Billups is so underrated. Denver became a very good team the instant they traded for him, and the Pistons, honestly, have never recovered from losing him.
The process failed miserably years ago. It was over with Fultz. People are so desperate to not face the music, but it was obvious years ago that basing your future on failure was bad for the team and the league. The process helped ruin basketball.
To be fair a lot of those failed dynamic duos came in the bestern conference between 1999 and 2014. 13 of those 16 years were won by tim or kobe. And if they were having an off year, you had to hope that dirk was off too.
@@gamingwithmya7447 ikr? One team in 16 years in the west didn’t have tim, kobe or dirk. it just needed 3 future mvps in the same team. Meanwhile, in 2011, pacers won 37 games and went to the playoffs
Its weird with the harden howard situation because those first two seasons the rockets actually had good overall success; won 54 and 56 games, respectively, and even cracked the conference finals that second season (Shoutout Clippers). But then come to find out, Harden and Howard were having issues behind the scenes the whole time.
You're wrong about KG. Big Ticket would have gladly given the spotlight to Marbury. He loved Step and considered him the brother he never had. KG was always a team-first guy. This trade was all about Marbury's immature and jealous nature. It also didn't help that one season after Garnett signed his record contract, Stern and the NBA changed the CBA and adopted a cap system- forever crippling MN's roster as long as Garnett was there.

The Howard-Harden combo isn’t even like top 5 in my mind: OKC, Nets, 76ers, CP3 era, last season…? It’s kinda…insane…the more I *actually* think about it
Houston Harden was technically the most dominant offensive player in the post merger era... The numbers say Harden in his prime was more offensively dominant than MJ,Kobe, LeBron,Embiid, Carmelo, Durant, Curry, Duncan, O'Neal, Kareem, or any other superstar to play in the post merger era. He was 2nd only to Wilt Chamberlain which was before the NBA, ABA merger.. never been a Harden fan but the scoring run he went on in Houston was extraordinary
Which is fine...for the regular season. But iso ball doesn't work in the playoffs, especially with a coach like D'Antoni who pushes the pace and prefers a "7 seconds or less" style offense.
He was literally travelling on most shots and hooking arms while driving. Those stats are extremely padded. How many ft was he shooting per game? He was fouling damn near every drive and when they started coming down hard on that his stats fell off completely. Don’t paint this dumb narrative.
The sad part about KG and Starbury is that they reunited in Boston in 2008-09. But sadly KG got injured midway through the season and never returned. After that, Marbury left the NBA for good.

Dwight Howard was a great defender with no Offensive game. He used his athleticism and power, once his athleticism went he was pretty much useless. He never developed a post game
The main reason why Ben Simmons and Jordan be failed is because there was no true leadership in Philly and the only time they had real leadership was when Jimmy Butler was there and if they chose to keep him over Tobias Harris, everybody could've fit their role properly, but they choose to let him go and they have forever regretted that move It led to nothing but a big mess.
Harden and howard could've been kobe and Shaq...difference is coaching. Phil figured out how to take the 2 biggest egos in the game and have them click JUST ENOUGH to win championships. Theor hatred for each other was public. They weren't bossom buddies.....but for 60 minutes every couple of days they got along just enough to be dominant. If harden and howard had someone who pushed them and make them both happy with the offense....they could've been scoring 130 a night while completely shutting down the paint for opposing offenses. People forget, despite being a goofball, nba players would hesitate if not completely avoid driving at howard just a few years prior. Injuries definitely hindered his capabilities as a player but if he grew up and worked hard he could have been maybe 85% of his peak Orlando dominance, which combined with the best scorer at the time...would've been devastating. If he would've just accepted being #2...or even #1B he could've allowed Harden to learn, mature, and grow in his game. He stayed in neutral and even regressed because he was worried about the other shit more than the game itself which ultimately is reason why his championship window has closed (he can get a ring, but likely off the bench on another star's back...like howard in LA)
Bro dwight destroyed the Lakers, rockets and other teams hopes by wanting post shots despite the fact he had no post bag. I feel like it’s worth mentioning that guys like Shaq and Barkley would call out Dwight Howard and Blake Griffin a lot for their lack of post game. In the case of Dwight, it proved them right really because once his athleticism dropped off, he wasn’t really skilled enough to dominate the post and that’s even with the strong body. Also just this weird need of Dwight to post up, rather than just be the screener which is what he is really good at and what Harden is really good at using.
