I did one of these recently and found it helpful to rough up the back surface of the cap and then add some epoxy to most of the cone as well as the glue surfaces. I suggest a slow cure epoxy like our Devil's Jizz epoxy.
I have a pair of the sws 12's , took the dust caps off and coated the cones with epoxy and put 3" poly dome dustcaps then brushed some gloss black model paint over the epoxy on the cones , they look and sound 10 times better ,
That sub sounds cooked - btw I love & swear by these subs in a triple sealed box but if that’s within warranty I’d simply swap it out. Also I highly suggest getting the mesh grilles if installed in a daily driver cuz that $40 saved my gear more times than I care to remember. I been running type R of various generations for 20 years on memphis amps and it’s a match made in heaven.
Follow the video steps carefully to remove the cone/coil assembly from the frame. From there, you can inspect the coil, leads, spider, and other components for repair/replacements. All of the alpine parts are somewhat easy to find because there is so many of them out there.
You only have 1 voice coil hooked up, i heard thats supposed to be bad for the woofer , your supposed to have both sets of terminals hooked up so they are in parallel or series, im not sure myself ,thats just what ive heard
Hey there. Hooking up one voice coil will not damage anything . You are just limited to the performance of one coil (Half of the power). Thanks for watching.
Good to see a reliable repairs to quality components. Well done.
Thank you!

How do you charge to fix a kicker square L5 15’
Thanks man.

Can you Recone type x?
Same approach as the type r
I have no sound, no smell, no ohm. Thinking I will have to get a kit
Take your time. Maybe that the tinsel leads came disconnected from voicecoil. Maybe a simple repair if you don’t have rubbing of coil.
@@Moegnetowhere would I find repair kits? Thank you
One of my all time favorite brands I had these but the older ones… I love alpine 💙🫡🔉
concave dust cap
But if I was looking from the other side Patty?
Just curious - how much does that plastic dustcap for the Type R weigh? I'm wondering how much impact it has on the Type R's parameters...
Obviously more mass would change the T/S parameters but as for the audible difference, I would imagine you wouldn’t hear it.
The paper cone is extremely thin paper cone it needs the dustcap for weight and strength badly without the cap it sounds extremely weak.
where are you located i have 2 alpine type rs i would love to have fixed

@@Moegneto right on. how bout an email. i looked in the description but im not computer literate per say
How much power do you feed yours??? I'm giving mine 600 watts and it seems hungry still
750 Watts continuous is the sweet spot.
Do they make a recone kit for an alpine type r 8’ recone kit? I have one the cone came loose on
If it’s just the cone, it should be an easy and straighforward repair.
👍👀👍
