This technique is how my Mum and Gramma bound ALL their quilts. I have seen it referred to as both single-fold binding and English-fold binding. My Mum was shocked when she saw me using the double-fold or French-fold binding. She handquilted several quilts for me before she passed away. It is so nice to see your work in traditional styles, Beth.
Love this quilt. When I saw the name you have given the quilt, it made me laugh as here in London we have an important train station called Kings Cross 😊. I love the design of this quilt and colours you have selected. Thank you for showing us. I love your work 👏🏻👏🏻💕
Oh, Beth, this is absolutely beautiful. I love the addition of the red thread on both the binding and the quilting. Now I need to get my unfinished projects out and get them done!
What a beautiful quilt, Beth! ♥️ Love the color combination and the interesting pattern! Hand stitching the binding adds such a personal touch! Thank you for sharing! Blessings!
Beth, lovely quilt ,one of the prettiest you have done this year .❤ I always use sheets when I have them ,I am always on the look out at my local goodwill. Thank you for sharing.🙏🎄
I’m going to continue to make this comment, “I want to be like Beth!” You always amaze me with your fabric color choices. In the end I just love the overall look that each of your finished quilts. The scrappy placements, the patterns themselves! I so love this style more than all the others that are so color and pattern coordinated. Maybe it’s that there are no dark or bold colors? I’m still trying to process your style❤❤
LOVE the addition of the red thread stitching to your quilt!!! It gives it a very, very special handmade look and gives the quilt a look of value and not just an ordinary quilt. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐❣ Bravo! 🥰
That quilt transports me to some of my most favorite family memories!! Love Love Love!! You have proven to me time and again how simple sweet prints and unfussy designs make up the quilts that bring me the most joy!! I can’t thank you enough Beth. ❤
I haven't tried this type of binding before and I thank you for the tutorial. It really suits this quilt style and I love the vintage feel and simplicity of it. I think that your addition of the red embroidery stitches in the centre of the solid blocks is stunning. It really adds a perfect finish and compliments the colours in the blocks, as well as providing a overall balanced look. Beth this is a stunning quilt and looks even more beautiful with your simple design of hand quilting. You have such a wonderful sense of choosing a pattern and fabrics that suit your colours and style. I am very grateful that you continue to share your sewing with us. Thank you.
Beth I love this quilt, the block choice green and white is perfect, with the regular square block. The color choices are also beautiful too. And the extra touch of the red in the center of the cream and green block is perfect. Oh my gosh quilting this all by hand. It must have taken you a long time. But well worth it, whoever will receive this quilt, if not for yourself. I would be inclined to keep it if it were me. But sometimes our most beautiful creations we want to share with people we love and care about. Thanks for this video.
Such a beautiful quilt, and the binding is gorgeous - nice to see traditional methods being kept alive. Hope someone really enjoys this quilt - it looks awesome ❤❤
I must admit this is my preferred way to bind...it's easy for me as I'm not a great machine quilter and handling larger quilts is a challenge. Doing the binding this way makes everything smooth for me. Your quilt is beautiful and I like your hand stitching, Beth. Thanks for always making something and sharing.
I love this quilt. It is so beautiful. the backing as binding has been a frequent favorite of mine for many years. My grandma, who ignited my love for quilting, used to use that method when binding her quilts. Thanks for sharing your tips, tricks, and skills.
As usual, Beth, lovely work. I am remembering my grandmother who use to embroidery on everything. Her backs were almost as lovely as the fronts. She also hid her knots as you do. I think I make some matching pillowcases for my daughter's quilt and embroider on them and bind as you have done using a feather stitch on the quilt.
I've found that this binding is more durable, which means a lot since the binding is usually the first part to break down. Thank you, Beth and love to all fellow quilters!
Another fabulous quilt ready to be LOVED!! You show us so many different, but wonderful ways of making quilts 👏👏 Love the red thread finish on the binding, and in the quilt blocks 🥰👏🇬🇧
I love how this quilt came out. It is so pretty and great colors for the holidays. Thanks for sharing your quilts and techniques with us. I love watching your videos and I always learn something. Many thanks!
Beautiful quilt it has given me the inspiration to do quilting. Something that I have never done before and always wanted to try. Keep up the good work.
Mom mom bound most of her quilts this way, though she didn't do "big stitch" on purpose! She usually did a slip stitch but I'm loving the way big stitch looks. And I've seen some that stitch x's in the corners. If you did 3 of them you could very the size though I'm not sure how it would look on the back since you obviously wanted your stitches to show. I really like that you added the red stitching to some of the squares. It makes them look like snowflakes!
Good Afternoon Beth, You had better luck with than I did. I went back to catch s little left behind batting and cut into the backing. I tried to use school glue and dry it with an iron, boy that made it bumpy and that turned out badly. I have seen that technique done several times but I still didn’t do it right.. 🤭😅🤣 Your Quilt turned out Beautifully. Have a good week and weekend, 🥰👍 Chris

It is delightful to watch your folded and hand sewn binding. The small bit of red quilting in the blocks is perfect.
You can feel the love in the hand stitching on this quilt 💚❤🖐
Oh, Beth, this is absolutely beautiful. I love the addition of the red thread on both the binding and the quilting. Now I need to get my unfinished projects out and get them done!
What a beautiful quilt, Beth! ♥️ Love the color combination and the interesting pattern! Hand stitching the binding adds such a personal touch! Thank you for sharing! Blessings!
What a beautiful quilt! My Mom and grandma would finish quilts like that, especially when the backing was flannel. Good memories.
Beth, lovely quilt ,one of the prettiest you have done this year .❤ I always use sheets when I have them ,I am always on the look out at my local goodwill. Thank you for sharing.🙏🎄

Such a pretty quilt!
Very pretty!
Beautiful quilt.
My favorite way to bind a quilt. Only I don't do it by hand.
You are sooo prolific! What do you stuff your pincushion with? I enjoy all your videos.🥰
Crushed walnut shells
Thank you
I like the idea of the embroidery floss. Maybe go around each corner to outline a square and put an x in each to echo what is happening in the blocks.
I have done it this way before too.
So pretty!
🤶 Bardzo fajnie zrobione i te kolory superek 👍
It is beautiful!
Finished quilt = icing with a Cherry on top!🤭👍🏻🙏
You have the best eye for color and balance. It is always a joy to see your works of art.
Love your music selection. Thanks for sharing.
I’ve used this method a few times. I have also cut through the backing using a rotary cutter..
I love this so much!❤
Lovely and my favorite colours!!
It’s really beautiful, I love the hand stitching! What batting do you use? It looks so lush and comfy.
It’s wool batting
If any have arthritis or can't afford clips, I found bobbie pins work very well.
Lovely
