    Finally a simple version of how to make it! My Lao family never taught me how to make it even when I asked them to teach me lol. It was always already made when I go to maetao's house. Thanks! New sub! ດີຫຼາຍ!

    I just discovered your video because I love khao poon, as a child. But it is the one thing that I don't know how to make. & your recipe really stood out to me (in a good way) I've never seen anyone mix the chicken in with the paste then added the chicken broth to the paste. I always see ppl add the paste to the broth instead. I thought that was really smart. I'm going to try that next time I make it.

    My mom make it so amazingly delicious. We Hmong love eating it. Not all do, because their more into pho. I love eating Khao Poon a bit more than Pho. We Asians love our noodle soup or just soup in general. I use want it when I our kitchen smelled like curry, even there were none, but not anymore. I just love that curry and coconut flavor very much. Rice noodles are amazing. Watch these khao poon videos make me want some so much fright now. Just I don’t how make and we don’t have all the ingredients right now. I love my curry quite sour with hits of spice. I don’t like it sweet or fishy. It depends if the fishy flavor not over powering, I enjoy still. Ik Laos or maybe even Thai people love fishy Khao Poon. We Hmong people like with chicken mostly, or maybe with other bird meat, but mainly chicken. Some like with quail eggs in theirs, but not me at all. I love it with bunch of bamboo and many veggies in it.

    The great basic soup I love it a good idea to serve the peppers on the side
    they can be hot for certain people
    as far as other ingredients missing as other people stated I think they would not know what you are talking about, people who do will just use them
    as I would.
    If I ever used your soup on my menu I will definitely describe it as House of X Tia Loa Food
    to give you the credit.

    • @HouseofXTia
      @HouseofXTia  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +aimee vang hi! i don't have a video on how to prep the slaw but it's pretty easy: thinly slice the cabbage, chop cilantro, tear off mint leaves, add bean sprouts and everything to a bowl. to prep the banana blossom: fill a bowl with cold water and add 1 tsp salt or 1 tablespoon lime juice, set aside. tear off the outer shell of the blossom, remove the stem and slice thinly, add the slices to the bowl of water to prevent from browning. once you're finished, you can strain and add it to the rest of the slaw :)

      shrimp paste is just a dipping condiment, def an acquired taste. it doesn't enhance the curry or anything 🙂

    Over the years, I have developed a serious love for southeast Asian food, and I *really* want to try khao pun, since it has been noted (at least in "Southeast Asian Food" by Rosemary Brissenden...I LOVE that book) cookbook as the national dish of Laos. I have never had Lao food, and Lao food seems a bit under-represented in her book, and I have learned about SO many other Lao dishes (not described in her awesome book) through your channel that I definitely want to try and make one day! I have one question that is driving me CRAZY, though. I am really looking around everywhere for an awesome mortar and pestle, and yours looks like what I consider my current ideal. Where did you get it? Do you know a brand/manufacturer that makes exactly THAT type? If so, I'd greatly appreciate a link! I've found some similar ones, but yours look like EXACTLY what I'm looking for. Please help, and also please keep making your awesome videos! You definitely seem like a beautiful person, both inside and out, and I appreciate your newfound love for your culture and its cuisine, and thank you for sharing that enthusiasm (and the deliciousness) with the world! :D

      It's my most popular recipe! I hope you get a chance to try and please tag me on ig/fb if you post a pic! Thank you for sharing that bit about Rosemary Brissenden. Lao Food has always been under-represented and hidden behind the shadows of Thai Cuisine. The goal with my social pages is to introduce people to the food, culture and people, and to also keep the recipes alive for this gen and the ones to follow. Have a great weekend and thanks again for your comment!

    Hey Tia, I am making a curry noodle soup (essentially trying to do your kapoon) for one of my coworkers/friends ( this is supposed to be for next week so I have some time lol) - she has never had any kind of curry flavored or southeast Asian flavored food (and on a side note I found that same Thai noodle sauce you mentioned at my local Asian market - excited to try it!) and was really wondering how that would effect the flavor. I am using some maesri panang paste which I have used before ( I really like the flavor). Will that sauce just enhance the general curry flavor? If so, I am definitely adding it! Anyway, I am looking to follow your general instructions for a soup because A) looks amazing, and B) look super practical once you are used to cooking legit SEA recipes. In any case - thanks for your awesome recipes!

    • @HouseofXTia
      @HouseofXTia  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +MrDFC1111 hello! i think the thai noodle sauce def enhances the flavor. gives it this mildly sweet taste. keep in mind the curry paste can be added and adjusted to your taste. i find that the red curry paste can be a bit too strong so that's why I also like to combine it with the thai noodle sauce. hope that helps! good luck!

      Hey Tia! I should have responded months ago, but I'm a terrible person. I did grab that sweet Thai noodle sauce (We have a pretty well stocked giant Asian market in Greensboro). She loved it and I did as well; thanks for the awesome recipe!

    Can you jus use the thai noodles sauce or does it have to be the sweet kind ?

    • @HouseofXTia
      @HouseofXTia  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      you don't need to add an additional thai sauce in there. the curry is good with just the red curry sauce which is primarily what is needed :)
