I have the Henry 30-30 with the side gate and man it cycles like a dream very smooth I’m happy I got it money well spent the fit and Finnish is top notch and that rifle screams quality
I’ve been lucky to get about 2-3” at 100yds with most factory ammo. But I have a scope and that really helps me out due to my poor eyesight. I don’t recall which shoot best and what weight. They’ve all been good enough to shoot a deer within 100yds
@@samuelgerullisful henrypride.com/products/henry-egw-picatinny-rail-h009-and-h010-series?variant=32651774001212 That’s the rail I went with and I have low scope rings. I am not able to see the factory sights under them
I got the h009 with the tube fed from walmart for 700 almost spent 900 on vacation in florida for 900 glad i waited! Hope to get a video up soon on a few of my favorite rifles i have
Just grabbed a Big Boy X in the 30-30. Nope. It's not your Grandpa's 30-30. It's a lot more versatile with all the same trappings. My later Grandfather would scoff at the idea of a black polymer rifle with a funky red dot scope atop. He never would part from the dog-eared open sights. Having a threaded barrel would not even register in his brain. "Why the heck would you do that?" Because you can Grandpa! This makes my 5th or 6th Henry. They're addictive and worth it in my opinion and I have all the old pre-64 Winchester and Remington rifles too.
Nice. I’ve thought about the X models but didn’t want one. I get some heat from folks about my scopes on some of mine. I don’t want a scope, I need it for hunting because of my vision issues. I won’t dare shoot at an animal that I can’t clearly see to make an ethical kill. I get where your grandpa is coming and where you’re coming from. They’re nice rifles and have the best customer service out there in my honest opinion. Thanks for watching and sharing.
Yep, at nearly 60 years on earth I wear glasses now that are always smudged up because of my bear paws. I have to have optics now and, like you, I'll do everything possible for a clean, ethical harvest. I enjoyed your video and that's why I'm commenting. We hunters need to stick together instead of infighting and arguing about which gun is better than the other. Heck, I love them all and wish I could afford them all. @@JBJHonez
Ok, I'm gonna be hated for this but here goes, a scope does not belong on a lever. Period. No debate just no! It defeats the greatest asset of a lever gun . That being quick ,easy handling. While I'm on a roll here's another, the 3030 is a 100 to 20 yard cartridge. And I should say it is at that a wonderful killer of game . Good video, love your rifle .
😂 yeah, it’s only because of my eyesight. I wouldn’t have them on there either. If I can’t see what I’m shouting, I wouldn’t be shooting. I do understand and get what you’re saying. Thanks for watching and commenting
Lmao tell me you dont know anything about the 30-30 without telling me you dont know anything about the 30-30. Modern ammo has come a long way, and it makes these rifles quite accurate and powerful up to an easy 200 yards. At that point its both responsible and ethical to put a scope on it. Also if adding a 1lb scope makes it too difficult to handle you probably shouldnt own one.
@@JBJHonez gosh, what happened to you, did you stub your toe or something? I'm ignorant of much in life and very much appreciate that you took time out of your day to remind me of that fact.
It's your opinion, but I do disagree : my lever action is a utilitarian rifle, it's my go-to hunting rifle and not a misuem historical item, I want to take the best of it, hence the need of a scope !
