I live in Belize Central America. I live among the Mayans who mostly eat rice and beans, chicken. They cook on wood fires and in hand made earthen stoves. I introduced this stew to my workers, as I made a rather large pot of it and was in no way to eat it all myself. Apparently, my stew was taken to several people in the village to feed their families. The response was crazy! I am currently making a pot four times the size you made of stew to take to the village. They have never had Beef Stew before. Some suggestions; the beef was crowded in the pan and as a result it was more steamed than seared as you can see from the large amount of water she ended up with in the pan. Use only the stew pot; sear the meat in batches and remove to a plate. Then cook the mirepoix in the stew pot but add generous amount of tomato paste when it is nearly cooked which adds a nice carmelization. Deglaze the pot with wine. Easy on the worcestershire. No sugar needed.
@@Oscarnodwannabe It's interesting that she uses either tri-tip or 'roast' whatever that means. Probably referring to chuck. Tri-tip doesn't make sense because you are making stew not steak. If you used tri-tip it may be tender after searing, but what's the point? You're going to cook for a long time, so the tri-tip will go from tender to tough (it's complicated), back to tender. And chuck costs less.

Interesting. Here in South Africa my aunt usually does that. She mixes the beef and potatoes in a dry flour mixture, then its browned in oil and simmered into a beautiful thick stew

I have made your wonderful soup many times for myself, family and friends. Lately I’ve been learning to make pot pies, wanting to master the art of making pie crusts. After making several chicken pot pies, I wanted to make a beef pot pie so I used your soup recipe, thickened it up so it was more a gravy consistency, and put it in pot pies. So good!!
@@TatyanasEverydayFood I grew up in the 60’s and 70’s and ate lots of pot pies!! and loved them. You could get 4 for a dollar and sometimes on sale 10 cents a piece. I liked the little pies in the aluminum pie pans with plenty of gravy to soak into the pie crusts!

Hi @petef7819 I was wondering if I cook the meat first before putting everything into the crockpot ? Can you please tell me how you do this recipe in the crockpot?
I finally got round to making this today - Been wanting to for the past week. Wow, it was absolutely delicious. Great recipe. I served it with warm, freshly baked bread rolls and it was perfection. I had a second bowl, just now. Personally, I like my stew a little thicker, so I stirred in some potato starch at the end.
Gonna give this recipe a go on Thursday making it for my dad and boyfriend lol wish me luck I will be sure to fill you in on how it turns out!!!!!! Thank you for being so specific about timing etc.
All I can say is, WOW! This recipe is phenomenal to say the least. Made this tonight and it’s just on a whole different level of taste sensation! The Cabernet red wine really adds the flavor. Thank you so much for the recipe because I’ll be making it often!

This is hands down the tastiest stew so far that we made at home. Absolutely DELICIOUS!!!! Thank you! As we had young children enjoying the stew, we replaced the wine with pure apple juice with some vinegar and it came out just as delicious. Anyone that has not tried it, definitely give this a go!
That's what I do!!! I add a little flour to the beef broth as well before I pour it into the pot and it comes out way thicker than the one in the pic! This one looks more like a "soup" than a stew. I also use way less salt.
@@karencalifano6132 Same here. Too much salt in stew will make meat tougher and take longer to tenderize and breakdown. You can always add more salt and pepper when serving it up. Some homemade Italian bread goes well with stew also.

I made this yesterday and it’s worth it!! Best stew I’ve ever had! I followed everything right up to the cooking on the stove top. I put everything into my slow cooker for 9hrs on medium! Amazing! Thank you for sharing your recipe!!
5:10 adding the potatoes to a low simmering pot will be ready to eat in 20 minutes? How about an hour or two? I'm Irish, I know my potatoes. Other than that detail, great recipe. You can boil potatoes in 20 minutes and then add them to your stew but to cook the potatoes in a simmering pot will take MUCH longer. EDIT: I put a stew on the stove simmering at 8PM tonight, it is currently 10PM and the potatoes are not yet ready.
I tried this recipe to the very last ingredient today and I have to tell you; I’ve never made a beef stew with so much flavor in all my years of cooking. Absolutely A GAME CHANGER!!!
Pro tip, if you're going to deglaze a pan. Use red wine. At least with red beef, compliments it very well. It will also remove the acidity from the wine. You generally do not want to put raw wine into a dish. You can also sift the flour in the pot after the liquid ingredients were put in so you don't get clumps or flour.
I thought her methods were uninformed and problematic. I really do not understand the hysterically excited responses from people here...have they never cooked before?
Thanks Tatyana, I just added this to my Recipe Favs, it looks awesome. Btw, your presentation face-forward using the "Extra Burner" on your kitchen island made the video more personable and easy to follow. Two thumbs up!!

I’ve never made Beef Stew before and I didn’t even know where to start minus a few key ingredients. I have made this recipe over a dozen times now and is a family favorite. I like to make mine a little more hearty so I add more of (__?__) to suit my needs. I also add a little corn. But if you stay in the lines of this recipe you won’t go wrong. I can’t even imagine cooking it another way. So thank you sooooo much. Your recipe is now one of mine and I will always cherish it. If you like yours a little thicker after the starches do their job, Wondra quick mixing flour will thicken this to your preference. 5*****
I just increase her carrot, celery, onion by 50% also adding more potatoes and extra meat. 4lbs. Corn and peas. Thicken with wondra or brown flour. Once I added kidney beans but i used a qtr cup of smoked BBQ instead of
When you use broth to replace red wine, add a small amount of vinegar and cranberry juice to keep the brighter notes that the wine would add. Depending on the amount of juice you add, you might want to skip or reduce the amount of sugar you add elsewhere in the recipe

I just made this tonight and it is so freaking delicious. My 5 and 1 year old loved it! I made a side of corn bread with it as well. Bomb! 😍🤤
Awesome!! :) I'm so glad you both loved it! I love having cornbread on the side, too! :)
Ooh cornbread, that's a good idea.
Sounds like allot of effort with corn bread too. I'm coming to your house for dinner 🤤🤤🤤
Yes! I cooked up some cornbread last night with chicken and mac. I’m gonna cook this stew!
Did you use the wine with it too? (Because of your kids) I also have a 5 and 2 year old and I was hesitant but it won’t affect them then great!!!
I'm cooking this right now. Yesterday I made a home made beef bone stock . I bought the bones from a local butcher and added some more beef . Its great.
That's awesome! Homemade stock is amazing! Hope you love the stew!
That is the most luscious beef stew I've ever seen. Looks scrumptious. I like how the veg were diced. Then the small potatoes and peas put in towards the end. I'll have to do this one. Thanks for sharing!!!
So glad you enjoyed the video! :)
So good!!
That's so wonderful! I'm very happy you've been enjoying my recipe! A pot pie version of this sounds heavenly! :) I'll have to try that myself!
But I omitted the potatoes. Peas, carrots, onions and mushrooms
I was thinking it's more of a beef vegetable soup too. where I come from stews typically have a thicker gravy.
I just made this tonight and it is so freaking delicious. My 5 and 1 year old loved it! I made a side of corn bread with it as well. Bomb! No skillet to clean in the end and still got the desired result.
Awesome!! :) Love the corn bread idea! I'm so happy you and your family loved it!
I’ve made this twice, first time with wine and second without(replaced with more broth). Both times VERY delicious 🤤
Such an easy recipe to follow, thank you! 🤗
That's so wonderful to hear! :) I'm very glad you enjoyed the recipe!
I absolutely love this recipe! I make this about once a month on average.... can also throw all the ingredients in the crock pot and slow cook all day!

Hi @petef7819 I was wondering if I cook the meat first before putting everything into the crockpot ?
Can you please tell me how you do this recipe in the crockpot?
@petef7819 Hi, do I cook any of it first or do I throw everything into the crockpot as is???
Thanks
I finally got round to making this today - Been wanting to for the past week.
Wow, it was absolutely delicious. Great recipe. I served it with warm, freshly baked bread rolls and it was perfection. I had a second bowl, just now.
Personally, I like my stew a little thicker, so I stirred in some potato starch at the end.
Awesome!! I'm so happy you loved the recipe!
I also loved the stew. We made a hudge pot&Everyone Loved it. Great recipe!❤
When I say everybody in the family loved this recipe I cannot thank you enough !❤

When my mum made this when we were kids she used to add pearl barley. Bulks up the dish and those little beauties soak up the flavour. Yummy!
That's a great addition! :)
Total comfort food on a cold winter night. Don’t fret adding the wine doesn’t taste like alcohol at all and adds depth. So good!
I agree! I love making this year round, but especially during winter months!
I've been doing this recipe every single Autumn, for the past 3 years. It will always remain my favourite and I'm going to pass it down to the next generation :D thank you so much for this amazing video and the professional, cute vibe!

I'm so glad to hear that you and your family enjoyed the recipe!! Thanks for leaving a review!
@@TatyanasEverydayFood Love you!
Outstanding Ms T. God's Blessings to you Hubby and Family. Love your Joy of life and effervescence.
I coat my beef cubes in seasoned flour and brown them before adding to broth.
My wife is gf. This is my favourite recipe, but my stock is 2 x gf beer. Bay leafs and Henderson’s sauce (vegan and gf Worcester sauce) aka Sheffield nectar
Recipe available on request;-)
@@danielmontaigne1219 Would love the recipe. Thank you!
Recipe is
(Measurements are imprecise)
Stewing Beef or Steak - season in flour and brown a little
Celery - 1/2 stick per person cut in 1cm - sear in a pan
Carrot - enough cut in slices
Onion 1/2 per person - sear first
Mushrooms (optional)
Beef Stock 1/2 pint
Gluten Free Beer 2x 330ml bottles / cans
Tomato Puree - a good squeeze
Salt and pepper
Bay Leafs - a couple
Bouquet Garni just one
Henderson’s sauce - or Worcester Sauce - a good shake
Hold onto
Frozen peas
Frozen Sweetcorn
Put all items in a big oven proof pot and stew at 150c for a few hours
Switch off oven
Next day put on at 150c for a few hours (stir every half hour or so) and 30 mins or so before serving add a few frozen peas and sweetcorn For colour and extra veg
Add some gravy mix to thicken the gravy if needed
This is roughly my recipe but is never the same twice and makes a good amount but leaving it overnight lets the flavour flow
I make this gluten free as my wife is intolerant since her chemotherapy
By FAR the best soup I've ever made. Followed your recipe to a T. I'll make this for the rest of my days! FANTASTIC!
So wonderful to hear! I'm very glad you enjoyed it!
The red wine and W sauce compliment each other. Very good recipe.
I made this tonight, but without any red wine 🍷 and it was amazing, I made it less watery and made some rice on the side. The hubby and kids really enjoyed it. Thank you

@@sjb3460 any would do
@@sjb3460 Use one that you would happy to drink. Crappy wine makes a crappy stew.
@@MrHarleythedevil I like cooking with low quality beer. TNT burgers rock. But I'll never drink tnt from the can lol.

That's awesome to hear! It's always great to see others enjoy the recipe as much as I do! :)
Thanks for the info!
I thought her methods were uninformed and problematic. I really do not understand the hysterically excited responses from people here...have they never cooked before?

When you use broth to replace red wine, add a small amount of vinegar and cranberry juice to keep the brighter notes that the wine would add. Depending on the amount of juice you add, you might want to skip or reduce the amount of sugar you add elsewhere in the recipe
