    I think that's the coolest gun that has come out in a decade. Affordable, real blue with nice checkered wood grips...yeah...that is something we lost and needed back in a bad way. I'm getting one or two of those. I occasionally carry revolvers and know tons of people that do, both young and old...they make sense for a lot of people in a lot of parts of the country. And we like them. They're beautiful and reliable. And they are excellent for reloaders.

    I was a police officer for 36 years and in 1988 I was promoted to detective which was about a year and a half before we switched to autos, so for that time period I was issued a 3" blued chief special. It was a cool little gun but I think I would have been happier with the model 15 I carried in uniform because I shot better with the 15 and it was a 6 shooter. I was happy when the autos were issued. I enjoyed your video. 👍

    Heritage needs to come out with a top break, nine-shot, .22 revolver. If they do that with some of their other new offerings, they would have a huge market share.

      I just handled an H&R 999 break-open 22 cal. revolver and one on the local gun shop yesterday. It was in good shape with no rust and the shop owner had a price tag of $599.00. I lusted over it for a minute or two but eventually the price tag was too large to take it home.

    • @jagrench62
      @jagrench62 11 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      H&R made some great revolvers, Top break and others. I wish somebody to buy all their tooling with the intention of buildings some guns.

      @sinisterthoughts2896 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Heritage, at least used to not, use strong enough steel. Their rough riders are made of VERY soft metal, and top breaks are a inherently weak design(and super cool), so soft metal and weak design spell disaster.

    • @MW-bi1pi

      These are made by Taurus in Brazil and just sold by Heritage. Taurus has improved drastically in the quality of steel they use now. They are not bad at all. I am serious when I say the BEST trigger of all my polymer pistols is my Taurus TX22. Sounds silly, but it is true.

    That revolver is a remake of a pistol from my favorite era in firearms and American history. I always wondered why the police carried revolvers while the gangsters had 1911s and Tommy guns like the Military. That’s partially what lead to the .357 magnum cartridge and the .38 super. In my opinion, I think that society thought of the 1911 as “too much gun”.

    • @donwyoming1936
      @donwyoming1936 18 วันที่ผ่านมา +9

      A lot of police departments adopted the M1911 at the time, and Tommy Guns, just to find out the 45 ACP couldn't penetrate car bodies very well. There comes the need for the 357 Mag.

    • @markteaney8381
      @markteaney8381 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @donwyoming1936 another problem was penatration on the 357. City was worried about law suits from a mother being shot when the cops 357 bullet passed through the crook and hit mommy.

    • @sinisterthoughts2896
      @sinisterthoughts2896 9 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Earl8er autos weren't always as reliable, as well as ammunition being dodger. Revolvers are simple, will chew through any ammo, and at the time were much cheaper.

    I will allow for your young age but, seriously, saying that 5 rounds of 38 Special is not a serious self-defense gun is ridiculous. Especially with non-Plus P 158 special lead semi-wadcutters, it was the quintessential self-defense gun for a large portion of the previous century. I would take this over a pocket .380 in a heartbeat, which means that I'm going to head over the mountain tomorrow to my local gun shop and get an order in for one of these. It was a good review overall.

      Well said. I feel the same way.

    • @farklestaxbaum4945
      @farklestaxbaum4945 9 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Its not a serious self-defense gun, considering you can get a more powerful 9mm that holds 3 times as many rounds for the same price. Can you use it for self-defense? Sure. You can also use a black powder revolver for self defense. Its still a cool gun and I will probably be buying one.

    • @sinisterthoughts2896
      @sinisterthoughts2896 9 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@farklestaxbaum4945 it is absolutely a 'deadly' serious self defense weapon. More rounds are great, but not required to be an effective weapon. By your logic a single stack auto loader isn't "serious" either. And to use the same logic a double stack 9mm isn't serious, because an AR will have twice it's capacity and a lot more power and range. And that argument can be continued through the heat death of the universe. 38 special has been successful for over a century as a self defense cartridge. Can you have more power? Sure. More capacity? Absolutely. Are either necessary? Only in the most bizarre scenarios. I try not to take on whole mobs at once.

    • @farklestaxbaum4945
      @farklestaxbaum4945 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@sinisterthoughts2896 Yes, a single stack auto loader isn't "serious" anymore, you can get a double stack autoloader in any size with little-to-no price increase over a comparable single stack. I would hope you're clever enough to understand we are talking about carry gun,s i.e. not ARs... As I commented previously, this gun can be pushed into a self defense role, but it is a replica for a reason. A 5-shot .38 is obsolete in todays self-defense marketplace. If you are looking a for a serious self-defense gun there are 100 better options. I still like the gun. I don't know why some people have such a hard time distinguishing between something that "can" be used for self defense and something that is GOOD for self defense.

    I'm glad you compared it next to the Taurus, I'm debating on getting either or. I like the Taurus because it just looks cool, cheap, and a six shot. I also like the Rosco because it looks like a classic. How much did you spend on each? Here in Texas at academy the Taurus goes for about $350

    "Not a serious self defense handgun" I disagree with your opinion to say the least, and welcome you to the step down range challenge. I'll keep my seat and not tempt a cartridge considered sufficient by the police for shooting people for nearly a century. A lot of dead people from a 38 special. A lot.
    Other than that, it was a good video, and despite disagreeing with you, I truly appreciate you taking the time to make this video and share it with us.

      Hey man civil discourse is what it is all about no hate here brother. I should have been more clear about what I meant by that statement. What I meant was that there are many better options for a self defense handgun in 2024 but right after that statement I said that it can be pushed into the role of a self defense handgun and I said that I am even going to carry it. So that should tell you that I believe it to be a valid self defense tool if I am willing to carry it. Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment man. 🤠

    IT’S A TAURUS/ROSSI, manufactured in the same quality control challenged factory in Brazil with the same industry high percentage of warranty return/repair issues, and if your one of unfortunate buyers of a firearm that escapes their factory with one or more defects, you’ll be forced to deal with the same abysmal customer service apparatus and pay return shipping charges for that privilege.

      @@wyominggunproject I won’t. Not after the time I bought a single shot .410 Rossi Tuffy thinking there’s no way to screw up a single shot .410. But I was wrong. The chamber bore was so out of tolerance that expanded fired shells would not eject and had to be driven out with a dowel rod. Then I had to deal with Shakneequah with BrazTech customer service who went down a checklist designed to dissuade warranty returns and stressed that I had to pay return shipping charges. Luckily I bought the piece of $#!+ from Academy and they took care of the warranty return and shipping charges. Lesson learned, if you’re dumb enough to buy Taurus/Rossi and don’t mind waiting 4-6 months for the warranty repair, be sure and buy it at Academy Outdoors.
