I really miss A. C. Moore as they weren't in our area too long. Loved their Studio Classic by Nicole yarns. Another favorite is Premier yarn. Have bought some at Dollar Tree and used for lovies. Perfect analogy is like buying samples!
Well it must be my county. I have a problem with Michael's hardly having a selection and now dollar tree does not sell any yarn. I'm in schuylkill county Pennsylvania. I commented to Michael's about their yarn selection or lack of, so maybe I should comment to dt and see if we get any 🤷♀️
I picked up a couple of the crochet hooks at my DT a month or so ago and have used them a lot and have found no issues with them. For the price I think they are great!! Of course, I have to admit I do not have any Furls hooks to compare them to. I'm waiting for my DT to get more of the yarn in stock. It's only been the last couple weeks that they have had ONE box of the Just Yarn Worsted sitting on a shelf so guess that is a start. Thank you for showing us the yarns and hooks.
Totally agree Jennifer that the flowers yarn should be made in larger schemes. I only found them once in the store and then they were gone. Wish they would release more
Thanks for the review. I bought some of the just yarn, acrylic, and the cotton yarn. Only used the cotton so far and it wasn't too bad. Made a, word escapes me, kitchen towel scarf thingy. I was experimenting.
I use a nail file blocks to sand my bamboo and the inexpensive hooks to have a smooth surface. I also create my own afghan hooks from bamboo knitting needles. If length is an issue for you buy a bamboo knitting needles set and creat your own personalized crochet hooks. Thanks for your fun videos Jen. :-)
I have had so many yarn barfs, that now I use from the outside in, and I am much happier with my yarns, they stay much neater all the way to the end of the ball!
I haven't been home in over a year because of Covid, hope to go home again next month. I have three Dollar Trees within a short distance from my house, will definitely check out the yarn (if they have any). I am not in need of knitting needles or crochet hooks, been doing both for more than 60 years. Your daughter's stitch markers are beautiful, I never thought of making my own, great idea! Have a wonderful day and stay safe!
I am sooo Happy they actually have a “craft” section now at my Dollar Tree. Mine never had yarn. Now there’s Yarn and bunches of other stuff to play with 😁! Not as much yarn as Yours but glad with what is there!! Thanks for the heads up with what they are doing. 🧶❤️☺️
I got these to try out. I will say that if you don't have the money and you really want to try it out without investing a lot, it is perfect for that. Some people just don't have the cash. I would like to add that sometimes when you use the hook give them a wash, dry and after you use it, it does get smoother. I find that even with the susan bates and the boyds.
Always like it when you do a review of yarn and hooks or needles. Thank you for that Jennifer. As for yarn at dollar tree stores...not happening at the one in our town. But i keep hoping😊. Have a lovely Friday and weekend. Be well and stay safe. God bless💕.
Thank you so much for doing this review. I have seen that yarn at the dollar tree and was super hesitant about buying any but I think I might buy some now.
Thank you for the review. I was able to see the divits in the CS hooks all along the hook shaft. I have bought and used the Crafters yarn and I like it and the premier yarn too.
I’ve used the Dollar Tree Hooks. ‘Sand’ it with crumbled up aluminum foil and then wax paper and that snagging will improve. They are great to travel with or to have in a pinch or give to a kid to learn.
If it's rough can file it with a metal finger nail file and the rub with a fabric sheet. My dollar tree only has plastic crochet hooks. And not much yarn yet.It seems like on some of the yarns the more dye it needs is more rough. Thanks for sharing with ❤us.Be safe.
I found the everyday cotton premier yarn at one DT near me. I love using the Premier Just Yarn worsted and chunky yarns! And I am into the Susan Bates hooks because of how it's hook is. I'm very particular about the hook shape. No Boye brands they feel wonky to me. But I'm crocheting more than 2 hours a day since I do orders.
Great review!!! I love seeing how yarn works up on the hook. To me, a review has got to be more than "it's squishy and soft". Thanks for the all of the info on the yarns and hooks!
Great comparison video!☺ I love how much yarn and craft supplies my Dollar Tree has now. 😍 I'm always going there to see what new goodies I can find. I got myself some of the plastic and the aluminum hooks to have as backups and for emergencies. I picked through all of them to find the smoothest 😆. Even so, if they get snaggy, I'll file them a tiny bit, and then smooth them out with wax paper.
Thanks for the review Jennifer. I saw those last time I was in Dollar Tree and had just bought some others from Joanns. Glad I passed on them. Thanks for all your info.
Thank you for this comparison. I know not to buy my hooks there, but I love the yarn. I've made a few things that come out very soft after a gentle wash and flat dry. :)
Thanks for making the comparison. The metal hook with a handle from dollar tree was my first hook with a handle like that and it really kickstarted my crocheting hobby. I got Clover Amour hooks for Christmas but I love how budget friendly and comfy in the hand the dollar tree one is for a beginner! Love the yarn review too!
Thank you for doing the comparisons! I know at Christmas time I use the Just Yarn bulky for hats for the family and truly enjoyed it. I do really like the flowers too, glad I grabbed all the skeins my store had. Knit Picks has a nice set of hooks too.
Thanks for the yarn and hook review. My dollar tree didn't have the crafters section last I checked but I'm going to check again soon. Have a wonderful weekend 🙂💜
I still love and use the old fashioned aluminium hooks. And that love has been going on for more than 50 years now. Thank you for your review, Jennifer. ♥ Smooth the hook with the fine side of a nail file. Then rub it with wax paper.
A few months ago I picked up some of the Just Yarn and Just Cotton at the Dollar Tree. So far I have only used some of the Just Yarn to knit my daughter some leg warmers. It isn't bad at all and will be perfect for making hats and gloves for the kids who keep losing them. The reason we have to deal with yarn barf is lazy manufacturers. 35 years ago I don't remember ever having the problem we have today because the manufacturers put arrows on the label of which end to pull from and many times had the end of the yarn peeking out. I mostly use hanks today so don't have to deal with a lot of barf.
I bought the cotton recently. Made a mosaic dishcloth. I have to check different Dollar Tree stores, because they don't all carry yarn or have different ones.
I bought the Premier Just Yarn at my Dollar Tree. I’ve made baby blankets with it. I really like it. I was curious about the hooks so I’m glad you did a review on them.
You should spend the money and get a furls hook . They really are a good hook . I believe they are having a sale this month but don't quote me. They do them for crafters months
Jennifer thank you so much for this review. I guess with the hooks you get what you pay for vs spending a little bit more and being satisfied with other hooks.
I'm so glad you reviewed the crafters square yarn. I was wondering if it was worth it. I have bought the just yarn and since I have never seen hooks at my dollar tree I never bought any. Good review and I was able to purchase some of that flower yarn. I got what I could. Yes I hope they release more of that too..
"YARN BARF" oh my goodness, I've been saying that for years. I've never heard anyone else use that term. Just a secret...I have a bunch of "yarn barf" in my basement. Old, tangled up with lots of different yarns because of poor storage practices. Do you think I could throw it away? Nope. I will sit for hours untangling it. What? I have nothing better to do? What a goof!
Thanks for the review. I'm looking for ways to smooth out those hooks. Mine catch a bit too but I want to really like them. I love the yarns from Dollar Tree too.
I have a thing for Susan Bates hooks, but the Dollar Tree yarn I can work with. So, if your a set of hooks and knitting needles already they are pretty good. Especially with what is going on with what is going on. I particularly stay away from Walmart just because I don't like crowds. That's why I work from home with my fiber art business.
I just wanted to quickly say I love you, I love your videos and I think your awesome all around. I watch your videos but I don't always have time to comment but Im trying to make a bigger effort as I heard something about youtubers not getting credit if we dont comment not sure how true but I want you to get credit for everything and more because you deserve it. God Bless You and Your Family
I appreciate your doing this comparison. You can clearly see the struggle with the Dollar Tree hook. Amazing the Crafters Square is a lot of yarn for a buck!
I love the DT Premier Just Yarn and Cotton. The Flowers 🌺 is my fave, but only found it once. I’m so glad that you love Furls! I’m totally a Furls girl too and so many folks trash them. To each their own.
I really like them. I am using the hooks as my spare hooks(i am 58 have be crocheting since I was 4)that's what I told myself!!LOL They are nice hooks, I can't use the plastic ones never could, I do not crochet tight but I can snap those like toothpicks. Medical or bamboo nothing fancy. I don't any Furls, I do have some Clover hooks. Now my knitting needles Chiagoo all day long! Interchangeable full set and mini set. Strange?!
Hello Jennifer, thank you for this episode,I made a shawl with a three weight yarn like the content creator did but not all are equal or work some are similar some not so much but it is up to us as creators to see thank you again🧶🤗 .
Here in Germany we have good quality wolle at our euro shops. I use a full metal hooks but my favourite hooks are hardwood(i wish them for my birthday and Christmas)
On the rough hooks get a piece of fine sandpaper and just lightly go over it. I prefer clovers or furl. Furls are heavy at times for me. So I switch off and on.
I love the dollar tree yarn I am using it for my scrap blanket since Iran no out of scrap balls and I love it and it works for the blanket and it’s soft ! The hooks are a hit in miss with me there okay. But good for extra and to put in the project bags for extra. And I love there beads also I have made stitch markers also and there really nice beads to work with!
Thank you for the review! I think if you have a kid with a small allowance and they want to try crochet, they can have their own hook. Then, they can save up for the set.
Thank you Jenn for the review on Dollar Tree hooks and yarn. I guess Im old fashioned but I only own 1 'ergonomic' hook and I dont like it. I much prefer Boye hooks to Susan Bates as well. I love the smoothness of Boye hooks andcI dont like the sharpness of the heads of Bate hooks. I find that Bates hooks are worse for splitting yarn. Give me a good ol' Boye hook, every time! Thanks again Jenn!🧶💗
Oh em gee. My 14 year old teenage mind!! Thanks for the comparison. I have that Rose color, cream, country blue, and another color?? I want to make a scrap type blanket with it. I like the yarn. Thank you for this great review. I am hoping to go to my dollar tree soon, but I know our prices will be SO much different here in Canada - if we even get that yarn here. Lots of love and yarny hugs 💓
No Dollar Tree in Hawai'i. I did get the Boye hook when in started making amigurumi since I didn't have a Furls in the size but I love my Furls odysseys. Expensive, yes, but so worth it.
I keep forgetting to go to the dollar tree🤦♀️. It's a 25 minute drive for me.. I live in the country😂. The only reason I go into town is to go to the bank.
I had a hook that snagged everything after my cat chewed it. I used some sandpaper on it and then a baby wipe to clean it after. Worked like a charm.
Thank you for making this video. This opens the craft up to so many more people. I wish they had this option 50 years ago!
I really miss A. C. Moore as they weren't in our area too long. Loved their Studio Classic by Nicole yarns. Another favorite is Premier yarn. Have bought some at Dollar Tree and used for lovies. Perfect analogy is like buying samples!
I keep hoping the NS will show up somewhere
Also dollar tree will also carrying red heart yarn too. They have added these new craft items to 7,500 of their stores nationwide !!
Oh wow, canadian dollar trees need to catch up, we usually have the weird yarn that nobody wants lol
Red heart yarn when ? And premiere haven't seen none yet I my area
I read on their website that they would be putting Red Heart yarn in 7500 stores.......they didn’t say when
Hopefully in my part on indiana I can go to 6 of them close by me and I having been going 2 x a week looking no luck yet
Well it must be my county. I have a problem with Michael's hardly having a selection and now dollar tree does not sell any yarn. I'm in schuylkill county Pennsylvania. I commented to Michael's about their yarn selection or lack of, so maybe I should comment to dt and see if we get any 🤷♀️
You can take one of the metal Emery boards and sand the hook a bit before using the wax paper on them.
Thank you for taking the time to compare the yarn and hooks💖
I love the Premier just yarn worsted. I have made over 50 hats for the homeless with this yarn. It is so soft.
I've been buying their yarn since Jan. I have zero complaints. I haven't seen hooks. Yet.
Thank you for the contrast and comparison. Very informative and helpful.
This video of Dollar Tree's yarn is just what I was looking for! Thank You.
I picked up a couple of the crochet hooks at my DT a month or so ago and have used them a lot and have found no issues with them. For the price I think they are great!! I made a child’s hat out of the Premier Flowers along with two baby sweaters. They came out great!
I also like their plastic hooks. Two different sizes in the package.
I just bought the crafter square from the dollar tree. Thank you for the review

Thank you Jennifer for comparing these products and sharing with us. I Appreciate all you do. Have a great day.
Thank you so much for doing this review. I have seen that yarn at the dollar tree and was super hesitant about buying any but I think I might buy some now.
They said on there website that they would be carrying Lionbrand too!!
Can you order yarn from there website
Thank you for this video. I just found some at my dollar tree. I'm using the yarn to make scarves and hats to donate.
Thank you for the review. I was able to see the divits in the CS hooks all along the hook shaft. I have bought and used the Crafters yarn and I like it and the premier yarn too.

Yay! I bought some of the flowers yarn on a whim! It looks so pretty on that baby blanket!

Yarn barf! Love that shade too. I'm gonna get some.

Surprisingly I love my Dollar Tree hooks.
As a beginner, I've been loving my dollar tree 😻
Me too
Thanks for the yarn and hook review. My dollar tree didn't have the crafters section last I checked but I'm going to check again soon. Have a wonderful weekend 🙂💜

I'm making a C2C throw with the JUST YARN..I think it's great! The hooks aren't bad for a buck!
I really love the all aluminum hooks, I inherited some from my grandma and love them, I need more lol
I have a lot from my mother and grandmother. The ones from my grandmother are stainless steel not the aluminum
Thank you so much for measuring the hook. I need 6" long hooks because the shorter hooks hit my hand in the palm and pain makes me stop crocheting.
You should spend the money and get a furls hook . They really are a good hook . I believe they are having a sale this month but don't quote me. They do them for crafters months
Jennifer thank you so much for this review. I guess with the hooks you get what you pay for vs spending a little bit more and being satisfied with other hooks.

I hold my hooks like a pen....thanks for the comparison good info
I also am a pencil hook holder.
"YARN BARF" oh my goodness, I've been saying that for years. I've never heard anyone else use that term. Just a secret...I have a bunch of "yarn barf" in my basement. I named my TH-cam channel "Yarn Barf"!! LOL!!
Thanks for the review. I'm looking for ways to smooth out those hooks. Mine catch a bit too but I want to really like them. I love the yarns from Dollar Tree too.

Thanks for the review. I agree, the hooks are okay. The Premier yarn is awesome.
There's a lot of people looking for the flowers on marketplace and other places on Facebook it's a very popular new yarn love your review
I appreciate your doing this comparison. You can clearly see the struggle with the Dollar Tree hook. Amazing the Crafters Square is a lot of yarn for a buck!
I love the shawl behind you, the green one my favourite color😘
I have to try the crafters secret. I did not like the hooks either but for a dollar it good to keep in the car.
I agree with you I got two of the hooks they are ok hooks but not as smooth as other brands, thanks for your reviews 👍
I used the Just Yarn on an Easter egg garland-it was nice to have some small balls with pastel colors. Good yarn, I agree.
personally...I really enjoy the $1.25 store yarn. Especially the tweets. it seems stretchy and I like that!
I love the DT Premier Just Yarn and Cotton. The Flowers 🌺 is my fave, but only found it once. I’m so glad that you love Furls! I’m totally a Furls girl too and so many folks trash them. To each their own.
Thank you so much for the comparison. Really appreciate it
Very good info. I do love my Dollar tree.
I really like them. Yes you are really doing a great job ! I am going to try dollar store here in Indiana
Hello Jennifer, thank you for this episode,I made a shawl with a three weight yarn like the content creator did but not all are equal or work some are similar some not so much but it is up to us as creators to see thank you again🧶🤗 .
WOW...I really like your hook case! Where can I get one?
Thanks Jennifer!! I just wish my Dollar tree would get more yarn!! 😊
I put myself on a yarn ban until I finish a ball at least. I love looking at yarn though

Really enjoyed the reviews on the dollar tree items. It's good to know if you find them at your location before you buy. Blessed day to you.🐦
I love the dollar tree yarn I am using it for my scrap blanket since Iran no out of scrap balls and I love it and it works for the blanket and it’s soft ! Thanks for the hook comparison. I will stick with my Clover. I love Premier yarn. Thanks for the comparisons.
I'll have to hit up the GOOD dollar tree. We have like 10
Thank you for the review! I think if you have a kid with a small allowance and they want to try crochet, they can have their own hook. Then, they can save up for the set.
And
I am making a mile a minute and I have enjoyed buying this dollar tree yarn it is perfect for making my Center portion of my mile-a-minute
My DT didn't have any yarn left the last time I went. They had 1 empty box they need to get some note in.
Oh em gee. My 14 year old teenage mind!!
Thanks for the comparison.
I have that Rose color, cream, country blue, and another color?? I want to make a scrap type blanket with it. I like the yarn. I had some of the chunky as well, and I made a squishy St Paddy’s day cowl. I am a clover amour gal, I will one day try the Furls.
I love the green hat I see in the background. Could you share & show how you made that. I love it! In fact, I love all your videos. So easy to follow.
The hat on Brunhilde (the mannequin)? It's a pattern from yarnspirations for a leprechaun hat
I absolutely loved my Dollar Tree hooks. There was some sticky stuff on them that I just had to clean off.
That was a nice little review. Thank you, Jennifer!
Thank you for this great review. I am hoping to go to my dollar tree soon, but I know our prices will be SO much different here in Canada - if we even get that yarn here. Lots of love and yarny hugs 💓
I was lucky and got flower yarn...still deciding what to do with it 😁
I haven't found the flower ones, in stores or online. They were online at first but are gone now
Thank you for the review!
Thanks for sharing Jennifer!
No Dollar Tree in Hawai'i. I did get the Boye hook when in started making amigurumi since I didn't have a Furls in the size but I love my Furls odysseys. Expensive, yes, but so worth it.
I'm tunisian crocheting something, but I don't know what it is going to be yet
Thank you Jennifer 😊 like the $store yarn also.🙃
I keep forgetting to go to the dollar tree🤦♀️. It's a 25 minute drive for me.. I live in the country😂. The only reason I go into town is to go to the bank.
I HAVE PURCHASED BOTH YARNS AND HOOKS
