If you go back to the part of the video, where he removed the IP address and told the DHCP to issue the client an IP address is an option, and yes you can use the mac-address to secure the same IP.

so what should you do to your router so its not also running DHCP? i guess im confused on how that works. you have a modem, that connects to a router, that connects to a switch, that has the server on it. so you would configure the router to only output a single ip address for the dhcp server, and all other devices, when connected, would look at it rather then the router for an ip address?

what is the differences ? Setting the
SCOPE in DHCP through ADMINISTRATIVE tools , is it same with the DHCP configs in the Router ? im asking this because somebody asked me to do this :
"You need this machine to always be reachable on the same IP address on the local network. It is important that it does not conflict with existing addresses or addresses
being automatically assigned by the DHCP server. Assign the machine a static ip not a part of the network's DHCP pool.
i once , did this config in Router setting , then Set a Static IP manually in Adapter setting , is it right ?

My ip DNS server always turn to 8.8.8.8 automaticly different from my original setting after a few moment. Before this it is ok run smoothly. Why it could happen?
important question here, is the client should be joined to the domain first? or not necessarily? hopefully some one will answer

hi sachin i am using vmware 12 version and here i have installed window 2012 and 2clients machices but in network adaptor section i have chooses host. option not bridge. So my querry is will i able to provide my clients in vm machine auto ip's via dhcp or not. because in vm ware i have choosen network card host not bridge..

hey, dhcp is known to reassign (I guess not at all times) a different IP if the device/computer/etc. reconnects, do you know if a windows dhcp would have a feature to reserve that same IP for that device ( I guess it could use its mac address) so the same ip would get assigned again?
yes there is a configuration for reserving the IP address in the DHCP manager
In the add roles and features wizard , it shows server1 with 192.168.1.100 ip address. I want to know from where did you get this ipaddress. pl explain if possible.

Hi sir in my office there r 8 laptops connected through wifi they work for 2 3 hours perfectly after that few of them disconnect and don't reconnect again. But i assigned in scope range 192.168.10.230 to 254.. Which means i should get 192.168.10.230 to 254 .. but i am getting 192.168.6.229 which is different network. kindly help me with this sir. thank you in advance !

It's not working in my pc. I am using 2 pces. one as server and another as client . both are connected through a cable. when I check the client computer it shows this ip 169.254.37.132 which the ip address of my server. I had configured the dhcp in this range 192.168.2.100
Hi, after installing dhcp option . Still i am getting red colour marks on the ipv4 and ipv6 options.
+Jatin Prasad basically if we are getting a red colour cross mark on the LAN adaptor that means the LAN adaptor is not connected check if the wire is properly connected to the computer or if it is a virtual machine check whether the virtual machine is connected

i did exactly the same you did but my client won't get the right IP adres from the DHCP. My client gets 192.168.168.144 all the time... i have already restarted and refreshed everything but still won't help... im using VMWare
