    Holding down shift and booting into safe mode worked for me. I had updated using the System Settings, instead of the previous times using OCLP to patch first. Thanks.

    Thanks! Fixed. Just used these tips (PAM/NVRAM) on my White 2010 macbook 7,1, which stuck doing an update from Ventura straight to Sonoma 14.2! Going like a real champ with 16GB ram and 4TB ssd. I also used a USB hub and external keyboard until my root patches were in.

    Dude, you are a lifesaver. I ran into this problem with OCLP 1.3 and Sonoma 14.2. I normally wait for a while before upgrading but decided to be reckless. Safe Mode did the trick for me. Had to do it 3 times. but eventually finished, then again in Safe mode had to install the root patches. Next boot without Safe Mode, it was stuck and I was about to power cycle, when suddenly the bar shot forward and now I am running 14.2 on my Macbook air.
    Salute 🖖

    I can confirm that this works! My mid-June 2012 MBP is now running Sonoma 14.4, w/ OCLP 1.4.3, successfully. It was stuck on the Apple logo screen, but I rebooted and selected the EFI boot drive + Shift and it finally finished and booted up! Then I just patched the MBP boot drive, and now it's fully functional. Thank you!

    Thanks - needed this today with 7,2 MacbookAir that got badly stuck on reboot, this worked. I think it was associated with a big jump in OCLP version on venture 0.6.8 to 1.4.1 while on Ventura.
    Went all out and installed sonoma 14.2., had the stuck progress bar the did the safe mode shift button, on 14.4 using 1.4.1.

    This happened to my late '13 MBP. I hadn't even updated yet. Was still on 14.0. Only updated OCLP to 1.21, updated root patch in preparation for the upgrade and got stuck after restart. Tried everything. Ended up creating a new partition on the internal SSD, installing there using a Sonoma USB I'd already created, installing OCLP 1.3 and restoring to the new partition. Long process but worked for me.

    After rebooting, selecting the OCLP EFI, and reaching the MacOS HD selection screen, press and hold the space bar and after a few moments you should see additional options to boot from, including the "Reset NVRAM" executable. Select it and proceed as indicated from there.

      @HBProductions. 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@JessiesFlying I didn't say that was THE solution. In the video, it was suggested trying it to see if it helps users be able to conitinue the upgrade or a reboot into safe mode. I only gave an easier alternative on how to do such task which is simpler than doing a multi-button combo press which varies depending on the hardware kb you have. Everyone has a spacebar and that tid-bit of info isn't as easily found online by newcomers to Mac's.

      You have to reduce security settings to enable boot from external drive. Go to recovery and check your security settings

    Didn't know about the CTRL trick to set the bootloader to set/boot the "correct" boot meny entry. Did you find a way to disable the startup chime, once happy w/ the installation? I cannot seem to disable it...

    It worked on my MacBook Pro 2012 too. After it got stuck with the progress bar at about one third, rebooting manually to the efi boot and then booting into safe mode, checking if Sonoma 14.1 was installed (yes!), opening Open Core patcher and installing the root patches and after another reboot everything seems to be fine

    • @chapeaubay
      @chapeaubay 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      How do you reboot “manually”? I am frustrated as any recommendation given here fails to get me beyond the “log in page”! I also don’t make it with the “shift” pressing into safe boot. Anything else I could “press” to get the system running?

    • @patrick-jefferson
      @patrick-jefferson 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi @chapeaubay , with rebooting 'manually' I meant a hard reboot. Then you select the efi boot and when you get the selection of boot drives (like Macintosh HD) you select the boot drive while holding the shift key and then press enter. If your Mac keyboard (built-in or bluetooth) doesn't do that you should you could use a usb keyboard. I hope that will help get it fixed

    Many thanks, you solve me the stuck lodo problem after regular sonoma 14.1.1 update in my macbookair 13 mid 2013. Only another question: by default, when i boot mac it's appear every time the choice of uefi boot sonoma (only that choice) and after 3 sec boot up. Is possible to delete the option and boot directly? thanks again

    • @JessiesFlying

      keep CTRL pressed while selecting to set it as standard. if you mean the OpenCore boot selector, start OCLP, go to settings and decrease show time for menu to 0 seconds, install to disk and reboot (not recommended though, set at least 1 sec)

    Hi. Might be a bit much to ask. Early 2008 mac tower. Intel. El Capitan. I did Pram and the shift option.
    The time remaining bar does indeed appear but every time it jams at 1 minute. I’ve even left it over night! No joy. 😢 so close. Now I’m stuck.

    so, if a new update from apple were out, then what would be the correct steps to update the version of macos on an unsupported mac?
    a) a minor update...e.g. 14.1 to 14.2 or 14.3?
    b) major update...eg from sonoma 14 to the next macOS 15?
    thanks!

      Subscribe me channel and wait for a 👍, then update to latest OCLP, download KDK for macOS version you want to update to, then create USB with new macOS version and install (root patches already applied when installing with USB)

I had the same (white screen and slow motion mouse) plus problem with WiFi conection for OpenCore Patcher (computer had connection all the time, expect patcher) on Mac 11.5 (early Pro 2015). After installing patcher version 1.1 Patcher could connected to net and patch system perfectly.

      you need to hold ALT / OPTION to go to Apple boot selector and select EFI Boot (that's OpenCore) - otherwise an unsupported macOS won't boot...
