want to use up what I got. Do you think this will work as headband or scrunchie? I want to make some for Rosie for the Wings donation. Thanks for the tips.😇
I had that type of yarn, not the same brand. I was making a large project out of it and got so upset about the “worming” I threw the whole thing in the garbage 😂 not kidding. The worming didn’t start until I was half done
I'm not a big fan of the chenille blanket type yarns. Wonder how it compares to the velvet yarns? By the way, I'm sure you mentioned it but do you have a link for the hexagon blanket pattern or tutorial please?
I went to several DT looking for yarn and was disappointed. I then stopped at one near my JoAnn’s to get some flip flops and they had a craft section with Premier yarn. I was so excited I forgot the flip flops. I’m not a a fan of chenille yarn as I feel like it dries out my hands when I work with it. It may just be me. My kids love it so I do make small lap blankets when I find it on sale. It does take a large amount of room in my stash so I don’t stash it often.
Just a thought, if you're going to say I don't recommend doing a double crochet to avoid worming that's the Stitch I would show so people know what I mean
I dont mind this type of yarn, but I knit with it more than crochet.. But also, simple stitches and a "stickier" needle, like a bamboo vs slick metal.....(I think grippier would be a better word) I've never worried about making baby products with it......
Welp... 😏🙃😊, if parfait layers in cake form are anything like the skiens, I'll be trying it soon! I may have ordered 24 limeade😯🤓😉🤣, I had to! I Love free shipping 🤗 and who can pass up 459 yards for 3.33!?! Peace and Love Always, Lorri💜💙💚💛🧡❤
I love velvet/chenille/blanket yarn so this is something I’d definitely enjoy but you are right about the price and yardage. I’d get the dollar tree one for small projects for sure
I’m a nut, I really thought Parfait and just chenille was the same so I made the whole top of my pillow with the gray parfait and picked up the gray just chenille and was working it. Hubby walked in and said this doesn’t look the same. Are you going for a different look on the back, if you are you should use something a little more different he says. Well I took them out side. The colors are different. The gray parfait is more monotone in color whereas the just chenille is more of a marled gray. Then I looked at the label. Parfait is a 5, just chenille is a 6. Why didn’t I look at the label to start with. I’ll be a frogging. Live and learn!
Price is a little better for the Just Yarn for solid colors, but not so with the variegated. You would have to buy 3 of the Just Yarn to amount to 195 yards ($3 + tax) to 1 ball of the Parfait ($3.99). You're really only talking pennies in difference, but I'm sure there are far more color options with the Parfait solids than the Just Yarn.
I've used the chenille yarns... not a fan either. I learned to weave in the ends a ways... then peel off a portion of the end.. and tie it around something. Still don't like it, especially so for a baby... baby stuff requires lots of washings.. and it's just not sturdy for that at all. It's sure soft though LOL. Thanks for the comparison and for sharing!
Anything. I covered this in the video where I first showcased this yarn. I have made mittens, cowl, and scarves. It makes nice soft lightweight, but warm sweaters. And the obvious, blankets
Just call yourself the Premier yarn detective. These are totally the same yarn. I personally do not like either because frogging for me it come apart .
If you hit your end with a lighter, it will melt it just slightly, stopping it from shedding. I feel better doing that when I make a blanket for a baby or small child ☺️
The advantage to Dollar Tree yarn is you can try it without having to have a large skein. I bought a couple at Dollar Tree for scrunches.
Pro tip : you can watch movies on Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching a lot of movies during the lockdown.
@Stephen Kelvin Yup, I've been using flixzone} for since november myself =)
I love this type of yarn and often it is a goto for blankets and not much problem with worming and ends I weave in and then add a tiny drop of a fabric glue to keep in place which also helps with fraying on the ends

I just found your podcast and watched you in the closet. Thank you for the smiles and laughter you gave me. Loved it!

Hi Jennifer...I'm catching up on your videos.....💜💜
It's 5.30am Tuesday where I am and your always the first You Tuber to have posted. GREAT way to start the day. 😁
Hello Jennifer nice contrast compare video have a beautiful day
Your video was very informative, thank you! I've never worked with Chenille yarn but I have seen projects made with it, they are so soft and cuddly. Have a wonderful day! Stay safe!
Thank for this informative and straight to the point video.
Very interesting love the tip about stitched to prevent worming thank you. Stay safe love and hugs xx
Thanks for the comparison video. Now I won't feel bad about not being able to find it in my Dollar Tree in Canada. Right now I have been homebound not out since Oct. Have a great day.
Would it be a good idea to hot glue each end as you crochet and before you work in the ends?
I was hoping to see more advise or alternatives to saving the ends from fraying. Would a tight knot at the end and maybe some super glue help? I feel like hot glue might be too bulky, we just need to cap the end.

Love your channel Miss Jennifer. I shouted you out on my latest video (not that you need a shout out from someone with just over 100 subs, but I like talking about channels I like).
Thank you Miss Yarn Host!❤️
I just saw your video in my feed! I plan on watching later. I appreciate all shoutouts!
I agree with everything you said. I don't use the parfait yarn. I made one blanket as directed and it did work and it sheds.
I think they use the left over yarn from the bigger bulks they make.
I am going back have to see if it warms with knitting.
I love to use chenille for amugrumi. Thanks for a great video. It looks the same to me. Have a great day.
Thank you!!! I got some at dollar tree but haven't used it yet!!! It is pretty colors!!!
Thank you for showing this to us. I might get one from Dollar Tree and see if I Like it and then if I like it, I would order from Premier. Thank you.
I bought the Parfait yarn at Dollar Tree today for $5. Quite a deal!
Thank you for sharing, good knowledge to have, until the next time.💞💞💞
Thank you so much for the review. Haven’t tried the chenille yarns yet, so I might see if I can find them at my local DT store and give them a try!
Thank you for sharing! A visual is super helpful! I have never tried this kind of yarn! Maybe someday 😉😊
Peace and Love Always,
Lorri💜💙💚💛🧡❤
The chenille yarn is so soft but does limit you. Thanks for the information.
Thanks for the review.. Haven't tried them yet so good to know info.
Good morning Jenn. What a lovely way to start a Monday! Thanks for the review. With all these negatives to the yarn, how is it that so many people make amigurumi with it. Thanks for your diligent research
Good Morning Jen I really enjoyed this video. Still consider myself a beginner all knowledge is very helpful. It's a pretty yarn but I didn't find at my Dollar Tree. It's okay. Blessed day to you.🐦
I just brought eight of the Dollar Tree Chenille yarn
Still no yarn here at dollar tree. But thank you fir this. Info. Have a great week. God bless💕
I usually ball the yarn because of the creeping and getting tangled.
I am trying to figure out what stitch is easy to use with this dollar tree , as I have bought a few balls
I have never knit with it. But I want to.
Goodmorning Loca that you for sharing
Thanks you for sharing.
I was thinking it would be good to use to try that type of yarn or for amigurumi. I’m considering making a bumblebee with the black yellow and white.
Thanks for the info, was curious about that yarn
thank you i , going to try some
Interesting.. I have not crocheted with either one of them.
Thx for the review. 🤗💜

Have you knit with this yarn and how did you like it knitted? I'm curious how a hat would be knit with it?
I have not knit with it.

It makes really great scrunchies!
@@CinnamonStitches Thanks. I just need to use correct hook and get busy. 😇
After when my new mattress comes, I'm gonna go get some yarn to weave a sweater
I had that type of yarn, not the same brand. I was making a large project out of it and got so upset about the “worming” I threw the whole thing in the garbage 😂 not kidding. The worming didn’t start until I was half done
Thank you for this comparison. Now I know I will be getting my money's worth from Dollar Tree, if I buy this yarn.
The only problem i see with ordering from Premier Yarns is the shipping coast.
@Diane Sharpe just an fyi, Premier Yarns has free shipping at $75
I have used a similar yarn in the past. It is soft and squishy but not good for blankets because of the worming.
I'm not a big fan of the chenille blanket type yarns. Wonder how it compares to the velvet yarns?
By the way, I'm sure you mentioned it but do you have a link for the hexagon blanket pattern or tutorial please?
Hello, do you happen to have an affiliated link I can use to order a odyssey hook ?
no i do not. I wish i did.
I went to several DT looking for yarn and was disappointed. I then stopped at one near my JoAnn’s to get some flip flops and they had a craft section with Premier yarn. I love velvet/chenille/blanket yarn so this is something I’d definitely enjoy but you are right about the price and yardage. I’d get the dollar tree one for small projects for sure
Advantage is enjoying more colours without tons of stash leftovers. Colourwork becomes affordable !!

You do know that the yarn From the dollar tree is made by preimer too, it's right there on the label
you did read the title to the video right?
I like my TH-camrs feisty

There both the same...what can a person make using this type of yarn besides baby blankets ?
Anything. I covered this in the video where I first showcased this yarn. I have made mittens, cowl, and scarves. It makes nice soft lightweight, but warm sweaters. And the obvious, blankets
I made a knit blanket with Nicole chenille for grandchild. Stitches unraveled and created hole on finished project. Disappointing.
Just call yourself the Premier yarn detective. These are totally the same yarn. I personally do not like either because frogging for me it come apart .
