CCI AR-TACTICAL .22 LR Ammo- Will It Work In a Pistol? 5-Gun Shooting Review - Accurate & Reliable?

- Some of my viewers have asked if CCI AR-Tactical rimfire ammo, which is designed for the AR platform, will cycle in standard .22 pistols. Today we find out when I fire this ammo through a rifle and several handguns.
Love the sound of the ricochets
LOL I thought the same love that sound and a echo!!
Reminded me of my much younger days of shooting my single shot bolt rifle and 'bouncing' the rounds off the pond in our remote cabin area.
"Barbasol Revenge"
Shaving cream from Dollar Tree always goes to the range when I take my grandkids!
Remember folks, adding the word "tactical" to the name on the box automatically adds $10+ to the price.
Same price as minimags where I live
The point of these things is, the powder charge is designed to be strong enough to cycle semi autos reliably. I’ve never had that issue with 10/22, it’s even ran subsonic no issue. But apparently some semi auto blowbacks are picky about how much velocity the bolt has, on recoil.
@@PitPwnyit might also imply a slower burning powder to take advantage of the long barrel vs a short lil pistol
Only $10? That's a bargain!
more like $12.00 to $15.00!!
Lovin the .22’s lot of fun at the range without breaking the bank.
Problem with 22lr is that you shoot far more with it than other calibers.
But amount of fun it brings for price is still on one best ratio you
can spend for good time.
I have got to say I really like your videos. I love the way you and your son get along. Thank you so much. I will continue watching as long as you put them out.
Me too!!
Hello Scott. We will keep making these videos as long as we possibly can and we thank you and all of my viewers for watching them.
Some years ago I remember participating in a forum thread where people compared the regular Mini-mags with the Tactical rounds. My recollection was that the Tactical rounds seemed to be virtually identical to Mini-mags, but that the Tactical rounds seemed to have more wax on the projectiles and the projectiles may have had a slightly different shaped nose.
CCI AR Tactical is wonderful and reliable. I introduced a friend of mine to it who had a finicky autoloader and it solved all the feed problems.
You have become among my most favorite channels
That's so awesome....thank you BandGeek 👍😎
8:15 That "oink" on the Beretta was really priceless! 😅😊😂
👍😁👌
Your accuracy test is valid. You truly know how to make that gun rest and get trophy style results. Some other TH-camrs accuracy test is nothing but a wobbling joke.
Thank you my friend 👍😎👌
I have the same sig 522 classic. I saw your original video years ago. Been a viewer ever since. They are bullet delivery devices of the highest quality 👌
Light 'em up! Good example of how a .22 LR sounds when it's supersonic vs. subsonic. Pretty easy to pick up the "crack" of the rifles when the projectiles are moving >1150 fps, vs. no "crack" when they fall below the speed of sound. I bet that smelled good around there - the sweet smell of smokeless propellant. Fun and informative video!
Yes indeed, I love the smell of gunpowder in the morning! 😁
Any day shooting hundreds of rounds of .22 is a fun day! You confirmed my opinion of CCI ammo. But why does everything have to "tactical"?
I agree, the word "tactical" is highly overused and overrated.
Tried this ammo and liked it so much bought almost 5K rounds. It runs beautifully through my CMMG 22 AR conversion.
Good to know. I have a CMMG .22 AR conversion and maybe I'll do another review with this ammo and my conversion. Thanks for the suggestion.
That Sig is a beauty, sir! 😍
Yes it is, thank you👍😎
It's always a good time with some decent 22lr's. After your last video, I was gonna go to my sportsman's club after work last Monday, but when I got there someone took all the plywood back stops for the range. Always good to see you and your son out together.
My son and I always enjoy making these videos together and we both have memories that we will never forget.
I seem to remember reading an article a good while ago that talked about how S.W. got with CCI to come up with a round that would run reliably in the S.W. 15-22. It appears that when the 15-22 first came out it didn’t run well with the common, standard velocity, lead bullet. Apparently bumping up the velocity to 1200 and using a copper washed bullet solved the cycling/reliability issues that plagued the 15-22 when it first came out. I think CCI named it “AR TACTICAL” as a nod to S.W. for the joint project to fix their “AR 22”..Anyway, I’m pretty old but that’s what I seem to remember……😎
I know they had the MINI MAG but they wanted something specific for the 15-22 and it’s also just a bit less “zippy”…..
Great video ... liked the presentation and the shooting range, we shoot outdoors too. I've shot a lot of this same ammo, a Mom & Pop hardware store up the street sells it in those 300 round bricks. yes! Good ammo!
CCi has always been good to me so this doesn't surprise me but that Sig is a nice rifle. That last shot was the icing on the cowboy hat? haha.
Great video. Love you guys
CCI and Aguila.... the two best rimfire ammo on the planet!
What is that old saying don't spit into the wind, I guess that applies to shooting also. Love what you do.
Pee as well. Give yourself a golden shower. no good.
Don't tell anyone but we usually check the direction of the wind before we shoot shaving cream. It wouldn't be any fun if the wind was blowing away from us 😁
You both shot great today! I'm really surprised at the exceptional reliability you've had with ammo lately. Great video!
That last shot was a knee slapper..... yep, I'm from TN!!😂
👍😁
Love all the ricochet sounds !! 👍🔫
Great review as always. That was a close shave on that last shot. Woots
Really clean shooting guns! Thanks for sharing! Stay Healthy!
What a video mixup 🎉 you're entertaining us in that excessive heat . Really appreciate your contribution for the global TH-cam community. Keep shooting 🎉
We will....even in the heat 👍😎 👍😎
And the echo. Good stuff
A beam in and a perfect ending. Great vid Mix! Love that Sig.
👍😎 👍😁 👍👽
Always fun videos 📹 Thanks again. 👍😎
Digging that Sig. Not to hijack, but this vid reminded me of the time my friend and I went shooting out on our favorite fire road. He had his 10-22 and I had my old Marlin 60. I had the Marlin so dialed in that I got bored and started unscrewing gallon water bottle tops at 20 or so yards. He still owes me $20.
Another great video. My S&w 15-22 loves this ammo, it’s good ammo love the stuff.
Fantastic video you've shown what a fantastic sport shooting can be
Thanks guys for a great fun video!!!!!
👍🤠 👍😎
I have never had any problems with any CCI ammo in any of my 22lr rifles or handguns. I think it's the best 22lr ammo being made today.
Talk about a lot of fun! Thanks for the good times, you two! =)
Our pleasure!
22LR...... tactical, had to laugh 🤣, those two just don't go together.
And just like you don't piss into the wind, you don't shoot shaving cream cans when you are downwind hahaha
Thanks for another fun video.
Shooting shaving cream upwind is no fun 😁
Very well done video . Pure class .
Thanks guys .
Much appreciated!
Always a crack seeing you try good gear . Great video . 👍🏴
Thanks 👍
Love you guys, very nice 22s. Great shooting. Thanks
Greetings Ira. We hope you had a nice weekend. 😎😎
Enjoyed it as usual. I love my little Beretta Bobcat. Nice to see you giving yours some range time. Take care
Thanks 👍
Good ammo + good guns = great time!
Great show as always. Thanks from Michigan where it's a rainy 68 degrees.
Thank you Ralph and greetings from southern Nevada where is right now 105 degrees outside.
Same here in La Quinta California and I still want to move to Southern Nevada@@mixup98
🙂Great shootin' - great video, as always! Thank you!💯👍!
Excellent ammo, I pick up a box whenever I see it. Fun video, stay cool out there Mixup!
I will and you do the same.
Great video, that Barbasol really had some pressure to it.
That was a really cool video. Boy coming out of that pistol, those things were ringing the metal disk really hard.
We are glad to hear that you enjoyed our video Richard, and we thank you for watching it.
I really enjoy your vids 😁. Keep up the good work !
Thanks! 😁
Great video Mixup & son Keep cool
👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾 I just love watching You and your son I miss having my Dad around
You had fun with the shaving cream. I'll have to try that ammo.
Great video! Love the 22lr
Thanks! 👍
Long time viewer, first time commenter; your guntube channel is my fav, thank you. Ain't been shooting long, only a few years, but cci is the only rimfire brand I trust to be consistently good.
Nice. That rapid fire reminded me of your earlier videos.
I’m here for the ricochet sounds
You make the best videos. Thank you Sir.
You and your son inspire me to grab some guns that I had almost forgotten about, and step out into the backyard, and start plinking. HOTDOG!😅
LOVE the content, keep em' comi'n!
Thanks for the awesome feedback!
great video.
Great video and review! Thanks much!
God bless all here!😊
👍😎
Switched to federal bulk pack and it runs awesome though my SW MP 15-22 pistols and rifles.
Nice review and…thanks for the Startrek intro…
👍😎 👍👽
I have the camo model of the S&W AR15-22, One of the best rifles Ive ever owned
A mixup video on my birthday heck yes
Happy birthday my friend! Please don't tell anyone but my birthday is tomorrow 👍😎
Greetings from Ireland. Love the channel. I have 2 Ruger SR 1911s one in .45 and the other in 9mm. Both with blue G10 grips just like yours😄
Great minds think alike 👍😎 ...and greetings from the United States!
Hello Sir, Happy Satur-Yay!! Shave and a shoe shine, 2 bits. :) Good .22 plinkage you two. Stay blessed and keep smilin'
Thank you kindly Eric and have a great weekend.
Hehehe,, go out with a bang! Always good watching your videos. Thanks for sharing. Hey Son of Mixup! Thumbs up ~John
Looks like you had a blast and the ammo is very good and reliable.... love the exploding shaving cream!
My comment to show support and Appreciation for your Video is as follows. -Big Thumbs Up
😎👍👍👍👍👍😎
Looks like a lot of fun
I'd like to try some in my Ruger 10/22.(The 4th I've owned.) CCI make top quality 22LR. Their MiniMag's never malfunctioned in my 22s.
I will pick up some of this ammo for my Beretta!
All I mainly shoot now is 22lr! This hobby is getting too extensive, but I'll still find a why to enjoy it. Started collecting rocks here in California cause man you never know what theyll ban next here.
No offense but I could never, never, never live in California. Are sling shots still legal there?
@@mixup98 lol! Yes but they all have fin grips lol! Man no offense taken sir! When my brother was in Arizona I visited once and was blown away!!! Almost like I was in another country, well... I guess I am lol!
@@Bill-up9xw Here in Nevada we have no waiting period, no roster, no firearms permit or license, and no background check on ammo. We also have millions of acres of public land that is open to shooting, hunting, hiking and exploring. I'm sure Arizona is pretty much the same. California almost seems like a foreign country to us.
CCI is generally good stuff
Good morning from Illinois ☕️
@8:11 had me almost spit out my cereal. Hilarious. Thanks for this vid. Glad you reviewed this ammo because some people say it not as reliable as CCI Mini Mag. How many Failures did you end up with out of the box?
Hello nicktrue. Not one single failure and that is the honest truth. When I was editing my video I was hoping that the sound effect on the Bobcat pistol would cause someone to spit out their cereal. 😁
Hey you guys are great shots.I like the original sights on thee 45 they are small so you can try for tiny targets far away. Anyhow good job both are great shots
My son and I thank you for the nice compliments!
I like all your sons Punisher shirts and hat must be a fan
Great video, CCI is great ammo 🇺🇲 im surprised you didn't put riser on vortex ??
Well now this is a interesting video and you have got to love a day at the range with the 22LR. It is so much fun to shoot shaving cream. I always buy mine at the Dollar tree.
Over many years I have bought tons of shaving cream at Dollar Tree and the now closed 99cents Only stores. 👍😁
Thanks. I feel better now that you got to shoot some 22's. Yeah,I was thinking about getting an Sig 522 when they came out but at the time I couldn’t justify paying $500 new for one. Instead,I purchased a Tanfoglio Appeal 22lr bull pup for $400 new. I like my bull pup though.
Thank you for not employing the awful so called music sound tracks.
Looks good
Wow! Looks like fun !! 😂
I wasn't epecting any funny busines with that fancy ammo, but the proof is in the pudding!
cOOL VIDEO MANY THUMBS UP.
Thank you Thomas.
Awesome video nice guns nice sig and ruger 22 rifles thanks for sharing mixup98 and son
Thank you Tim for always watching our video.
You're welcome friend anytime
That AR tactical didn’t feed well in a couple of my 10/22’s. May have been my magazine though. But it is good ammo overall.
Good ammo test. Yes sir, it's good ammo (albeit a bit pricy)
Great video! Love my Sig 522. I use Cci subsonic Suppressor for crows out to 50 yards. Mixup Jr needs to put on some weight 😂
Thanks 👍
Another good one. What's next 22 WMR? That'd be interesting, its one of those calibers that doesn't seem to get much coverage. I don't rely much on 22lr personally, but I shoot it more than I do anything else at the range and its so finnicky its good to find ones that you can rely on. Bad 22lr ammo can totally ruin your range.
Good morning from MS
Great bunch of weapons love that Ruger is that stock or built
I added a stock adapter and an SB Tactical stock to my Ruger Charger.
2 things. Do you ever bring a canopy out to stay in the shade and can you do one using a 22 conversion on a standard AR?
Love your videos
Hello Steve. We usually try to get to the range about 7am so we don't have to set up a canopy, but they might have to change in the near future. I have a CMMG .22 conversion kit for my AR-15 and I have done several videos on it, but I haven't shot the CCI Tactical ammo through it.
Ammo seems to be flawless
Heat warning due to mixup and son, going hot lead throwing.
Always a pleasure MIXUP , one can't have enough aroma therapy with family , keep your powder dry out there big man .
Same to you Tom and have a great weekend.
@@mixup98 , I picked up a model 61 Winchester not long ago in s.l.lr. , if you can barrow one , I'd like to see a video on one if possible , it's a really nice shootn' iron .
I'm looking for the .22 magnum now , they are not cheap .
I am so jealous right now. I would love to own a nice Model 61 someday. I have shot a Model 62 and I own a nice Model 63 and the 61 is definitely on my bucket list. And yes, a Model 61 .22 magnum would be awesome. Enjoy your classic rimfire and hopefully someday I will be able to get my hands on one and do a review on it.
@@mixup98 , my quest for a 61 in .22 magnum is going to cost me $2,000.00 , for a nice one in very good condition , i will have to see how deep my bucket goes .
@@tomstone6247 Wow....didn't realize they were going for that much. Another gun on my bucket list is a nice gen 1 Colt Peacemaker chambered in .45 Colt. Maybe someday.
Hey Mixup98! If you could only have a 22lr rifle and a 22lr handgun to take with you, what would it be and why? How about a video on that! As always good to see you and your son out there having fun. I took it for granted all the times i didnt go out with my pops as he isnt as physical now.
on a side note, would be cool if you did a video of how you got into guns when and how it all started! Hopefully that will challenge other youtubers to do the same, i think its a great awareness as we need it more than ever! Take care sir!
Good question regarding the rimfire firearms. I have shot lots of .22 rifles over the last fifty+ years but my first choice for a rimfire rifle would be a Ruger 10/22 simply because they work, parts are easy to find, and Ruger BX-25 magazines are extremely reliable. My eyes aren't what they used to be so my rifle would have a good quality red dot on it. Choice of pistol takes a little more thought. My choices would be either a Ruger Mark 4 pistol or a Browning Buckmark. Both are accurate and extremely reliable. I really like my Taurus TX22 but if I had to choose only one pistol I don't think it would be a polymer pistol.
@@mixup98 sweet! The Ruger Mark IV is always my choice as well. Need to get and try a Buckmark, I heard they were great right out of the box as well.
Mixup, that's not a fair using that Sig 522....you could load that rimfire ammo backwards, upside-down or even laying it on the barrel, and that 522 will fire it every trigger pull. Sig made one fine 22 rifle back then.
Good morning
I've used this ammo in my Hammerli -Tac .22 AR havent had a bit of trouble with it
Awesome....thanks for the feedback.
