I know this is WAY too late to say, but that car has a torn Diverter Valve, you can hear it in the first few seconds of the video. The turbo is not meant to have a high pitch on high boost, that is boost escaping from the diverter valve as I bet it has a stock diverter valve, it does not have a blow off valve you can tell when you let off the throttle. The car could actually have higher boost if this part was replaced, and therefore more power. 0-100 in 3.9 is kind of slow for a Stage 2, you would expect 3.4ish Torn diverter valves are very common, that is why people get a more durable replacement.
it’s just sound resonance from the intake. mine sounds the same as well as many other videos. it has a boost gauge in the infotainment and mine makes what it should for the tune i have ~26psi
I totally get it. I like my RS5 over the R35 GTR because it’s just so much more visceral. Hard to explain, but it’s about how it makes you feel not just performance.

@@harrygraham5169 Mine is an HPA Hybrid. The internals have all been upgraded because they fail on the stock one. There are lots of good options. The vortex standard and xl have great reviews.
I noticed that the blanket underneath the hood was sagging on the bottom left, which sits directly over the turbo. My 2019 Golf R had the same problem and the dealer replaced it under warranty for me. I suggest that the owner try to get them to do the same for them as it's a known issue on the MQB platform. They may not accommodate since the car has been manipulated but it's a legit complaint that should be covered. Cheers!
This is my exact car 2020 golf r final edition,mine is white too haven't modded it yet except for cosmetic stuff and bigger stereo stuff on top of the dynaudio I got a proper optical audio interface from mobridge so all the oem factory stuff is maintained I've just got bigger amps, and zapco 16 channel DSP and JL 13w7 sub cis I'm a music nut this was more important to me I'll keep my warranty for the remainder of it before I do anything I think, down pipe and tune will be all I do as well!
The performance VW's are great if you do them correctly like this one (Though I'm not a huge fan of 4 pot cracks and bangs)... Have you reviewed an E46 M3 or E60/62/63 M5/M6? Also, please review an 80's or 90's Commodore such as a Turbo VL... Keep up the great work and hey, I might see you around Vic...

I don't have anything "interesting" but it's a 2021 Kia Cerato GT, Xforce Catback system is pretty much all I have.. Other than that it's stock in the northern suburbs of Melbourne.
One thing I hate with these cars is when I pull up to the lights against one in my cammed six litre I know I'm screwed but I give it a shot anyways, damn their quick👍 where bouts in Melbourne will you be at? Not my cup of tea but can certainly appreciate it. Really unpopular opinion but I dont like the crackle and pop.. it just sounds shit to me. I guess im old school and really love the sound of V8's 🤷♂️ these cars go hard though, no denying that.
I’m an old V8 guy too and agree about the crackle & pop tunes but you don’t have to have those tuned into it, you can have it tuned with no crackle n pop and just as quick. I threw caution to the wind and snagged one of these Finsl Edition new, I haven’t modded it (yet) but it’s quick and better still in wet or damp conditions it still pulls the same. Just playing around, I’ve gapped and XR6 turbo off the lights (it was highly modded) & I also put a few lengths on a modded Supra, admittedly in damp conditions. Best thing about them is they don’t stand out at all, nobody gives it a second glance. As a daily driver it would have to be one of the best around, comfortable (for a small car) & the finish is much nicer than much on the road. It’s just a golf but it shreds 😂
Awd really help put power down more than people expect. Should try find a modified turbo territory, you drove a stock one but a worked barra is something different

Yeah but it was the Final Edition for the Mk7.5 & there’s a few of us that ran out and bought one after we saw the photos of the Mk8 as it had been released in Germany and is an abomination imo. Love this little pocket rocket, they are quick stock but some guys have stage 3 tuned them and are getting subb3 second 0-100 times out of them. 😂
@@GR8Tmate What ended to make it a Final Edition. There was a Lancer Evo X Final Edition and Final Edition WRX STI at the end of the EJ, that turned out to be the end of the STI name plate all to gather. I agree they are obscenely quick car and very tunable.

I have a stock 2019 Special Edition Golf R. The Akrapovic exhaust sounds ballistic, and though I haven’t tuned it yet, when I do I’ll be disappointed if I’m not seeing better 0-100 times than the car in the clip. Maybe Ross didn’t give it the beans as it was a borrowed car or maybe it had an issue
What a little weapon. I had MK 6 R, threw all the mods at it , very quick but never really did it for me but a great car non the less. That must the the fastest 0-100 so far.

400hp on a stage 2 definitely not happening more like 320-330hp atw. With Stage 3 you will make 400+hp. Bigger turbo intercooler flex fuel E85/98 down pipe you can make 400+hp My 2018 VW Golf R MK7.5 made 310hp atw with stage 1. Tuned by Pacortech Ingleburn

Golf's are gorgeous but they deserve manual transmission. Love how German cars have insane specs and tunes can just make them even more fun. The golf R deserves a tune
i dont quite get the manual love in tbh ive only ever drove manual until i got my DSG R, had a manual GTI beforehand no way would way would i have a manual over a DSG as far as the R is concerned, its a big part of what makes the car special imo
You can buy a Mk6 Golf R with a manual. They’re slow (manuals) and consume more fuel on most settings -and requires an expensive clutch replacement once you go above a basic tune. Very difficult to launch cleanly too. Overall, most people stopped buying them. VW stopped selling them.

A digital dash is a magic trick for not making you see that they are saving money, why would anyone want one? no one can say that they look better than a dial dash.

Golf R is quite the unassuming beast. Unfortunately, as with ALL cars with integrated exhaust "headifold" the exhaust note is absolutely, unforgiveably, horrendous. Painful 🤮

I drive 2018 TTS, stage 2 with 394hp. It's so much nicer to drive then Golf R unless the Golf had rear sway bar changed

These EA888 engines tuned at stage 2 or more got a good amount of torque (about 500++Nm of torque)

Golf R is quite the unassuming beast. Unfortunately, as with ALL cars with integrated exhaust "headifold" the exhaust note is absolutely, unforgiveably, horrendous. Painful 🤮
