🏴 Good evening folks, I hope your Thursday is going well ☺️👍 thanks for joining me for tonight’s recipe video…I’ll be down in the comments in about an hour 🙃👇🏴
I remember pressure cookers from the 1970s. They were not fancy like todays. It was just a very strong pot with a lid that twisted on to lock in place and with a small safety valve on top. They worked great BUT you really had to watch that valve, as at times they did not work and your pressure cooker exploded, with the lid flying up hitting your ceiling. At the time, if you visited someone's kitchen and found a round stain above the stove, you knew their pressure blew it's top. They worked and made cheap meat super tender, like a crock pot but with much less time.
I have the Instant Pot, which is one of the most popular brands of pressure cookers here in Canada. I'd love to see some new ideas from you.😊 I've made stew, soup. broccoli mac and cheese. Cheryl, I see you buy yogurt every week - I make yogurt every week in my Instant Pot. We mix in low sugar jam or fresh/frozen fruit, sometimes honey. I strain it if I want Greek yogurt.
Hope you find your Cosori as useful as I find my Instant Pot. They're a big improvement on the old pressure cookers aren't they? - Though I do miss watching my dad shoot peas onto the kitchen ceiling when he released the steam too quick!
I have the Cosori Dual Blaze air fryer and I can thoroughly recommend it, it heats from top and bottom meaning everything is well cooked and no more shaking the chips! That stew looks lovely!
It really great that you finally got yourself one of these pressure cookers. these are fantastic for doing a variety of dishes and its especially great for making your own bone broths. I am eagerly looking forward to see all the fantastic dishes you will make with it. as for your beef stew if you find your broth a bit watery the best way to thicken it up is bay adding a few spoonfuls of Powdered instant Mash Potato like Smash until you reach the thickness desired.
Cheryl, looks amazing & delicious and so quick to cook. I've never used a pressure cooker, but I'm guessing the one thing it has in common with a slow cooker, is that you need far less liquid than you think, as most of it doesn't escape. Anyone out there with more experience, please feel free to pass on your tips and tricks! 🙂😋😎❤
Hi Cheryl. I love your videos I am from Florida and I went to Scotland a few years ago and loved everything about it. I have an insta pot pressure cooker and I love it. I've cooked everything from beans to even corned beef and cabbage. If you ever need recipes there is a you tube channel called pressure luck that got me into using mine. The guy on that channel even has cookbooks. Have fun with it.
Like you I've always had a fear of pressure cookers. But I took the plunge and bought the Cosori a few weeks ago and I love it. Pretty foolproof really. 😁
I have been using for 5 years a pressure cooker from Crock-Pot. Now i have two, I bought another one from Tefal One Pot, and I use both at the same time. I can't see my life without them. It makes cooking a lot easier. Love them.
I've used a pressure cooker for years and cook everything with it. My one is old and very basic, it has just a mechanical timer. No bells and whistles like your one! Have fun with your new cooker!
Try it for your mashed potatoes. Add the cut potatoes one cup of water and cook on high for 8 minutes. Do a quick release, drain, then mash as usual. Perfect when the weather is hot and you don't want to heat up the kitchen! Enjoy playing around with your new toy!
Yikes... I have to admit, I was so intimidated by these pressure cookers that mine sat on a corner of my counter for almost a year until I finally just donated it. (And it was a gift to me, the best and most expensive cooker made). Now after watching you and your easy sensibility with your first time, I’m kicking myself. Thinking about maybe purchasing one now... definitely a Cosori. Thanks for your tutelage. You’re just such a lovely person in so many ways. And of course... thanks for your programs. I’m making Tuscan chicken (your recipe, of course) for a dinner-party on Sunday. Thanks in advance for the easy win. I promise I’ll give you the credit for any compliments I get.
If it helps, I and many in my family were nervous too. But i bought one (instant pot, at the time there wasn't much else) because of all the safety back ups to prevent disaster. It will still scare the pants off you the first time you use it, but then it's all good! The ability to take a pre-chopped stew from the freezer and have it on the table in 2 hours has been a life saver for me. I just can't seem to get the stew the right consistency so I'm excited to try this version
Apparently you can put it back on the sautè mode for a short while and stir to thicken any gravy or sauce. I've seen other UK based vloggers doing it x
i make a chicken "risotstew " using risotto rice in the mix thickens up a good un , very tasty use veggies you have nice on any night , plenty left over for the next day or freezer
I live on my own, so I don't have a slow cooker nor could I afford a pressure cooker. Plus I don't have the space for either anyway, so a small Pyrex oven dish would have to suffice 😏.
Hi just made this stew today using my pressure cooker. Delicious. Loved it. Will definitely be a family favourite. Lookjng forward to many more recipes.Thanks.
That was a good demo Cheryl. I have seen this particular pressure cooker demo already on you tube ( Vicki foulger also did a good demo) but it is nice to see a few people's opinions of it. It does look a really good appliance, & I.must admit a pressure cooker was something I hadn't really thought of buying 1 before. Like you I waa a bit weary of using 1, but this 1 looks great & your stew delicious. Might have a think about getting 1.
Hi, I have just found your channel, you made everything look simple. I have recently bought a cosori pressure cooker but when I line up the 2 orange dots and close to seal, I find the lid still rattles and can be jiggled about. Does this happen with yours? I am not sure if the pot only fully seals once pressure builds up. Would love your feedback
looks good and enjoy your videos. its just a shame these companies assume everyone is catering for a family of 20 rather than 2-3 people. i guess theres no money in it but not all of us like the ding of the microwave.
Hi Cheryl I have got a Ninja Foodi and I love it, it’s an all in one machine just like yours. Dried pasta only takes 0 minutes to cook (on the pressure cook function) it’s brill! Can’t wait to see what you come up with xxx
A warning about making curry in a pressure cooker. The scent permeates the silicone seal. Make sure you have a separate seal just for curry, or everything will smell like curry.
That sounds like a good tip, thanks for sharing Catherine.👍 Much as I adore my curries, you don’t always want the smell permeating throughout the house, especially if you are cooking more delicate foods. 😊
Your stew looks iddentical to mine Cheryl - with 2 exceptions. First I dont sear my beef at start, as I find it goes very tough, so I just cover with water and simmwr slowly. Secondky I dont use gravy, I use oxtail soup which I highly reccomend it guves a wonderful beef flavours. Oh and I cook my spuds seoerately as I find that cooking them in the stew makes them soak up a lit of liquid!! Your stew has given me notions now for the weekend - I'll have to pop to the butchers tomorrow 😂😋
@@sapphire22011 I will sear steaks/chops/chicken in a pan to caramelize it. Which can add flavour but of course, you can't do it for to long. With a steak you want the outside with a brown crust, and the inside nice and red and juicy. Anything more then that dries the meat out and makes it tough. Many, including big name chefs caramelize meat before the crock pot or pressure cooker, more out of habit I think. Thinking it will add flavour to the meat, which is not the case as the long simmering process in a sauce/broth will undo that flavouring as the meat gains the flavour of the sauce/broth and spices added to the pots. Plus as for texture from searing... again that defeats the reason for using a crockpot/pressure cooker, where you are going for melt in your mouth tender.
I’ve been tempted to get one for ages. Did 30 mins really make the beef as tender as say many hours slow cooking? Oh and off topic but you should be a hand model lol
Hi Cheryl and everyone else, just a quick question about adding or dusting meat in flour before pressure cooking. I've used the stove top type pressure cookers but i once dusted cubed meat and thought it would thicken as it steamed but the flour turned into a curds type sticky mess. Any pointers? Cheers DougT
@@LindaC616 thanks Linda. That's what I normally do but I wanted to use flour thickener throughout the pressure steaming time. I use an aluminium pressure cooker directly on the electric stove top and it didn't work like it does in an oven slow casserole. It must be the steam 'curdling' the flour. Thanks for your help. DougT
Can anyone who has used both this and the stovetop models (recent ones, not ancient) tell us which you prefer and why? I have heard some people say that these ones take longer to come up to pressure and cook.

I couldn’t remember how to fix a stew. Thanks for the information. I appreciate it. Yummmm❤🎉😊
Nice video! Word of warning-it’s best not to add any flour or thickener before pressure cooking as it can burn. Add it at the end instead 👍

I have an Instant Pot and I love it. TY for sharing your recipe. Get a silicone pinch grip to hold the rim of the inner pot when you stir. Love ya.

A beef stew in 30 minutes?!? Wow! Looks delicious as if it cooked low and slow on top of the stove. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
They have a clip you can buy that holds the cooking pan in place while you're stirring.
Quite the fancy pressure cooker! I just barely got my air fryer…no more counter space for another goodie!

I get a better thickness by flouring & seasoning the beef before I put it in the pan to saute.
