    I installed this optic on a crossman 760 air rifle.I have now shot the riffle around 500 times during target/plinking practice, and the th-cam.com/users/postUgkxc4K63Fd5LglDMObu7-Bgapxp_ef0W8hE scope has done well.With this optic, I have neutralized around 30 pigeons that were invading one of my buildings.For my short range air rifle, I will continue to use this scope, but will be upgrading to a more powerful scope, when I buy a more powerful air rifle, in order to shoot at longer distance.For the money I have spent, this scope has truly been a great buy.

    If you don't check eye relief before you tighten down you will have to loosen everything back again then adjust for relief & tighten back again. We all have made that mistake.

    Just a lesson on loctite. Loctite does not dry like glue. Loctite hardens from a chemical reaction due to the lack of oxygen. When the bolt or screw is tightened the oxygen is squeezed from the thread causing a reaction that turns the loctite to plastic thus locking the bolt or screw in place. 👍🏼

    Take this for what you will. There is no guarantee that your reticle is square with the horizontal top of your turret. You are better off to create a line on your wall that you can make perfectly vertical and line up the vertical line of your reticle with that. Then you are only making sure your firearm is square and checking your eye relief at the same time. Most of the time shooting a hundred yards or so it won't make a difference doing it your way. But shooting a long distance (like the rifle is designed to do) it can make a huge difference as i am sure you know. try it! Its something I learned from a rifle builder, long range shooter who worked for a scope manufacturer. He well over 50 yrs experience and builds for competition shooters.

    Eye relief was my concern when watching this install, but otherwise it was pretty good. The string and bob leveling method he mentioned was something I never thought of, but seems like a great option.

    Agree, an excellent instructional video over-all. But, another comment on the locktite. The holes you are putting the locktite are not closed at the bottom. They are open into the slide area. If you put the locktite into the hole itself instead on onto the threads of the screw, it could go down and onto the bolt. If it dries on the bolt, it will be very difficult to then cycle the lever. The locktite can be easily removed from both the bolt and the inside of the slide chamber but scratching it with your fingernail, but not something you need to mess with if you just put the locktite on the threads.

    I was surprised that the bolt of the rifle was not removed (or at least opened) prior to putting the locktite in the holes. Didn't anyone notice that some of it squeezed out when the base was put on?
    I would have put the rings on the scope before putting them on the base, that way the front to rear position of the scope could be better adjusted.
    We have to remember that this is the guy that doesn't count the rounds he fires, so after the last round he slams the rimfire firing pin down against the back of the barrel. He looks older now than he was in previous videos, so one would have thought he would have learned to not dryfire a rimfire. I guess not.

    If I use a solid base a rail, I would use a credit card to level my scope. Just use the flat bottom part of your Scope and your scope rail and just slightly lift up the credit card, and you will see if there's a gap on either side, you just turn the scope until there's no gap.

    Isn’t this just assuming that the turret is level with the reticle? That’s not always the case. I use a plumb line method which I think it more universally reliable versus hoping that the turret is actually level relative to the reticle.

    Locktite is for the threads. Using half a bottle like that just ruined the top of that rifle. You can see it squeeze out between the rifle top and the rail after the 3 minute mark…..

    • @Rydeman2
      @Rydeman2 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      He didn’t ruin the rifle. Plenty of people apply blue locktite on the bottom of the rail for extra support. That little bit is only gonna help keep the base more secure. I don’t think it’s necessary to locktite anything but the threads as you said, but it doesn’t hurt anything.

    • @bobsradio6025

    Cool. I got my Henry long ranger yesterday and I setting my Arkin scope on tonight. Mine is the 223/556 Nato. That makes 10 Henry rifles now and fills my wish list on Henry's. These will be passed down to my nephew's boy as he knows they are to be passed down. We lost our only daughter a few years back without a warning.
    Question. Why do you tighten and set the front ring to full 18 in/lb and then do the back? Just curious.
    I have the cabela's bubble level set. It has the magnetic level thay you can sit on your rail and one on the top adjustment knob. I also get the eye relief right and even though I'm using the levels I put a plumb bob string just to make sure. OCD>>>???? Maybe.
    That was a very good video. I'm not a new shooter and I've been around lever guns since I was 10 (I'm 66). I know Henry and all lever gun folks say to never break them down fully. I'm not sure why. I've done it when I think I've got sand in the action and never had any issue but I know where everything goes.
    Do a vid on a Henry gun bench (for the DIY guys not a gun smith) tools and cleaners/oils/etc. I have the Wheeler wrench and all the tools I need. I use some Henry stuff along with hops Hop's. Don't be shy on what you need. I'd do it for a guy that has nothing. It would be cool and you do a great job. PS. How about sending me one of those cool shirts. Large would be fine....Ha.
    Love Henry's and look forward to seeing your next vid.
    I just noticed that I have the same vice as you do.

  • @rapidrrobert4333

    Too much loctite. There is no need for it if you torque properly in CLEAN threads.

  • @Hollywood41642
    @Hollywood41642 ปีที่แล้ว

    Never use loctite on any mounting or ring screws.. Loctite will lubricate the threads, and the torque specs will be more then what your tool says.. the tool is calibrated for steel on steel threads.. And loctite creates a gap between the threads and when it dry's you now have the gap.. And check ur eye relief before u tighten ring screws..
