just installed macOS 14.1.2 with OCLP 1.2.1 sucessfully on a macPro6,1 last night - it needed the post-install root patch to get the wifi and the second monitor support working. fortunately OCLP 1.2.1 fixed a bug where it didnt cache the kexts for this process before running the update - and when macOS started installing 14.1.2 - oclp was able to detect this (just as described in the video), and prepare for the situation - and thus it all went well. thank you so much OCLP team for making such a stable system for supporting legacy machines. 🙏

iMac 27‘ end 2015 and MBP 15’ mid 2015 updated flawlessly. KDK new version automatically started from OCLP. So no issues at all. Let’s wait for the next bigger update in December. Again many thanks Jessie! I wish you and Family great seasons!

Issue with iMac 15,1 is that Apple has dropped support for Broadcom wifi chipset in the KDK for Sonoma. Wifi works in “limp mode” with Safari not at all with Chrome. Workaround was to put back into service an AirPort Express (Gen2) to Extend WiFi and use the Ethernet port to provide stable Internet connection to the iMac 15,1.

I had to use a MacBook M1 to download Sonoma via WiFi (using open core's create boot disk option) and create a boot installer on USB memory. My ethernet cable connects the internet for my MacPro, but with Sonoma I can not use SMB to connect to my MacBook via ethernet - and I don't know why.
The black screen during my second install lasted for 90 to 120+ minutes. (And made me extremely nervous) @@gerardllosa261

Thanks, i did it on my 5,1 2009, RX 560 2 GB, 16 GB Ram the following way: Running Monterey 12.6.6 on NVME 1 TB, cloned on another NVME via CCC enabled Apple booting procedures with all data on it. Worked and booted the first time. Then updadet OCLP to the newest version and installed it to disk. Then downloaded 14.1.2 and installed to cloned NVME, without USB-installer. Then started the update to 14.1.2 on the cloned Monterey. Denitiely no issues, EFI-Sonoma booted, and regognized of course my old driver for Line 6 guitar interface. Works. I only had to upgrade Paralles to version 19, to use my win7 virtual machine. Works. Only the old Blootooth was a problem, until i deleted the plist and reseted the VRAM. Summary: I am runnig and working on Sonoma 14.1.2 stable on my 5,1 cheesegrater now. Best regards to your work!

Jessie , this is brilliant !
I am a bit new to this , so before I do anything to any of my computers , I am going to watch your videos and learn as much as I can , before I risk messing up !
My main computer is a 2008 dual 4 core 2.8GHZ Mac Pro 5,1 with 16 Gb RAM ( colloquially an 8 core ) , and currently running El Capitan , I use it mainly for photography and video work , using Adobe CC Lightroom and Photoshop , neither of which have updated in several years because my OS is too old . For I use video Final Cut Studio 3 , Final Cut pro 7 , I still like the old timeline method of working rather than the later , clip based , versions ( for which i have the original retail installation pack )I also have a Matrox MXO2 , which I use for capturing analogue video from legacy formats ( VHS/S-VHS , Betamax , Video 8 , Hi-8 , U-Matic , MII , Betacam ) , besides also having DV/HDV/XDCAM , and have an eSATA card for running my various G Technology G Speed arrays , besides my various G-RAID and G-Drive external drives all on the FW800 bus . I also have two slightly older 'cheese grater' Mac pros and a PowerMac G5 , all of which hang on my network , along with my young son's iMac ( I need to check exactly what it is as I can't remember , but it also runs El Cap . Besides my 8 core Mac Pro , the other machine I use regularly is my 2009 Unibody 17" MBP , which is a 2.8GHz Core 2 Duo with 8Gb RAM . I do have some even older macs which I've just kept after getting newer ones . I am tempted to get a 12 core 'cheese grater' model as they can be had for very reasonable prices now and may give me more options ; not so keen on the 'trashcan' models as they don't look able to accept expansion cards , and the latest Mac Pro models are out of my budget range .
It might seem prudent to me to remove the current hard drives from my Mac Pro and put in new ones , from which I can do a Snow Leopard install from my original install discs , sign into iCloud and easily upgrade to El Cap . With my original hard discs intact , I guess I can always get back to where I was before ?
While all of this is new to me , I am not new to computing : I took my degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering in 1977 , and my first experience of computing in the early 1970s was coding Fortran while still at school ; later I did programming on a Digital PDP80 and my first 'personal computer' at work was an Apple II ( before they were MacIntosh ! ) . At home , I started out with a Commodore 64 , and worked my way up through the Amiga Range , before buying an iMac G3 DV when it came out ; because that unit was faulty , and it was Christmas , the store gave me a PowerMac G4 in exchange , and I had to buy a monitor . Sometime around there I also bought a PowerBook G3 Pismo , which seemed cutting edge at the time . later I got a PowerMac G5 , dual 2.5Ghz , and that is the machine still lying upstairs with some legacy software on it , although not used any longer ; i also still have one PowerBook G4 , although I had at least three 17" PowerBook G4s .
So , I am not new to Apple , and am pretty competent at a lot of things , but i very much recognise what I do not know , so before making mistakes , i want to read and learn before I risk messing up .
Jesse , having read the above , can you direct me to any particular videos for 'newbies' ? I also welcome comment and advice from other members , but I won't do anything until I learn more and minimise the risks of turning my existing machines into bricks . I will probably start with one of my 4 core mac Pro machines and only try to update my 8 core machine if I have success with that . Also watching eBay for a 12 core machine with the fastest processors and as much RAM as possible , which may then become my main machine .
Thanks in advance , Derek .

For those of you stuck at 1/3 progressbar (like happened to me), I found some (APFS) snapshots on the internal drive greyed out or having a size of 0 bytes. If you delete these, and then, it boots through. Although no graphic accelarion, it gave me the possibility to poke around and make a new installer on a USB stick which -after this- worked ok. Hope this helps others, as I couldn't find anything related to corrupt APFS snapshots related to failed updating on unsupported Macs.

I wanted to install Sonoma 14.1.2 using system update method but OCLP didn't detect that I was downloading a Sonoma update.
I reinstalled OCLP and I also deleted launch agent to force its recreation. Nothing worked. For some reason I always found the launch agent unabled when I looked at launch agents in my CleanmyMac app.

I downloaded and manually installed Sonoma 14.1.2 KDK and then I proceeded to update my system.

Im always curious: how about security? Now, I’ve installed Ventura on my iMac 13.1 with the latest security updates I guess. But nevertheless, this is based on a cracked system. How does the general vulnerability compare to let’s say a PC running Windows? And additionally, how large is the risk compared to a brand new Mac with the original system?
Especially, using passwords in the internet…..
I ran the 13.1 for 2 years I guess, before I recognized that it didn’t get any security update anymore.
