In this video we cover some NBA prospects who never had a chance for success. This include Bronny James, Jahlil Okafor, Hasheem Thabeet, Ben Simmons, and Anthony Bennett's insane rise and falls.
With Greg Oden, I feel like it's worth pointing out that the Blazers had a notoriously awful medical staff at the time that either ignored the serenity of multiple injuries and long term solutions to problems to get players back on the floor (Ex. A sports doctor friend explained to me once that athletes like Oden commonly get shoe lifts to balance out the leg discrepancy). As good as the on court fit was, Oden probably becomes the Hakeem to Durant's Jordan if any other team wins the lottery (Probably not the best pick given how the league evolved, but everyone is happy with the selection regardless).
@@hmohngcheelee7549 Oden could have saved. Roy in all honesty I wish just stayed in Minnesota. People forget the reason he dropped out of the top 5 in his draft class was because the GMs knew that he was never going to have more than a 5-6 year career. I would have loved for him to have a championship window with KG right away.
I try to be on Bronnys side. But I cant get over how his "story" kills the idea of an achievement. LeBron started with a poor young mom and no father. Bronnys father is the worlds most athletic billionare.
@theemotionalremix There are thousands of players who are undeserved and pay their way to get there, compared to someone who doesn't have the funds to do the same, but it way more talented. Yall act like you know every player who got there deserved it, but because he's lebrons son ppl wanna put a target on his back
@@PR_2407 I don't know who you're talking about, I've never heard of these "other players" that you're on about because we're talking about Bronny James. You can support Bronny if you want to but I can understand why Lakers fans are angry. This kid isn't good enough to play in the NBA, he's not even good enough to start in the G-League.
The difference between Bronny and everyone else is they were lottery picks lol and Bronny was a LATE second round pick. Y’all’s hate for Lebron shows by the way yall project on to his son. Name 4 players picked at his position with the expectations of being a HOFer?
I nominate the absolute train wreck that is Royce White, who was drafted in the 1st round, but refused to play because of a fear of flying and anxiety disorder, and general mental disabilities. This same man is now running for political office😂😂😂
I think people don’t know going into cardiac arrest as a athlete can really slow you down especially if you don’t have the proper time to get rest. The man use to play extremely hard now he seems so hesitant.
not trying to defend bronny because he’s definitely not NBA level, but skipping over his literal cardiac arrest is kind of disingenuous. Say what you want about his skillset but we can’t deny at one point he WAS a legit prospect until that derail happened. He still gets talked about way too much for someone who’s done legit nothing though.
I also didn't like how he failed to mention his contract has in it that he spends a decent amount of time in the g league almost half the season and only 2 years are guaranteed of the contract he has to earn the other 2.
@ygjjjgui .. he was doing alot better before that.. that's why his minutes got diminished not because he couldn't play they didn't wanna risk injury same reason why he declared this year if he on a time bomb why would he waste time in college ?
@@mr.longjohn0014 There is literally no evidence to suggest that he would be any better if it hadn't happened. He averaged under 5 points despite playing like 20 minutes per game at a bad school. He's a year removed from the medical emergency, and he's still no good. The reason it wasn't mentioned in the video is that it's actually not relevant.
Good video like normal but why are we dunking so hard on Bronny already??? When have we ever cared about the 55th pick🌝get real now. Give the kid a year or 2. We’ve seen worse picks higher up, WE’RE TALKING ABOUT THE 55th pick. Not even top of round 2 being a bust. Come on now
so you’re telling me a kid who was drafted not because he was good but because of his dad, gets a 5.4 million guaranteed money (what second round pick gets that much???) and he can’t face criticism? is this 🥷🏾serious????
Because if his last name was anything else he wouldn't be in the league. He might become a decent player, he might be a waste of a pick in retrospect, but what we do know is that as of right now he is only in the league due to nepotism
@@TheNeutronJawn Criticism is fair, but being this critical of the 55th pick is insane. We’ve already established that he’s not gon be his dad, cool. The purpose of taking him this late is b/c he doesn’t have the talent. If it were as serious as everyone as making it he would’ve gon round 1.
@@jaystirg People are so critical of Bronny James because he’s LeBron James’ son. You can’t expect people not to critique a player just because they’re a second-round pick. Bronny hasn’t proven himself in the league yet and doesn’t perform at a high level. Despite this, he received an unprecedented amount of guaranteed money for a second-round pick. The only ones who seem to avoid criticism of him are LeBron fans and Lakers fans.

Nah KAT was a better overall player in College then Okafor in college. The stat comparison is misleading. Yes Duke won the national title that year, but that Kentucky team was 38-0 before being upset by Wisconsin. There were 3 lottery picks and 4 1st rounders in the 2015 draft class and 2 2nd rounders and 8 players total would eventually play in the NBA not counting Alex Poythress who I believe was injured in the preseason. KAT was always better defensively and a better passer than Okafor and was rapidly improving as an around the basket scorer in the 2nd half of the season. Towns per 40 minute stats in college 19.5 ppg and 12.7 rebounds 4.3 blocks and and 2.1 assist. Jahlil Okafor's per 40 minutes stats in college 23 ppg 11.3 rebounds 1.9 blocks per game and 1.7 assist. The only stat Okafor was better than Towns at in college was scoring in per 40 minute stats and even that wasn't by much.
Man the lefraud army is in here hard. They are glazing the prince as hard as they glaze their “king.” Sports shouldn’t have nepotism in it because you can either play in nba or not. Your daddy being good shouldn’t guarantee you a contact and spot without ever earning it. Lakers are dumb
Yeah he’s a 55th pick but a 55th pick with a guaranteed contract/roster spot before proving himself is not something he worked hard for c’mon now. We all know he was given that by name. I want him to succeed too but let’s not lie to ourselves. 😂😂

Bronny should not be on this list.. Even if he only gets on very small contract after his rookie contract and plays at the end off the bench for a few seasons i would not call his journey a failure.. It's 100% true that anyone not called "James" would never get a chance in the NBA witch such a statline and health issues.. but yeah.. if we look back in 10 years and bronny is still in the league.. avg of 2 points at the end of a bench.. then it was not a failure!
Still feel bad for Oden. If we just would've gotten to see Oden, Roy and Aldridge play together healthy for a couple of seasons..
