While I live pretty far from the nearest "big city," it is nothing like this! Spending a day in the wide open spaces of Nevada doing this kind of casual exploring, and shooting a favorite firearm, looks like real freedom. Thanks for taking us along, Mixup.

My goal for 2023 was to build my first AR. Now they’re banned in my state (WA). Couldn’t find all the parts in stock, so I bought one. Hoping for an injunction. Just filled out my 2nd form. Meanwhile, doing what I can to move to a free state and build a few ARs. What a fun video. Like your Octopus grips. 👋🏼🤠

Really glad to see that your reservoir is filling up quickly. Praise the Lord! And you're showing another firearm that we have in common. I have a couple -the newest one is from PSA and is the MOE carbine which I actually purchased in two parts - complete upper and complete lower - on their daily sale. I like their nitride treatment for the barrel, bolt and carrier, and the fact that they are milspec. I have the Magpul BUIS and standard A2 front sight along with a Sig Romeo red dot -that takes AAA batteries.
Fortunately the water level in Lake Mead is going up and my son and I went fishing and kayaking at the lake last weekend. Didn't catch any fish but we still had fun. I have also ordered parts from PSA, including an AR pistol upper which is shown in another video that I posted today.
I love it here in Nevada and I don't think I could live anywhere else, especially back east. My son and I will be shooting another video tomorrow morning and it should be posted on Friday or Saturday 👍🤠 👍😎

I've always been an AK and SKS guy, but a little over a year ago I built my first AR when 7.62x39 started getting harder to find and more expensive. Since then the AR has really grown on me and I shoot it more than the others combined now.

Whether you're hiking, camping, or living out in the boonies, I highly recommend investing in a sling. It makes transitioning from rifle to pistol a lot more smooth. Not to mention it's way too convenient not to have during long treks in the middle of nowhere. If you're experienced enough with them, you learn they help tame recoil on stockless weapons like PCCs.
I thought I recognized the are you were in, at the beginning. That was confirmed when you got to the first abandoned mine building. I've been out in that area many times and enjoy it. I, too, have a few AR 15s, in different calibers. If I'm specifically going hunting and likely to be shooting at greater distances, then I take an AR in 6.5 Grendel. For just fun shooting I like my AR in 5.7X28. When I'm just out exploring in my 4X4, my AR in 7.62X39 is always in the back. The AR is a great firearm. Hey, I was out a couple of days ago and came up on a snake in the trail. It was a 3 1/2 foot long Mohave Green. It's the first one I've ever seen, in the wild. I took several photos of it and then moved it off of the trail. And no, I didn't pick it up with my hands. I used my hiking staff. It got pretty angry at me for moving it. But I didn't want it to get run over. Another fun and interesting video, from you. I always enjoy them. Thanks.

I enjoyed shooting M-16 A1s as a Marine in the late 1970's. At my age the AR platform is light and handy. I also noticed the revolver on your hip. I usually carry a S&W 638 Bodyguard loaded with a couple of rounds of snake shot in case I run into an aggressive poisonous snake when I'm out exploring. Most snakes can be avoided if you're aware of where they usually are. I had a fellow Marine who's a country boy, teach me about snakes. I don't fear them like I used to and I leave them alone unless they're aggressive, which is rare if you spot them before they spot you. That's a pretty area of Nevada. I hope to do some exploring of West Texas one of these days. Keep up the great videos. I always learn something from them...:)

I grew up in Northern Nevada and spent many days exploring and hiking through the desert or the wilderness with a firearm. I’d often catch snakes. I’m in Texas now. I miss the freedom of having BLM land to freely explore and shoot.
I grew up in Northern Nevada also, and my friends and I had SO much open space for riding our dirt bikes and shooting our .22s. It was a great place to grow up! I live in the woods in Montana, now, and occasionally get lonesome for the wide open spaces of the high desert!

as much as I love the Culture in Small Town Texas, lack of access to BLM is a deciding factor in keeping me away if i were to ever move. I wont hesitate to frequently visit though.
Agreed! There are 3 reasons I carry and go out either well-armed or heavily armed* 1- You never know 2-Just in case 3-Anything can happen anywhere at any time *If I didn't need it I just brought it home until the next time.

2-Just in case
3-Anything can happen anywhere at any time
*If I didn't need it I just brought it home until the next time.
